Hi Erik, I'm glad my videos help you. Making a Style is not an easy job, especially if it is made from scratch. I never do that. I always take another Style as a base and then process it to my liking. It is so much easier, and the result is better and faster. Creating a Style with Cakewalk alone is not possible. You need to enter CASM data and more another data in the Style header. Cakewalk cannot handle this information. Ok, I have started a new project and I am doing exactly what you say in the video. I connected my PSR 770 to my PC and I listen to the midi file in midi2style through my PSR instrument. Now, since you are using a Genos, I do not get the same screen as you in the keyboard. What is the setting I have to use in the keyboard to be able to see and control stuff through the PSR's mixer. Should I press create a new style?
Okay, now you have started to work properly but still do not follow my instructions carefully. You don't need to do anything on your PSR, it just serves to listen to (04:36) a MIDI file that plays in midi2style. What is shown on the Genos screen is not important at all and is only of an informative. You need to continue working in the midi2style program. I hope you have included the subtitles and followed them, they describe every step.

I already learned how to separate different parts into introduction, main and ending. Now I will try to polish the different parts and learn how to copy/paste between sections. I work slow because I am 74 years old.

Imam jedno pitanje oko sinhronizacije: da li je ikako moguce podesiti sinhronizaciju tako da se sve isprogramira u npr. Cubase-u i onda putem sinhronizacije to snimiti direktno u style creator na klavijaturi(naravno kanal po kanal)? To uporno pokusavam i ne funkcionise na Tyros 4 koji trenutno sviram, a recimo na Korg Pa ili Roland Ea7 to funkcionise? Da li imas iskustva oko ovog problema?
To sam radio daaavnooo ali ne na Yamahi. '93 sam tako prebacivao ritam gitare sa Korga i3 na svog Technicsa i radilo je odlično. Danas za tim nema potrebe, pogotovo ne na Yamahi. Zato to nisam niti probavao. Ako imaš uređen MIDI u Cubase, prebaci ga u midi2style i samo odredi taktove i Partove. Jedino ako postoji nekakav razlog zašto baš želiš snimati traku po traku, meni ovog trena ne para na pamet zašto bi radio tom metodom.

Upravo sam probao, sinhronizacija snimanja ritma u Style Creatoru sa Cubase ide bez problema. U Cubase treba uskladiti MIDI Clock destination sa ulaznim portom i odgovarajućim kanalom na klavijaturi.

Hello Casper..great but i've a problem: I created my own style. When I want to balance the volumes of the various parts, in style creator I go to the mixer section and I do it and save the style. But when I call it back, I find the original volumes again
Your modification is written only in the first bar of the Style (header). In addition to this, there are obviously controls after the MARKER that are activated later and therefore the change you want does not happen. The solution is to open Style in the MixMaster program and delete unnecessary controls after the Marker. I created my style but when playing it the cymbals and hi hats mute immediately after they sound. And I want to have rhythm sub and rhythm main. Rhythm main is in channel 10 rhythm sub is in channel 9 but I am not able to select rhythm sub for channel 9 Please help me out🙏🏻

Thank you for another helpful tutorial. Do you know if it's possible to disable the auto transposition in midi2syle? It seems to be trying to convert all chords to C but I want it to keep all the notes original (I already transposed them upfront). I don't see an option to disable this. Also when opening this style on a keyboard I cannot edit it in the step editor, it either locks it or saves it in some incompatible format. Do you know if this can be fixed so it's editable?

Hi. I let my style project rest for a while and started again last week. I went through all the steps indicated by you up to separating one possible introduction, three main variations and two endings. While listening to the style in my Yamaha PSR 770 I noticed that a violin part sounds bad. I went back to your video and I realized that, just like the style creator in the PSR, the midi2style software automatically converts the midi file to CM7 and the midi song I am using is in G. Once the style is fully created, when I start playing the style in G, will the violins sound correctly?

I hope you have installed the USB MIDI drivers, as I have recommended to you on two occasions. ;-) To listen to MIDI over the A5000, you need to change Device in the midi2style program. 03:04

m2s cannot be opened in MixMaster. Style has a * .sty extension and must be able to open in MixMaster. Check again if * .sty is in the folder you are opening in MM.

