    The tip about how to get the difficult bolts out by tightening back down and then out was great. I actually found re-installing the first bracket was easier with the car on the ground, so on the second one I didn't even jack up the car. Just did the whole job by reaching in front and behind the tire.

    Before you do this repair, make sure you have a bolt extractor set! You might not need it, but you should have one anyways. I broke a bolt but my extractor pulled it right out.

    Went pretty well for me, but more time consuming than expected. First of all, for those doing the front ones too, it is very cramped. You can easily spend 5 mins getting a single bolt out. A 12mm box end rachet / open end combo is a must for the front.
    For the rear, I ended up snapping 1/4 bolts. However, once the head is snapped off, you can using a penetrant to get the stuck bolt loose. I was able to drill into the bolt and spin it out with a small torx bit enough to expose the threads. At that point I grabbed the threads with a small vice and it came out easily. I went to the store and picked up a M8 that perfectly matched the bolt length. As I think about this again, I think the splash shield bolts are the same size - might be able to use those in a pinch.

    I have a 2001 Camry Solara SE. What I need is the main rear sway bar chassis bracket that the bushing bracket bolts on to. I believe it's called a subframe. Not sure what the exact part name is. The only part number it has engraved on it is 790D. It snapped off the chassis with the bushing and bushing brackets still bolted on.

      yes. Bolted to the frame. After front wheel is off, you can see it- its fairly easy to access and looks very similar (not not the same metal retainer I believe) . The problem is rust, if you're located in a rusty region- extracting bolts that sheared here won't be fun without a torch. Hope I helped

    Hi there, I have a question about replacing both my front and rear sway bar bushings for my 2005 Camry. My bushings are a little different from yours in that those in my rear are completely round while those at the front are similar to yours in the video and flat at the bottom. My question is that all my new bushings come unsplit. They are in one complete piece without a cut in the center for the installer to manoeuver them into place. So how do I actually install these? Do I need to cut them first or do I need to find a way to install them in their original unsplit forms by perhaps disconnecting the sway bars where they connect to the stabilizer bars? My concern is that when cutting through the new rubber I might cause loss of more material if this isnt done with a very sharp blade. A loss of material means the fit wont be as snug when installed. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  Pƙed 5 lety

      +jay dee Thanks for watching! All of the hardware worked on in this video is a simple bolt with hex heads. There are no nuts that thread onto a separate bolt. Usually the sway bar links will have a hex base for an open-ended wrench or a spot for an allen wrench to insert at the tip of the stud. That way you can hold the stud down to keep it from spinning while you turn the nut on or off! 1aauto.com

      @@1AAuto thanks for the reply..I ended up calling the shop and they told me that its not a nut...that the actual piece that wasn't allowing the bolt to come off...but would still spin...was due to the problem you stated in the vid..that the piece that I thought was nut was actually a welded on insert where the bolt goes..it snapped when I went to take it off which allowed it feel like it was coming out but instead was going nowhere..so he said that he would have to carefully torch the bolt free...is that true?
