Media coach Janessa Slater (Vanessa Bayer - Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) talks to Modest Mouse lead singer and guitarist Isaac Brock and gives her take on this question and the music industry as a whole. The pair also discuss the music festival circuit and Janessa tries to convince Isaac to change the band’s musical style.

She’s actually telling him that she listens to his music and that he’s someone who listens to others. She’s communicating to him that they are both alike in this same, good way. The words she was saying were true about about her as much as him.

When she tells us to get in the back seat on the business side, she’s telling us to drink the kool-aid so we can be feel happy and in control. She then chides us as strange for not submitting to her guidance and thinking for ourselves.

Boy lost the weight. He's like Chino Moreno. Was originally skinny and was doing a lot of drugs, got successful and kicked the drugs and blew up like a fucking balloon, eventually became comfortably chubby, then fairly recently hired a personal trainer or his wife gave him a kick in the ass and they got skinny again. It's uncanny.
Though last I heard Isaac was hitting the pipe again since Strangers dropped. Shouldn't give much credence to rumors but his recent car accident backs it up which is unfortunate.

The problem with Janessa's advice is that nothing she comes up with will be as crazy as what this band does on a regular basis. Isaac wasn't particularly impressed, I think.
