Worked like a charm only that the sink wasn't long enough to hold them fully soaked in so i kept changing half in and half out
but everything worked perfectly i used 4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed it well with hot water and used boiling water poured over the filters and little bit of light scrubing
thank you so much for the video saved me from buying other kinds of grease removers thought it was impossible to get anything off of these newer style cooking hoods.
Glad it helped !
When I just saw this vid, I thought it was a fake one showing how well and easy the fake grease came off the grill. So, when I tried it, I didn't really expect much, given I was dealing with probably a 6 year old exhaust mesh that hasnt been cleaned that long. ....But when I tried it just today tho, I was totally amazed how effective it was in removing the sticky thick grease on my parent's exhaust mesh! Good thing I found the vid coz I was thinking of using "Off Oven degreaser" before which wouldve been more hassle in handling given the toxic substance. Thank you for sharing this vid!
Thanks! Straight forward cleaning guide.
This is the best method I have come across cleaning the filters, so therapeutic when it’s all cleaned and clear!! 💙
I totally agree!
@@PunjabiAussieTraveller wouldn't the grease build up the drain pipe? Maybe better in a large square container to throw out ?
Thank you and it helps. Our hood fan filter is back to shinny. God Bless
I just put our filters in the dishwasher on its hottest cycle and they come out beautifully clean with no faffing about!
Me too 😊
I used to do that for years, the cleaning is brilliant but I did find out the hard way that some few but important parts, like small springs in the clip release handle and a plastic frame of the clip release did not take his procedure too well. The springs started to show rusting, the plastic turned brittle, and at some point the clip holders didn‘t work and the filters had to be replaced
Me too😅
Yep also.
I don't. I put mine on the dishwasher in the eco program and they come out perfectly clean. 😉
Your advice on how to clean hood filters in five minutes was easy to follow and spot on! My carpal tunnel hands thank you!
Do you have a video for cleaning a gas stove top cooking grill? I believe it is cast iron.
Recently, I cleaned my range hood filters using cloudy ammonia and although I was reasonably pleased with the result it wasn't really the best. I'll be trying Bicarbonate of Soda in future. Wow! How simple.
Thank you, thank you so much for this. Our filters were caked up really bad because they had never been done since we had them and this tip has really helped me. THANK YOU
Glad I could help!
If you have a dishwasher its much quicker!!
Brilliant . Thank you please continue to upload these type of hints and tips videos
Sure thing!
This is a great idea, I'll do this from now on. Thankyou!
Awesome 👍 going to try this tomorrow...thank you .
Thank you for the tips. Fantastic results. Just one extra point to pay added attention to the clips that you press to release it from the rangehood as a lot of grease gets stuck in there.
Great tip! Thanks
Your kitchen is so clean!
Thank you so much for your help. My filters have never been cleaner. This method is so simple and quick and efficient. The manufacturer's instructions of using a mild soap and warm water never worked.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this! Efficient and cheap! Love the Aussie flavour..☺️🇦🇺
In hamburgerbars, we used dishwashermachine-detergentm like you do herem but we only flipped the filter up and down a number of times, no brush was needed, then we rinsed in clean water and let dry tilted on one corner. We also cleaned behind the filters with another strong detergent.
Thank you for posting this! Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Best method i have tried worked perfectly Thank You
This is a super tip and ecologically friendly! I will try this out straight away tomorrow!
Did it work?
@@kellyb8237 It did indeed!! I found it the perfect way to clean my grease filters. Our kitchen man said we should never put them in a dishwasher so I used to scrub them with some washing up liquid and warm water but this baking soda method is far superior!! Highly recommended!
Thank you i was going to purchase new ones but just seen your brilliant video 🥰🥰
I'll need to try this method. I tried another method which used hot water, dish soap and white vinegar. It did a good job and all the grease I can see had been cleaned off, but there's still a sticky residue. I'll give this method a go and check the results. Looks good though.
Thank you! I’m going to try this.
Thank you! Got me to get up and face the job! I used your system but added a cup of sugar soap!
Did the sugar soap help clean the grease off?
Thank you. This is a nice tip.
Warning! Never use caustic soda. It may damage the filter.
I would do this in a mop bucket or any big bucket and dispose the water off the outside sink or street drain. This can clog the sink sometimes. Make sure have a degreaser handy otherwise.
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you you are the best. That really works I was able to clean it really fast. Thank you 👍😃
Stick them in the dishwasher on their own. They come up beautifully 😊
You're a génius ! Compliments from Paris.
Thank you for this, made my work far easier. One thing though, my drain blocked almost immediately after, with the grease, I got it sorted with a long Auger quite easily. I would suggest that to prevent that happening to you run some very hot water through the sink for a couple of minutes, maybe 3 or 4 kettles full of boiling water slowly or run some degreaser through the pipes after. Other than that great cleaning tip.
Sounds like you might need to clean the filters more often. 😉
dont dip it in the sink. use a large plastic container
Great idea! I was a bit concerned myself about clogging the pipes after draining water. I think I'll add some Dawn dish detergent with the boiling water. Thanks!!!
Looks so fast and easy, I cannot believe it! Last time I've tried to clean my filters, I've had such a hard time! Definitely gonna try this tomorrow with some baking soda!
How did you go?? Any success. ??
@@stevekongliew8305still scrubbing.
Even easier if you don’t let them get so filthy in the first place…..
@@stevekongliew8305 I couldn't fit them in any tray I have, so my mission resulted in a failure. I'm still looking for a way to clean them
@@DavidHalfordsLane yes, I would love to do that! But, I have to find a way to clean up after the previous owner, who did not keep them clean at all...
Thank you for the video! I didn't have baking soda so I just used Dawn dish soap and it worked. Love from Toronto 🇨🇦
I would do that even with baking soda just to keep the grease in solution going down the drain.
Dawn is my best friend for greasy dishes. Better than Palmolive
I’ve lived in my home for 12 yrs. and NEVER cleaned the stove filter. Today there was black goo dripping from it and then I found this video! Thank you ❣️
World record? Can anyone beat this?

