The version I heard was that Hogan got HBK to agree to the program by promising him that Hogan would win the first match, HBK the second, and then Hogan the third, and Michaels was just fine with that... and then, the day of the match, Hogan pulled his Creative Control clause and decided that it would be a one-match program and he would not only go over, he would just destroy Michaels without HBK getting any significant offense in. Thus, Michaels does the overselling in protest.

Yeah, I mean it’s not like Shawn ever weaseled himself out of putting someone over before.
How is what Hulk did different from what Shawn did to Bret in 96-97
Was Shawn wronged in this case? Yes, but Bret was too, and Bret made a great match out of it rather than a mess.

As a teenager I didn't realize that Michaels was making a fool of Hogan... I thought that they were saying, in kayfabe, that Hogan was just that much more powerful than Michaels that he could whoop his ass all over the ring like that. It wasn't until a few years ago when I came across a discussion of the match that I ever learned what had been going on behind the scenes and how hilarious it all actually was.

I’ve been planning on starting wrestling training this summer.
This is just so informative. I’ve always wondered what is it about heel selling vs face selling that makes sure the heel doesn’t get sympathy. This definitely makes sense as a difference as we wouldn’t care as much for someone flipping like an octopus in a washing machine.
I can also apply this to something like Austin and Hart’s double turn. Passing out from blood loss seems like a more realistic sell than an over sell, so it should garner sympathy.

The cost can vary, though it’s a good indicator of the quality of the school.
It’s best to see what is near you. See if there’s anyone reputable. If they have a big name come from the school, or if they are a big name, or if they were trained by a big name, that’s a good sign
The school I found was formerly part of NWA Upstate in Rochester, NY Brodie Lee came from there, as well as Colin Delaney. It was rather cheap at $100 dollars a month, for 3 hours a night 3 days a week
I’m told most schools should cost that much, but probably more.
I never had a match because I wasn’t good enough. I never really intended to be a wrestler, I was more training as a manager. Booking never got around to me, it can happen, though I also never made a splash in ticket sales. For most promoters, if you can sell 10 or more tickets each month, they’ll find something for you to do.
That isn’t to say I didn’t do anything. I was a locker room interviewer, I was a commentator, I was in a few battle royals, but I only ever managed in practice matches in the school.
It does hurt, but you get used to it.
Bumping is an acquired feeling. It definitely hurts, but the feeling doesn’t linger.
      Accidents can happen though
I was once dropped out of a battle royal, landed on our wooden ring steps and bruised my knee so bad I could barely walk up stairs for a week. I also bled through my gimmick.
There was also the time at training where I mistimed a guy’s leapfrog and he ended up coming down on my neck. My first thought was OW, my second thought was oh no I may have just killed his crotch. I found out he had a cup so that was fine.
It’s nothing that a few ibuprofen a night for a week can’t fix.
It’s a good experience overall, but it is very expensive.

whenever michaels comes up with them Jim will tell events that made him angry and say what he thought of him back then but does not always bury him and will judge each circumstance fairly. Bryan seems to have this vendetta against Shawn taking as many shots at him as possible whenever he comes up in conversation and I don't know why? Jim has much more reason to do this but doesn't show the same bias when Shawn comes up. I like Bryan but this is one thing that has always irritated me about him.

He just cost Undertaker the WWE title. The next month was the first ever Hell in the Cell match which was was better. But the match at Ground Zero was Shawn over selling to Undertaker. It would of been a better match if It would of been done right. Thankfully the Cell match and Casket match at Royal Rumble made up for it.

This is why he either quit or has been terminated from every promotion that he’s worked for. I respect him for being a genuine prick, rather than being a bitch and corporate yes man, because of society’s opinions and standards of what is considered “politically correct” .. and to answer your initial question of what level of success has he actually attained. He’s seen it all and done it all.. From starting out in the wrestling business as a photographer, to becoming a manager, promoter, booker, territory owner (Smokey Mountain Wrestling, part owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE’s old, developmental territory) and wrestling historian. Read up on his history of managing a variety of different wrestlers and tag teams and their title wins and reigns, educating yourself, before posing the question of what level of success he has actually attained..
