Can we use wd-40 spray
Scotty, my car grinds quite loudly while I am releasing the clutch pedal after putting it in gear. It even does so ever so slightly while in neutral. I thought it was the clutch, but turns out it's not...
edit: it's only when partial clutch engagement does it grind... at fully depressed clutch and fully released clutch, she's fine and dandy.
You are a top bloke Scotty.
Hi Scotty.
I've a Nissan note (2010 UK model) that's got an annoying knocking coming from the front drivers side suspension.
I recently had both front wheel bearings replaced, but the knocking has got worse over time.
Any advice would be MASSIVELY appreciated.
BIG respect from a UK viewer.
Your channel is the finest of its kind. Love it.

I’m a flight nurse on an EMS helicopter .
The guys ( and gals ) that do the maintenance on our helicopters use that product same as you & on hoses & hydraulic lines. We really prefer not to have failures while in flight. I’ve heard them preach the same message as you.
Thanks Scotty.
Yeah, FIF bad!
Most of those hoses are Teflon steel braided. I would never apply a product to a helicopter without MFG approval bad things can happen. Been a jet mechanic for 12 years.

Yup, they come pre rusted from the factory.
When I first started watching your show, I wasn't much impressed. Over time, though, I have come to respect your mechanic abilities and your presentations. Many of the items you have discussed,
I have tried or asked around, and you are pretty much right on. I am pleased to say that you are one of the better mechanics, and you present actionable info that I am able to use on my vehicles. So, humbly, I say, thank you, Scotty. You're doing good !!!!
I like all the good advice except when someone say to put a good quality part if you intend to keep the car for years or in other words you can put a poor quality part if you are selling the car . This puts me off. I have always put the part, as if I am keeping the car for years despite knowing that I may be selling my car soon. It's cheating, if someone has two standards: one for self and one for others.!
You're doing well as opposed to you're doing good Mr. PhD
You were right at first! ; ;

😁 I was just thinking about going and checking my power steering fluid and it's 4:50 a.m. and then I read your comment and now I feel nauseous is that that too funny
Nah, it's 0417 in the morning. God, I need to get a life... Thanks Scotty.

Scotty has single handedly caused the price of AT 205 to sky rocket! I'd recommend getting a similar product from a different maker.
Scotty, your videos are so good, I love all your solutions. You saved me many thousands of Euros the last 5 years (cat cleaning, brake cleaning, ... the list is endless!) 🤗
I really appreciate that you are sharing these well edited videos and saving us many hundreds of Euros a year.
But most of all, I appreciate you for "publishing" your many years of professional knowledge in public, as you have worked hard for your knowledge and experience in the past decades.
You are a truly kind, helpful, good an honest person! Thank you on behalf of myself and all viewers! 👍👍👍
I repaired my rear shocks with that AT205. They had leaked all the oil out from the seals, so I drilled a tiny hole at the bottom and injected
one CC of AT205 into each, and filled the remaining volume with motorcycle fork oil. I then soldered the holes shut and have nearly 80,000km since
doing the repair, with no leaks at all, and they are as firm as new. It's good stuff, saved me a fortune.
Wow, that's a cool trick!
Whoa! That's brilliant!
Except that you've heat effected the metal around your solder joint, and thus have weakened the whole part overall
@@l3urlyi345 80 000km - ya.....it dont matter....hahahaha. Until you crash but by then you will be in heaven....hahahah.

Scotty. AT 205 Reseal is now off the market. I can't even find it on ebay. What is an alternative ? HELP PLEASE !!
I've been binging your videos non stop and I cant thank you enough for the amount of knowledge you've passed on! I'm quite new to automechanic work but I feel like I've learned a lifetime of invaluable information from your channel and Im excited to keep great care of my car :)
I've found immense value in starting and keeping a google sheet for each car....dates and mileage in the first two columns and ever single repair and part number and tire rotation across. My only regret is not recording costs of parts and repairs.
Preventive maintenance is key for a long journey with minimal problems 👉
This is ultra maintenance though for old cars
You are an absolute gold mine Scotty!
This is great to know. I have been looking for something that would protect the rubber suspension bushings. I thought the AT-205 might be the answer but now that I see this, Hell Yeah! WOO!

