Janice - good memories came with watching you hanging clothes on an outdoor line. That is how I grew up and how I did things when my own were small. Clothes smelled so 'fresh' when brought indoors - nothing nicer than sheets and their scent after being 'sun' dried. Back in my younger days at home my mom would only hang bedding things an towels out . As I got older an married , I hung out my laundry to save money. I would hang the clothes wrong side out to keep the sun from fading the color on the outer side.
Oh Janice, thanks for the memories! What fun to see the clothes pin bag! We had one too when I was little! I loved to help put the laundry on the line, and my mom and her sister, my aunt, showed me how to hang things so that they would avoid wrinkles as much as possible! It was fun for me! I loved it! Hi Janice love your hollywood look so cool. That trick you do with the clothing pins i did that all the time when i was younger my mom showed me how to do it. Your right it does save time and plus we would never run out of clothing pins.
Yep that's the way I hang out clothes as did my mama !! Mama taught me to hang the biggest to the least so my towels , jeans , shirts , socks , then washrags .. My washrags I hang just by a corner .. And Downey fresh lol I love hanging out our bedding as well
I love hanging out my clothes. So many people are shocked when they realize I don't own a dryer. I live in Florida. Laundry dries in 30 minutes most days. It helps us afford to run the air conditioning. My husband has even ran a line that I can use on our covered porch for days when we have rain showers. It is done with hooks and can be easily put up or taken down when not in use. I hang dress shirts and dresses on metal hangers with a clip to keep it on the line. That way I just take them in and hang them in the closet. Loved seeing you and the family when they were younger. Beautiful family then and now.
❤I remember when all our clothes were hung on the clothesline. It was a long clothesline though and it was down under the hill in our backyard. I remember it taking most of a day to do the ironing for a week. I loved ironing as a young girl. Shirts were handed together, pants, skirts, towels, etc. and we hung the together like you do. Clothes dried outside in the fresh air smell so good! ESP sheets! You look pretty with or without makeup. Your complexion is so smooth. Thanks for sharing. I spent 40 years hanging laundry & loved every minute of…well maybe not, as you mention, running out to get it off the line during a dust or rainstorm! But it was a bit of ‘mindless’ work in the day that allowed me to zone out for a few minutes….a sort of ‘break time.’ I now have a dryer and live in a duplex with my son, his wife and their children and I do ALL the laundry and my DIL does all the cooking…fair trade as far as I’m concerned. I still love doing laundry!

I hang my laundry on two smaller umbrella type lines like yours. I love the fresh smell of the clothes , towels, and bedding. Also as you know it saves on the electric bill. My clothes seem to last longer than when I used to dry them in my dryer. I fluff my towels in my dryer for about ten minutes, and they come out soft.
Hello Janice and family and Happy Mother’s Day 💐 my parents did not get a dryer until I was 14 yrs old ❤️ so we had a huge clothes line outside and in the winter we hung clothes in the garage and in the house it was a 3800 sq ft house so there was room to hang clothes in the house 😊 now that I do my own laundry I love my front loaders 👍 but I still hang dry certain clothes I have a large laundry room and I have a collapsible line that I purchased on Amazon ❤️ I’ve always hated STIFF TOWELS so I line dry but I put them the dryer to soften them up

I get a bang out of ‘Homestead’ because to me a Homestead is what the very early settlers lived on. I would call what people call a Homestead a farm or a hobby farm. I do know it’s popular now days to call it a Homestead. But there’s thousands of farmers who have lived and still live a life of gardening and animals for generations.
The main difference is homesteaders thrive to be self sufficient and operate under the homestead laws for their state, if their state has them, which Missouri does. Farming doesn’t necessarily entail being self sufficient.

The heavy laundry... I have a cloth foldable wagon. Holds 250 lb. Makes life so much easier. Can use to help bring food in from grocery trips also. We'll worth what I paid. Have had it 9 years so far.
I found myself chuckling about you ‘hiding’ the unmentionables in the centre of the line because I do this too! My 3 sons were originally horrified at the thought of their underwear being hung outside until I explained where they were hung and why 😂
I live in Scotland and have always hung out our laundry since I married aged 16 almost 55years ago now. I always feel the laundry feels softer and smells fresher longer. Nothing better in my opinion natural dried laundry beats that I dry in my dryer every single time

I love hanging cloths I live in a apt.so I do not have a line outside.But I do have some racks. I do dry my bedding in a dryer and towels because there heavy.I don't use fabric softner,I like the dryer balls. Thks.for the suggestions Janice.
Your clothesline is like an upside down Hills Hoist..The Hills Hoist was invented in Australia in 1946 and became the standard in Australian homes..They have a handle on the post that you can use to raise or lower the lines according to your height..Once your clothes are hung you can wind it up high so your kids can still play on the lawn underneath (Also stops them from hanging on the bars and swinging it around..Something my sister and I did at my Grandmas when we got the chance!!)..I now use a hanger I got from Ikea, which has a lot of pegs on a frame with a hook, to hang the underwear..It means you can just grab the whole thing and bring all the undies inside in one go..and in winter I can hang it on my heated towel rail in the bathroom..I also use stainless steel pegs these days as they dont degrade in the sun..Always interesting to see how other people do every day things..Thanks for sharing ❤

My mom taught me to hang clothes that way to use fewer clothes pens. But if you hang items from bottom, not fold over you wouldn't get a line on your clothes.
That’s almost exactly the way my momma hung laundry! Except for some reason, all the female clothes had to be hung together and all the male clothes had to be hung together. 😂😂😂

Will one or two of the girls get the boys' old bedroom in the house? I loved seeing the tour of the summer kitchen and the boys' new room in a previous video! Those cicadas are soooo loud! I haven't heard them here yet in Central Indiana. They always remind me of the end of summer. Blessings.
My mom taught me to hang clothes that way to use fewer clothes pens. But if you hang items from bottom, not fold over you wouldn't get a line on your clothes.
That’s almost exactly the way my momma hung laundry! Except for some reason, all the female clothes had to be hung together and all the male clothes had to be hung together. 😂😂😂
