The same with me. I used to play guitar and drums when i was a kid, only lasted a year. This year I started listening to Metallica, then Megadeth and Slayer joined. When i listen to metallica and megadeth, it makes me want to learn to play guitar, but as soon as I started with Slayer, and to his infamous drummer, I couldnt believe how someone was able to play like that. I just took my first drum class yesterday in years, and im looking forward to more. Bad thing is that its expensive as hell, and yesterday class was free.

Everything in extreme Metal genres we are listening to now has been influenced by this record and it never gets old.

Among the Big 4 of Thrash Metal, Slayer is the most "extreme" in terms of speed and brutality. The opposite end of the Big 4 spectrum is Anthrax, who is more melodic, especially in the vocals. They started out doing traditional thrash but branched out pretty quickly. A couple of songs from their early thrash era: "A.I.R." and "I Am the Law".

I only know this song because of Guitar Hero...3...if I remember correctly. I do remember it being so infamously hard at the time, compared to what Guitar Hero had done before. There were CZcams videos of people failing that intro section within seconds 😄. I was never good at the game, so when I managed to just hit the fast strums at the beginning consistently it felt like an accomplishment. Then it transitions to the even faster part and I was done.

Amazing reaction my friend Aileen!!...I love your reactions to Dimash, the best male singer of the world (In my personal opinion)...Now I want to invite you to meet, who is considered one of the Best Female Singers of the World (The best in my personal opinion)...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian.....Lara is the best female singer and performer of the world...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see covers of her songs on CZcams made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Polina Gagarina, Forestella, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Giulia Falcone, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Rimar, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Lara...Here you have the link of her amazing performance of the son>g “Je Suis Malade”....czcams.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/video.html

Great reaction. Slayer is good. If you ever want to react to something very slow and HEAVY, react to CROWBAR. The songs are Planets Collide and Lasting Dose. That would be pretty awesome to see you react to one of those. Thanks. 🤘🏻

Slayer's Crionics is where it's at. The track was so heavy. So far ahead of its time. This song to me built what thrash and old school death has in its blood.

I absolutely love slayer, first album I heard was reign in blood and was literally blown away, my favorites are reign in blood, hell awaits, haunting the chapel, south of heaven, seasons in the abyss! They are absolutely powerful, I finally got to see them live in Seattle at quest field and it was a literal war zone and they sounded phenomenal.

That song is the last one from their album Reign in Blood, the album has 10 songs in total, and has a run time of just under 30 minutes. The whole album is a tour de force for your ears, it is fast and aggressive, and you WILL be exhausted by the end, and I fucking love it.

The first time I saw Slayer in concert was 2007 in Norfolk Virginia at the Norva. While still standing in line to get into the building, we were third in line and had been waiting for about two hours in the snow, Slayer's tour bus pulled up outside. I don't really remember why now because it's been 15 years, but the band was trying to get back into their bus but the door wouldn't open. Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo were trying their best to kick the door open. It was hilarious.
Absolutely love Slayer, and Tom Araya is such an awesome person!

Saw them on their retirement tour in San Antonio, TX. When they played this, I wanted to see all the pits start to swirl to this more than actually watching them play it. I watched them play it while I recorded the mosh pits on my phone. Multitasking.

You're comparing it to other Metal bands. You have to put this in the context of when it came out. In the same year this came out the following songs were released: Madonna - Papa Don't Preach, The Bangles - Manic Monday, Eddie Murphy - Party All The Time, Robert Palmer - Addicted To Love, Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name, Cyndi Lauper - True Colors, Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith - Walk This Way.
When you turn on the TV to MTV or put on the radio and all you hear is stuff like that THEN hear something like THIS... this was like Hell itself opened up and unleashed a horde of Demons to destroy the Earth by comparison. 😈 God I love Slayer! I wish I could see them live in concert again. Saw them a bunch of time and it was the best! I was like 3rd row from the stage at one show while they played this song. Complete and utter mayhem in the most amazing way possible.
Edit: Forget songs, look up comedian Jim Breuer's story about seeing Slayer and interacting with Slayer Fans. It's all accurate and absolutely hilarious! In fact I'll just link it here for anyone to see because it's that funny: czcams.com/video/gVxnWBQ9_1k/video.html

    Slayer was :
Kerry King - Lead & Rhythm guitars
Jeff Hanneman - Lead & Rhythm guitars (R.I.P. - he was substituted when he got sick with Exodus guitarist Gary Holt)
Tom Araya - Bass guitar and lead vocals
Dave Lombardo - Drums (replaced later on by Paul Bostaph)
After Jeff's passing, Slayer released one more album and tour before calling it a day.
Slayer was THE heaviest of the Big 4 of thrash metal where as Megadeth is the most technical, Metallica who became the more popular (arguably) and Anthrax who were the craziest lol!

the best thing about this kind of music, and what non-metalheads don't get, is that listening to it for a few songs releases any angst or negativity you may have built up during a regular day. you might want to punch a wall before listening but a few songs later and you'll be awash with the urge to bang your head in time whilst riffing on your air guitar... very theraputic 😎🤘☘
    Respect & Peace ☘

Hell yeah. Their best stuff (imo) is on their first 4 albums; Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits, (Haunting the Chapel~4 song ep), Reign in Blood.
After that their stuff is still good, it's just different. Like AC/DC, they don't make a bad song, they make good songs, and great songs. The first time i saw them was on their
Hell Awaits tour, in a tiny venue, basically a bar, called Liberty Lunch. I was standing directly in front of the stage left, the whole time, less than 10' from Jeff Hanneman.
I like how Jeff and Kerry's leads are just mayhem, it fits perfect with the music. And of course Dave Lombardo's drums are killer, Tom's voice fits perfectly into it all.
It's amazing how diverse their first album is compared to their later stuff.