Well, your tutorial is very nice but, I have 2 problems. 1>The chord change is too obvious. The PSR SX700 uses * uvn / uvd / sf2 / rex / rx2 / rcy format samples. You can enter Waw and Aiff to create sounds. Korg has a different format and cannot be entered directly into Yamaha. ++++++++++ Casper nisam znao da radiš i takve stvari svaka čast.Doneo sam sada Roland G70 radi radoznalosti jer ga svi jako hvale na youtube.Ostavio sam još Technics KN7000 i sa njega sam hteo pretvoriti ritmove za roland na Styleworks i praviti nove iz midi file ali to je užas posle na klaviaturi.Skinuo sam nešto na yu-midi da vidim ali ne valja baš ništa tako mi nije jasno kako neki pišu da je sve u redu pa nisam hteo tamo da pišem ništa.Nisam tamo otvarao novu temu pa bih te pitao dali možda znaš ako postoji kakav takav program kao što je ovaj za rolanda.Znam da ih ima ali ne znam koji su dobri.Ako se sječam i ti si nekada imao rolanda jer si napisao jednom da si od rolanda koristio onaj ritam Rubato za KN7000. Jedini koverter i jest ovaj koji ti koristiš, StyleWorks. On napravi konverziju "u grubo" kako bi Style uopće mogao svirati na klavijaturi. Tek se poslije mora uređivati u klavijaturi i to je mukotrpan posao. Znaš li da KN ima koverter ritmova s drugih klavijatura i da u sebi ima mogućnost izrade ritmova iz MIDIja? Nisam pobornik konverzije Stylova iz jedne u drugu klavijaturu ili izrade Styla iz MIDIja. Razlog je jednostavan, previše je to posla, a rezultat je uvijek upitan. Meni je jednostavnije odabrati odgovarajući Style koji se nalazi u klavijaturi i uz njega izvesti pjesmu. Eventualno taj Style obradim i malo ga prilagodim za pjesmu i to je sve. @@amerikanstafford

I am totally lost right at the beginning. I use Acid Pro DAW and I opened a MIDI sequence in that DAW to use it to work with midi2style. I do not get a screen like the one you have in the tutorial. I get a small screen that supposedly is for the measure count. I changed to midi file in Acid to 0 instead of 1 and when I try to open it in the small screen at midi2style, it reads that the file name is incorrect. I read the instructions 10 times and I still do no understand the transfer method from the DAW to the midi2style software. Can somebody help?
@@CasperVideo When I open the software I just get a small screen to adjust Division Measure and it has a File option for new or open. New does not do anything and open tells me wrong file name when I try to open a midi sequence that has a .mid extension. I wish I could send you a screen shot. Maybe I have to re install the software.
801 / 5000 Hi Casper Great video, interesting and useful as always. I know about Jørgen Sørensen's program and when I can I donate to support his work. I learned to use it by trying and trying again with mixed results (often due to my mistakes and not to the program). What I find difficult is understanding how I should assign voices / instruments to the program (chord1 / 2, phaser1 / 2, pad). Easy to understand what the bass and drum kit track is, but the rest I have to try converting and listening to the results track to track. For example in an intro if I used chord 1/2, bad result, while selecting only phaser 1/2 the result was perfect at midi. Also, if there are other tracks / channels / voices beyond the 6 settable (excluding the drum kit I mean) what should you do? Congratulations Pietro from Italy. One last thing as the midi contains the melody track (usually on ch 4) must be muted before carrying out the conversion.
Hi Pietro, in the second video I will explain a little better how to choose the Melody line on INTRO and ENDING. You should always choose Phrase 1/2 because accompaniments play on CHD1 / 2. This can be set differently but the midi2style program does not have this option. A great tool that has this capability is StyleMagic YA. When there are multiple instruments in MIDI, then you should choose the ones that are most appropriate for the style. There are the most important chords 1 and 2, everything else is just an upgrade. Wait for the next video, it will be soon.

Actually I am editing a style by turning it into midi then editing it and converting it to style. The problem here is the original style uses duplicate bass, guitars,piano etc for intro and ending so I am not able to give a voice for the duplicate channels.
I am creating another style and everything is fine but all tracks except drums, in ending, just mute while using the style. Do you have any solution to this problem?

There is not. The Style structure does not recognize Sustain and Portamento controls.