Amen on the AT-205. Per your video started using it on both my 8 year old car and my 28 year old car. I clean what I can with windex then apply AT-205. It really works just like you say . Am delighted to have leaned about it from you.
maybe if you just clean you will notice the same results
I think Scotty Kilmer hands have a mind of their own...lol I love it
lol ikr
I have mentioned that myself. Although, with time, you kinda get used to it.... Ha !!! Be well, Jonas.

Yeah, that Check's Out. 👍
Great advice Scotty! I've done the reseal process to all my older cars from the past and present. As a teenager in High I worked at a ESSO station performing Oil and Filter changes, and part of my process was lubing those seals and rubber grommets with that same solution or something similair to it.. It preserved all those rubber parts very effectively!
I can’t listen to this blokes voice.
That’s what I love about Scotty. He tells u about mistakes people usually make so u don’t need to make the same .
Hey Scotty! So I am learning so much from you and I'm grateful for your honesty. I'm not getting that anywhere else. Everywhere I take my 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor SVT I am being ripped off so now I am learning how to do a lot of things myself including just good prevention and maintenance. That being said, for this video should we clean or at least rinse off all of the rubber before putting on the ATP AT-205 reseal? Curious.
Scotty do more suspension videos! This was very helpful and informative!
Love it you don't have a intro sequence, intro music...you just get right I to it! Thank you!😎👍
Agreed!!
But he does. It's "rev up your engines!"
@@33subsnovideos35 so he has a nice short into......... incorrect to say he doesn't have one. Lol just saying
Scotty, you may want to rethink this advice. The MSDS sheet for ATP Automotive AT-205 Re-Seal lists the liquid's components as 100% glycol ethers. Glycol ethers are a commonly used solvent in paints and various cleaners. I would strongly suggest something possibly silicone-based that is far friendlier to various rubber compounds.
It’s actually designed specifically for use with rubber so I’m sure they have some sort of chemical that counteracts them or something of that nature, but me personally I use silicone spray from pb blaster
funny how mr scotty doesnt reply to your comment about him being wrong...
I'm pretty sure Scotty here knows exactly what's he's teaching about. I'm following his advice
Thanks Scotty always great help gotta do some work on the car to keep it from failing the suspension great video keep them coming been a fan for year's 👍😁

I love watching your videos Scotty, great tips and very deatailed explanation of the procedures to be done. You have a subscriber now!!! 👍
SCOTTY YOU ARE A LEGEND !
Per ATP tech support: The active ingredient in AT-205 is heat activated around degrees 180F, you will see no benefit by spraying it on a rubber object that is exposed to air, it will just evaporate. Also AT-205 needs a carrier to blend with such as engine oil or transmission fluid. We’ve actually done some test on rubber hoses, belts, etc. after a couple of hours the stuff just evaporated and you couldn’t tell it was ever applied.
😭😭😭😭😭😭 I knew something wasn't right I brought two bottles at $27 a piece and what you said where the exact results that I got 🤬 can you recommend a product that would actually work for this situation because I basically just wasted$60 in all of my time😢
This is proof that even very experienced mechanics are subject to placebo.
@@gregs6403 unfortunately this is CORRECT...... AND EXPENSIVE 🎯😝🤬
303 protectant is also very good when applied to rubber
I agree, I've used both and I think 205 lasts longer and works better for exterior rubber components in my experience
Thanks Scotty, I appreciate your info.
Good, solid advice. Thanks for sharing your experience!
You're a Boss, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm a new subscriber for sure!
Hi Scotty,
Before you I had never used or heard of AT-205. After watching your video I bought the product and tried it out. I sprayed my undercarriage suspension parts, rubber boots and everything rubber while the car was on the lift a year ago. After checking recently I found all the parts I sprayed still look new. Great product!
You being honest??

