Don't know about Mr. Clean. But the white pads by 3M or Scotchbrite will work for sure. Personally, I wouldn;t risk using anything that I didn;t know would work for sure, because if you scratch the finish it will be very time consuming to fix the problem. The pads that work also specifically say something like "for buffing and polishing" on the packaging.

What do you think of products like Bar Keeper's Friend? That product seems to have grit, which you say not to use. Thanks.

It seems unlikely to me that a basketball could scratch stainless steel, but who knows. Many stainless steel apliances actually have a coating on them and perhaps the basketball has simply left an imression on that?

PLEASE - I will be trying the Soft Scrub/White Pad (is Mr. Clean's Ok?) tonight. BUT. If it doesn't work, do you have another suggestion? What it is is heavy 'old' grease on the sides of my stainless steel stove that I didn't realize was there until we moved it. It's like GLUE!....:(((

not really sure. try it out and let us know what you think, but if it has grit, don't, because it will ruin the finish.
