- Duncton Quest is the second book in The Duncton Chronicles, a trilogy by the Brittish writer William Horwood.
I listened to this on audio (the second audiobook ever for me) and in this video I give a couple of (spoiler-free) previews of the narration, which stand out for me.

Library looks good. Best wishes with your reading choices.
Every time I hear you discuss any of the Duncton books it makes me more and more determined to find my own copies and read them myself
I hope you can find them, Dan. They are absolutely worth the effort!
Thank you! Based on your recommendation I have just completed the trilogy, mostly listening to Duncton Found while reading the first two. Wonderful experience!
I'm so glad you liked it!
Hello! I am about 65% through Duncton Wood and agree that the book would be more readable with fewer endless descriptions of dirt, roots, fields and tunnels! I have begun to skim over the descriptions and hope I'm not missing anything crucial to the story!😕 The paperback copy of Duncton Quest that I found has 917 pages! Oy vey!! Thank you for another visit!!
Hi, it looks like Duncton Wood is becoming a bit of a chore for you. Please don't feel obliged to like it. It is MY lack of empathy that not all people are wildly enthusiastic about these books. To me the length was not an issue at all, because I flew threw them (including the many descriptions).
It's my first anthropomorphic read since Beatrix Potter as an 8 YO! I want to get to Quest, I just didn't realize that it was so long. 🙂 For me, an ideal book length is about 250 - 300 pages. It's the reason the dozen books or so of the WOT don't appeal to me at all. I'm more interested in plots and characters than I am environments. Also, I get many of my reads from the library. When there are queues for popular books, I try to finish them quickly so that others get them. I have waited nearly 5 months on Red Rising on libby, so I'll take it when I get to the front of the line. I'm also waiting on the Lynch book that I noticed in your hands on a previous thumbnail. I own a physical copy of Duncton Wood, so it sometimes gets bumped in priority. Not a chore!! I love your enthusiasm and have enjoyed several books thanks to your recommendations. I would have never heard of them if not for you.
@@bjminton2698Thanks for clarifying this for me. Please let me know when The Lies of Locke Lamorra gets bumped in priority. I'll read it along with you!
A buddy read of the first of the Gentleman Bastard series sounds good! I think it's quite long, too, and different from all of my current reading subjects. I'll let you know when I get to the front of the queue. 🙂
@@bjminton2698Yes, with 725 pages this book exceeds your preffered lenght just a little bit. The usual Fantasy-lenght I'd say...
May be a while before I get to these…
And why exactly is that, Mr. Nev? Don't tell me your TBR is too big! 😇
@@DutchGreyBeard well that and I don’t own them all yet!
@@NevsBookChannel Alright, was just trying to be funny, in a very lame way...
