- What happens when the engine fails in a helicopter? An autorotation! Here’s what one looks like in action helicopter #autorotation #training #schweizer #pov #gopro #sportys
- Věda a technologie
That first warning sound indicated that the hot pockets were done.
Had me for a sec there lol
lmaoo
That was a power recovery. A little different to a full on autorotation. Power recoveries are useful in the beginning of learning but full on need to be experienced too.
My school said they only do those with cfis
That's only in CPL and above
My cfi said he has 640hrs and has never done a full down
@mattwilliams316 - cpl check ride has a full touchdown as one of the testing requirements, if I remember right.
My bad that was for multi-engine helis, just checked the PTS. I had a memory as if I witnessed a full touchdown during one of the checkride, must have been an incorrect memory 😂
At least, in the United States, a full touchdown auto is required for a commercial pilot license. The day I did mine I got lucky it was blowing like stink. It was able to do it with minimal flare after the initial pitch pull. Bell 47G model.
It is a simulated engine failure! There IS aut rotation ocurring while the engine is at idle speed. He simply added power at the end recover "with power" This is a a very good, and required practice technique.
Those 269's really drop! I can have a cup of coffee on the way down in an R44.
HELICOPTERS ARE SO COOL OMG
Quando começou a apitar, eu já iria querer pular do helicóptero.
Yeah those are fun ! Flying and landing without a tail rotor ( simulated ) is a blast too !
I didn't realize you can practice for this. I thought it was like an "Ok, but did you die" kind of deals if it happened.
It’s a common method used to land on an airstrip lmao, as well as if ur flying super fast or high and lose engine power, jus autorotate to maintain revs
You can even practice full down autos where you leave the engine off until the ground. So long as you don't land too hard or fast the helicopter should be just fine
@@airbus7373"should be" is the key term. The low inertia systems can be tricky...if you flare to high...it's over.
Interesting
@@xbpbat21x the flare increases rotor rpm. If you're too high and pull too much collective to cushion the landing, it gets interesting.
Flare was a little sloppy, but it is good otherwise. Added power little early.
Calm down buddy
Fld elev - approx 800ft
Descent from 1500ft at approx 1700ft/min.
Autorotation to power recovery, did snap the throttle open abruptly but it's a sim so well done.
Do you think this is a simulation or is that a term I don't know
@@RealChadSkeen Simulated engine failure
@@HEMSJim ah thanks
Definitely heard the power at the end
Absolutely beautiful
This is recovery with power, but this is not full authorisation, In full auto rotation you don't add power but use the speed you gain to turn propeller faster, and use collective to flare nearing ground!! Try to do this without adding engine power yet touching down soft, great video dear, God bless you, Happy Landings!!
we run gimbals here power recovery at 300 agl 1 for the service letter 2 to avoid that kick at the end, especially in winds ie crosswinds may not have enough power at the end to recover from that kick ie enough pedal right away interesting to watch the differences in birds
Essa pista tá mais rachada que terra de sertão 😂😂
Se olhar exatamente, vai ver que são remendos na pista
Parece un mapa.aganla nueva ya es hora creo
Worked with a helicopter co. And I asked all the right questions-the pilots got me an hour lesson- did an autorotation and found it easier with one less thing to adjust! Later on, had gone with one of the pilots (Vietnam Vet) up in a Jet Ranger with his friend and suddenly nosed over from 1000feet ! I was hanging onto my seat and thanked them- they hadn’t warned me!! Sheesh !
I loved doing this in flight school so much that my IP used it to calm me down when I got up tight.
I think he got mixed up with a helipad and a runway😂😂😂 lol
That runway is cooled 😂
Absolutely beautiful 😅
You mean Schweitzer 269? Because of the Hughes 269 When Hughes was bought out by Schweitzer.
Good job!
Very nice.
I want to learn how to fly a helicopter one day.
Nice flying machine 🚁.
Oof. Right in the danger zone of settling with power...always a pucker.
Engine still on ??!! afraid right ?! ^^
the beeping made my cats run away immediately
I would like to see someone cutoff fuel and do this. It seems to me that even at flight idle and feathering props, it has to produce more lift rather than not having any thrust due to fuel cutoff
I flew in a private helicopter today
Nice