Imam jedno pitanje oko sinhronizacije: da li je ikako moguce podesiti sinhronizaciju tako da se sve isprogramira u npr. Cubase-u i onda putem sinhronizacije to snimiti direktno u style creator na klavijaturi(naravno kanal po kanal)?
To uporno pokusavam i ne funkcionise na Tyros 4 koji trenutno sviram, a recimo na Korg Pa ili Roland Ea7 to funkcionise?
Da li imas iskustva oko ovog problema?
To sam radio daaavnooo ali ne na Yamahi. '93 sam tako prebacivao ritam gitare sa Korga i3 na svog Technicsa i radilo je odlično. Danas za tim nema potrebe, pogotovo ne na Yamahi. Zato to nisam niti probavao. Ako imaš uređen MIDI u Cubase, prebaci ga u midi2style i samo odredi taktove i Partove. Jedino ako postoji nekakav razlog zašto baš želiš snimati traku po traku, meni ovog trena ne para na pamet zašto bi radio tom metodom.

Upravo sam probao, sinhronizacija snimanja ritma u Style Creatoru sa Cubase ide bez problema. U Cubase treba uskladiti MIDI Clock destination sa ulaznim portom i odgovarajućim kanalom na klavijaturi.

I don’t do that procedure so I can’t be precise. Make a ritardando at the end of the process, when you have finished making the Style in Midi2Style.

Hello Casper..great but i've a problem: I created my own style. When I want to balance the volumes of the various parts, in style creator I go to the mixer section and I do it and save the style. But when I call it back, I find the original volumes again
Your modification is written only in the first bar of the Style (header). In addition to this, there are obviously controls after the MARKER that are activated later and therefore the change you want does not happen. The solution is to open Style in the MixMaster program and delete unnecessary controls after the Marker.

There are several reasons why cymbals are muted. You need to look at the controls, this is best done with the MixMaster program.
To create a Rhy Sub, there must be a drum track on channel 9.

Do you know if it's possible to disable the auto transposition in midi2syle? It seems to be trying to convert all chords to C but I want it to keep all the notes original (I already transposed them upfront). I don't see an option to disable this.
Also when opening this style on a keyboard I cannot edit it in the step editor, it either locks it or saves it in some incompatible format. Do you know if this can be fixed so it's editable?
Automatic transpositions cannot be turned off on the MAIN section.

Hi. I let my style project rest for a while and started again last week. I went through all the steps indicated by you up to separating one possible introduction, three main variations and two endings. While listening to the style in my Yamaha PSR 770 I noticed that a violin part sounds bad. I went back to your video and I realized that, just like the style creator in the PSR, the midi2style software automatically converts the midi file to CM7 and the midi song I am using is in G. Once the style is fully created, when I start playing the style in G, will the violins sound correctly?

HI Gasper . with your help i installed Midi2style, i connected the laptop to A-5000 using usb A B cable. i can not hear the midi files on yamaha. m2s cannot be opened in MixMaster. Style has a * .sty extension and must be able to open in MixMaster.

Well, your tutorial is very nice but, I have 2 problems.
1>The chord change is too obvious. Suppose I am playing a song in C major scale, I want to use GCE inversion for C, GBD inversion for G and FAC inversion for F.
2>All tracks in ending except the drum tracks just stop in between notes.
Do you have any solution?
It is not enough just to do the conversion with midi2style. In order for Style to be completely good, additional processing and a lot of knowledge of the structure of Style is required.

The PSR SX700 uses * uvn / uvd / sf2 / rex / rx2 / rcy format samples. You can enter Waw and Aiff to create sounds. Korg has a different format and cannot be entered directly into Yamaha. It needs to be converted to sf2 and can then be entered into YEM.

On se čuje kod editiranja i preslušavanja u Style Creatoru u klaviajturi ali na svirci, kada koristimo Style, taj CM7 se ne čuje. Sedmi ton osigurava da imamo pravilan dur, mol i sedmicu. Predpostavljam da pod pojmom "sablona" podrazumjevaš drugačiju frazu za svaki drugačiji akord. To se kod Yamahe zove Chord Switching, a kako se on izrađuje, objasnio sma u ovom videu.