Very useful tutorial! Great job!
Thanks for the great advice Scotty. Love from the UK. 👍👍👍
Thank you Mr. Scotty for your professional advice!
The most helpful car mechanic on CZcams. Thank you for all your helpful info & preventive tips Scotty. Merry Christmas & Peace be with you and yours.
yes many times
This stuff can be amazing on what it does to rubber & many applications can go way beyond suspension...almost anything made of rubber. I had a 40 year old air pump for fish tank that had bellows that was hard & crispy. Output was weak & treated with AT-205 & a cotton swab. Treated & let cure for 1 week. Output tripled & no fish died. This stuff is also great for car door gaskets!
Thank you for your great Tips 😎❤
AT-205 really is good stuff. Thanks Scotty for saving everyone who hears this - big money.
Yeah but what about Europ what to buy?

Never heard of at205 but always wanted a way to maintain rubber. Great way to keep a vehicle driving like new. 👍 Thank you 😎
Maintaining a car is like maintaining anything else - gotta have the time, money, and desire to maintain everything. A lot of people don't maintain themselves........
I use silicone spray on all the rubber parts. One time I was out of silicone spray, so I sprayed with Mother's VLR.
Thank you sir, you are awesome. Love from NZ. Whenever I will visit Texas, will surely meet you.
Scotty please do a short series of videos on how to maintain your car, or write a book. Just list all of your tips in one place. I would love to apply your tips and see how long my next car lasts. Such a book or series of videos would make for a terrific high school or college course!

Scotty thank you for this tip! Could you also use 303 Aerospace Protectant for the same purposes instead of the AT205 Reseal?
I have for years. Or armour all, whatever is cheapest. Does it work? Absolutely.
That's a great tip Scotty! Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you. I will do the same under my cheap jeep patriot.
Yes that is true, I got some ebay suspensión parts for my weekend car that sleeps in the garage and I have to replace them already because they are cracking, the tie rods specifically, always get OEM.
Love your videos Scotty! Thank you so much for your time you spent making them.
Not only are you giving great information but the pictures you post up in the corner are hilarious and make the videos worth watching even if you didn't have a car at all!
You're such a great guy Scotty my friend and I watch your videos in the UK all the time my nickname for him is actually Scotty. Keep up the great work

If anyone is wondering, The active ingredient is "Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether". BlueDevil Power Steering Stop Leak also is the exact same thing. If you are having a hard time finding it at-205.
Is that the same stuff in Bar's Leaks One Seal Stop Leak? It's half the price of Blue Devil which in turn is half the price of AT-205.
Looking at the SDS for that product, I do not believe it has the same active ingredients.@@gregorymalchuk272
Well, I can say I've personally tried this on my daily driver (I know, very boring compared to the other comments and thier applications, please bare with me) I tried the exact product from the video and I have regretted it and will forever see Scotty K as a joke. Do NOT use this product unless you have researched it for yourself and know it's appropriate (chemically). It's been 2 years since I've done this but the damage its done was visible around 6 to 9 months later. I should've done my homework, and just stuck to WD-40. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Can you use this stuff on door/Window seals?
Hi. Scotty. Can I use 303 aerospace protection for those rubber and plastic.
I love the pictures you put in your videos Scotty. They're half the genius of each clip!
I don't have a car, but I use a scooter everyday. I replaced my engine bushings twice a year in repair shop but I watched your video and now I take good care of my vehicle, AT205 reseal makes my bushing really last longer. It's been 2 years now.
When to start AT-205 on a new vehicle? I put this on all my older vehicles when they are up on the rack. Also, what are your thoughts on 303 protectant?
This is funny, i just did my rear struts yesterday, they were quick struts tho
Thank you very much Scotty.....

Loved it Scotty! Rock on!
seems like good preventative maintenance, what about things like coolant hoses, vacuum lines, pcv hoses etc...?
Coolant hoses will crack from the inside too due the heat. Leave them as is, so you will know when to change them. Otherwise they may blow while driving and you are risking your engine
Your advices are excellent! I am not a mechanic but I have been doing a lot of research about how to fix car problems for years.. the problem is that there are too many dishonest mechanics out there