Đường băng vốn vậy hay bị nứt vậy. Mắt tôi có nhìn nhầm không😮
That rotor brake is looking extremely pullable today 😂
Go for it Lol 😆
The real Wrong turn 😂
3000ft per min drop?
Yes.
Jezus Christ that runway went through the dinosaurs extinction.
Non è un auto rotation! E un recupero! 😎
Humanities finest invention ❤
I was watching the pedals at the end. Tail really wants to step out..
Sink to left when approximate 5 feet because In ground effects
Nice sim, they are getting to be very good
I hope your joking
@@spyder027 I don't think sims do hairy legs yet but the external visuals appear to be simulated. The grass doesn't do rotorwash very well. I've seen light acft sims that you climb into with limited motions but realistic looking visuals.
If that's an instructor sitting alongside then he's also being very nonchalant with his hand on his knee instead of close to the cyclic.
I once knew a head instructor and his student who spent a week or so in a hospital lucky to be alive when they bashed a R-22 into a taxi way on a practice autorotation to power recovery that resulted in settling with power.
That sim runway needs to be demoed and repaved!
All them there cracks in the runway would never catch a skid on a full blown slide down the runway autorotation.
Can't see what he's doing with the collective
احب طائرات الهليكوبتر
Super
I was waiting for it scrapping down the runway.
I like Autorotation
So thats less than 20 seconds from about 700 feet. "Helicopters don't just fall out of the sky, they autorotate." Well...
😂😂😂Fuel empty warning sound⚠️
Sera q foi esse helicóptero que o Pablo Marçal voou e salvo o piloto?
Why didn't the pilot take it to the ground? Just install a wheeled tricycle landing gear
Esta pista está igual a Rod. Fernão Dias em Guarulhos..😂
Perfect.
Sounds like my microwave beeps 😂
Bom demais 😊
Started to get a little squirelly
羡慕能飞~
Esa pista es mapa de Tetris😂😂😂😂
Is this a game or is it real?
Helicopter on runway 😂
We did them to the ground in Army Flight School
Nice
Nice flair
That wasn't an autorotation.
Hermoso HUGHES 300 C
This was not an autorotation but a power recovery.
Those are not mutually exclusive. Most autorotations are practiced with a power recovery at the bottom (not a “full down”). But it’s still a glide - an autorotation - when the engine and rotor RPM needles split.
Pro avião: ten
Pro helicóptero: vai pro brejo😂😂😂😂😂
Autogyro is scary..
Almost landed! You'll get better. Keep trying
Good save last 20 feet
White knuckles time.
Smooth
👍👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
what is the name of game?
Авторотация в играх и задачах 😂😂😂
I thought its a game😂

Wow!
Acima de uma pista é fácil, quero ver quando abaixo de você tiver prédio ou, mesmo, um paliteiro.
И где авторотация?..снижение видел))

To a power recovery!
P.T. couldn't have done it better. I know I'm dating myself.
Close your flight plan!

That runway is so bad, so its a sim.
Still waiting to get it down?
*LOL* you can *LITERALLY* hear the engine running..
Then when he SUPPOSEDLY turns his airspeed into LIFT, which is a point where the rotor loses a lot of RPM.. you can hear it SPEEDING UP.
This is by far ABSOLUTELY NOT auto rotation.
I feel bad for all the wannabe enthusiasts that are fooled by this, because it proves they know nothing and when they ever try to fly one someday they'll die.
Exactly. Thing is with autorotation, there is no possible way you can create sufficient lift for an extended period of time without the rotor loosing momentum. If it was real autorotation, they would get lift but only for a decent second before starting to plummet to the ground. Im not sure if he turned off the engine kid flight and turned it back on, but that would put a strain on the engine and could damage it. Besides, you can hear the engine running constantly throughout the video. So this vid is a cap 🧢
Looking at the gauge, it would appear the engine increased in rpm just before it landed, which is s bit odd, if there is no engine power to the blades! 🤪
Lmao, not a full autorotation
Parece real kkkkkkkk
Pe pe pe pero que pansa
Autorotation? Sure???
That was under power