Damn, I tried every kind of harsh cleaning chemical, none worked well. Who would have thought baking soda would work so well? THANKYOU!
Thank you sooooo much on this tips
It look good.I will try mine later on today

Excellent tip, I hate dirty filters.
Thanks you so much, it really worked!! 5⭐
Glad it helped!
Great tip, thank you so much 🙏😊
Glad it was helpful!
I tried it now n it worked ,thanksssssss
Great 👍
You might need to keep it in the hot water a bit longer with the bicarbonate soda in and then add boiling water and also keep it in for a while... My first attempt didn't work, had to keep it longer, then only it worked ☑️📝 but this surely works 😊
Brilliant!
thanks! this helped!
Glad to hear!
Thanks alot. I tried to clean.wirh dettol but didnt work after seeing this video it worked like magic.Thku so much 1ce again.

Any method for decreasing/cleaning the motor fan itself within the hood?
thank you so much for this video
Most welcome 😊
Very Very helpful badha pase dishwasher nahoy 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Glad it helped !
Soooooo good, thank you
I take mine into the backyard, spray liberally with oven cleaner, then hose off after an hour. Same with oven racks.
Very nice video.
Thanks
thanks for that!!
Thanks new friend here, done my support to ur channel
Μπράβο τα έχω καθαρίσει με ακριβό απορρυπαντικό αλλά άφηνε σημάδια και χημικό πολύ άρα με τη σόδα καλύτερα ❤θα το δοκιμάσω
Thank you 🙏🏽
thanks a lot!
Thank you!
Wow it's like magic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi thanks for the demonstration . I tried your method but i find the grease still stuck on the other side of the filter. Anyone has this problem? The front side looks clean but the other side still looks ugly.
Same here
Dont you clean both sides?
Exactly.. I was wondering if anyone has mentioned this in comment
Wouldn’t that amount of grease be bad for your drain line pipes and dishwasher filter ?
Thank you :)
That saved me heaps of time
Very good Thanks
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant
Thanks 😊
Where do i get bi carb soda powder .? Are Bi carb soda and baking soda different ?
I put mine in the dishwasher once a week. No fuss no muss.
Can I do the same with my carbon filters?
Awesome
Is it okay to drain the water down the sink with all the grease?
Very useful video. Can you tell me what is the name of the range hood you have? I have the same ( no name on it) I need to buy a new filter , so asking.
Even our doesn't have a brand name on it, so not sure. !
My filter handle part just fell apart, how do I put it back together? It looks like yours

Thank you, come again.
Baking soda is Great
The dish washer works for me.😀
She uses hot water to melt the grease off of the filters. Baking soda isn’t really doing anything. The grease can easily clog a drain.
You’re wrong. The Baking Soda is an excellent cleaner and even mildly diluted wipes stains and marks away - you should try it before mouthing off that just hot water is The Cleaner- don’t we all wish that what you scream out so loud was the truth, but You’re Wrong.
I think its better to use Natriumcarbonat AKA Soda. Its used for washing and cleaning only, its a strong fat cleaner. I think its also called washing soda. I think Natriumbicarbonate is for cooking a cake.
Put them in an automatic dishwasher, with an extra packet of soap, works for me.
Dear, if you have dishwasher machine, put them into the dishwasher, after one or two cycles them will be sparkling...
Just put it in the dishwasher.😊😊
Even easier if you put them in the dishwasher 👍
Looks like it works well but that grease down the drain could be a problem for your city. I saw a documentary about London's sewers. They have what they call 'fatbergs' that people in waders need to go break up 🤢🤢🤢
Perhaps get rid of the water in the garden? Not sure if the soil likes it either though. Maybe on an area where you don't want much to grow 😜
Hmm, I guess cleaning them in a rectangular wash basin and then filtering the liquid through a wet towel would be a nice way to trap the grease and just throw it away. 🤔
What about your drains???
Put it in the dishwasher , so simple.
Stick the metal filters by themselves in the dishwasher and put through a heavy cleaning cycle.
Would have worked better for us if we had a wider receptacle in which to soak the filters - got hot water all over the kitchen sink(s) and myself. Our previous range hood filters were smaller and much easier to clean. Thanks anyway.
Thanks for the tip!
I use a sink with hafe cup degreeser n soak the screen 4 about 10 minutes . But dose anyone know about taking greese off under a stainless steel. Without scratching it
I tried this but it stained the metal - the filters now are clean but have these dark spots on it. Is that maybe because of the bi-carb soda?
Mine came out fine, no such issue. Not sure. Did you use dish washing soap with it?
I always put inside the dishwasher.
why aren't you showing the other side of the filter?
Will it not attack the metal?
Nope
How long do they take to dry? Do they have to be fully dry or not?
I dry it with the hair dryer
Clean every day ! Then you don't have to do this :) but a good tip for the lazy ones