The midi2style program automatically converts all accompaniment channels to CM7. It all depends on how you configure it.
++++++++++ Casper nisam znao da radiš i takve stvari svaka čast.Doneo sam sada Roland G70 radi radoznalosti jer ga svi jako hvale na youtube.Ostavio sam još Technics KN7000 i sa njega sam hteo pretvoriti ritmove za roland na Styleworks i praviti nove iz midi file ali to je užas posle na klaviaturi.Skinuo sam nešto na yu-midi da vidim ali ne valja baš ništa tako mi nije jasno kako neki pišu da je sve u redu pa nisam hteo tamo da pišem ništa.Nisam tamo otvarao novu temu pa bih te pitao dali možda znaš ako postoji kakav takav program kao što je ovaj za rolanda.Znam da ih ima ali ne znam koji su dobri.Ako se sječam i ti si nekada imao rolanda jer si napisao jednom da si od rolanda koristio onaj ritam Rubato za KN7000.

Iz Technicsa da pretvorim ritmove za Roland G70 kojeg sam sada doneo ili od Yamahe.Još bolje ako iz midi file uradim ritam za G70.Imam oko tri Styleworks sa licencom koje mi poslao drug iz njemačke ali sam znaš da to ne valja.Na računalo čak radi još dobro a dok metnem na sint sve se poremeti samo je par ritmova od yamahe uspjelo ali još treba puno rada na njima u klavijaturi ali na Kn7000 to bilo lakše sredidi nego sad na rolandu.Ima na rolandu direkt conwerter sa midi file na stl ali još nikako da provalim kako čitavog ispravno da sredim zato bolje bio bi neki program ali neznam koji odgovara.

Jedini koverter i jest ovaj koji ti koristiš, StyleWorks. On napravi konverziju "u grubo" kako bi Style uopće mogao svirati na klavijaturi. Tek se poslije mora uređivati u klavijaturi i to je mukotrpan posao. Znaš li da KN ima koverter ritmova s drugih klavijatura i da u sebi ima mogućnost izrade ritmova iz MIDIja? Nisam pobornik konverzije Stylova iz jedne u drugu klavijaturu ili izrade Styla iz MIDIja. Razlog je jednostavan, previše je to posla, a rezultat je uvijek upitan. Meni je jednostavnije odabrati odgovarajući Style koji se nalazi u klavijaturi i uz njega izvesti pjesmu. Eventualno taj Style obradim i malo ga prilagodim za pjesmu i to je sve. @@amerikanstafford

M2s format not play/read only .sty played/ read
m2s is an extension for the project you created in the midi2style program. m2s only contains data to call the project back into the program.

I am totally lost right at the beginning. I use Acid Pro DAW and I opened a MIDI sequence in that DAW to use it to work with midi2style. I do not get a screen like the one you have in the tutorial. I get a small screen that supposedly is for the measure count. I changed to midi file in Acid to 0 instead of 1 and when I try to open it in the small screen at midi2style, it reads that the file name is incorrect. I read the instructions 10 times and I still do no understand the transfer method from the DAW to the midi2style software. Can somebody help?
You don't need ACID. Open your MIDI file in the midi2style program. You adjust the window size in the menu

New does not do anything and open tells me wrong file name when I try to open a midi sequence that has a .mid extension. I wish I could send you a screen shot. Great video, interesting and useful as always. I know about Jørgen Sørensen's program and when I can I donate to support his work. I learned to use it by trying and trying again with mixed results (often due to my mistakes and not to the program). What I find difficult is understanding how I should assign voices / instruments to the program (chord1 / 2, phaser1 / 2, pad). Easy to understand what the bass and drum kit track is, but the rest I have to try converting and listening to the results track to track. For example in an intro if I used chord 1/2, bad result, while selecting only phaser 1/2 the result was perfect at midi. Also, if there are other tracks / channels / voices beyond the 6 settable (excluding the drum kit I mean) what should you do? Congratulations Pietro from Italy. One last thing as the midi contains the melody track (usually on ch 4) must be muted before carrying out the conversion.
Hi Pietro,
in the second video I will explain a little better how to choose the Melody line on INTRO and ENDING. You should always choose Phrase 1/2 because accompaniments play on CHD1 / 2. This can be set differently but the midi2style program does not have this option. A great tool that has this capability is StyleMagic YA.
When there are multiple instruments in MIDI, then you should choose the ones that are most appropriate for the style. There are the most important chords 1 and 2, everything else is just an upgrade. Wait for the next video, it will be soon.

Actually I am editing a style by turning it into midi then editing it and converting it to style. The problem here is the original style uses duplicate bass, guitars,piano etc for intro and ending so I am not able to give a voice for the duplicate channels.
