    Betfair trading is the process of placing two opposing sports bets in order to secure a result, similar to cashing out. However, Betfair trading is done with a specific edge or piece of advantage information in mind. If you incorrectly predict price movement on Betfair's exchange you will need to close your trading position for a loss.

    This video helped very much. I have been watching a lot of your videos and mostly been scratching my head trying to figure out how to profit either way as I just kept coming up with essentially free bets (with a risk of unmatched bets). Didn't realize I needed to click the green numbers to place the amount required for profit either way. Do you ever do any live streams so we can ask questions or live chats? There is probably a million questions I could ask. Also, is it really much of an issue that I'm not really much of a sports fan? Thanks for the videos and help.

    Hey Caan! Great video, got me lost at the first run, but then I watched some others that explained the same concepts in other words, and slower (wink), and when I came back to your video, the second time was much clearer.
    I'm just confused about the "hedge" (did I get it correctly?) thing you're doing. What is that exactly, and what is its point? Is it necessary after the back's and lay's? Because it seems to me like it's just reducing your profit.
    Thanks

    This is probably the best video I've found to aid in understanding the trading side on exchanges. The real time trading example with Geekstoy is far superior to the theoretical example given earlier in the video, the standard betfair interface is terrible for trading.
    My initial impression is that there's a finite amount of money in the market at any one time, and if there's a trend to be predicated or observed there will always be a professional trader one step ahead. Is "pump and dump" a thing for trading betting exchanges? Seems like the speed of software would allow a precious window of opportunity.

    I've visited this a few times now and each time it's making more sense. I've been matched betting a while and moved in to laying horses. I've made good money laying but obviously it comes with quite a margin of potential risk at times. Maybe I will just get Geeks Toy and start trading as I normally do through the interface and gradually get a feel for it before attempting scalping.

Also is trading generally a good way to make a steady profit? and do you always back first and then lay..or do you do the opposite if you see the price going out? ie, lay first then back?. thanks. I'm looking forward to trying this as I think this could be a good source of income.

I know markets are generally incredibly unpredictable, but what indicators can you give for being able to "forsee" a drop/increase in price? I did everything you said to do to a tee and for some reason before I place the bet, it says that I’m either going to make no loss if any of the potential outcomes come through or in some cases it even says I’m going to make s profit no matter what. This is before I place the bet but the moment I place the be one of the potential outcomes automatically changes to say that I’m going to make a lose if that’s what happens and I always end up making a lose. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Also how do you decide to put the 4 and 3 for your custom odds.

    Hello! Recently I have started doing a bit of matched betting on football and I'm profiting a bit, nothing crazy, but it's just something to do during lockdown. My question is, if I am matched betting and say I back a football team at 4.00 for £20 on the bookie's and lay them at 4.2 on the exchange with a free bet I am guaranteed £14.07 in profit.
    BUT, if I see during the match that on THE EXCHANGE the BACK odds have moved to 5.4 and I backed them for £15 the little 'what-if' indicators all show green at around £4/5 each. Should I confirm that, would I then have ALSO made a successful trade in parallel to profiting from my free bet and in total have earned more like £19/20 or somehow does something cancel out (my brain is spinning).

      @CaanBerryProTrader  Před 3 lety

      Yes, and no. Here is why - if you back with the bookie at 4.0, but lay on teh exchange at 4.2 adn then the odds move to 5.4, you have indeed made a successful trade on the exchange. But in closing out that position on the excahnge or adjusting it you are changing the exposure for the matched bet on the 4.0 option. Probably best not to mix the two :)

      That's a bias in your thinking I suspect. It often feels like that at the start, but the reality is probably that you are backing with the view to lay and remember when it moves against you? Frustrating I know. You gotta find the pattern in the madness and noise though.

  • @skintslots

    You changed backers odd's manually to 4. So can you change it to whatever you like? Why not then change back bet to odds 100 then you can win 100 x stake when the horse wins. 🙂

    • @CaanBerryProTrader
      @CaanBerryProTrader  Před 2 lety

      You can change it to what you like, but the price has to be trading at that price in order for it to get matched.

      So for example if there is a live football match, and I am laying and backing odds throughout the game on the team that I think is going to win, and the net difference was say £2. Do I get that only if the team wins? If they draw or lose I get nothing? Is this any different from the video? Sorry I'm a bit confused haha

    • @robinandned3151

      you cant get banned by exchanges. You are taking value from other traders/bettors, not the betting site ie paddy power. The exchange makes money either way through comission.
