When people said the 80’s were weird, they meant it.
You had to have read the "Howard the Duck" comic magazine for awhile to really get the movie. Familiarity works wonders in that respect. (And probably less than 1% of the entire population was familiar with the comic at the time. Probably even a lot less now.)

1:36 YOU KNOW FOR KIDS!!!! LOL
Especially it PG Movie 😂 How is this allow it pg movie? 😂
Parents back then had to cover their kids eyes, but it was so quick, that the couldn't raise their hands fast enough. Unless they went to see the movie first, alone. But then they were occupied with each other by that point. It came as a shock to most people.

This scared the shit out of me as a kid
The Empire Strikes Back scared the shit put of me when I was a toddler back in the early 1980s. Our nearest city was so for out in the boonies that films were already on VHS by the time our theaters got them. JURASSIC PARK was at BLOCKBUSTER before I saw it in a theater.

One of the first marvel comics movies to ever come out
Yea surprised they have a live action Captain America during 1944 that’s pretty wild! 😂
If you were to count this movie as part of the MCU, the person reading the intro would probably be Uatu The Watcher, (which I think would be absolutely fucking awesome). Also a great musical score by the late, great, legendary John Barry (composer of such epic scores like ZULU, OUT OF AFRICA, SOMEWHERE IN TIME, The theme to JAMES BOND, and many of the original Sir Sean Connery Bond films, KING KONG 76, DANCES WITH WOLVES, THE MIDNIGHT COWBOY, and Disney's THE BLACK HOLE, etc.

I was 11 that year, but I didn't get to see it until it came out on VHS, and my parents rented it from a local small rental shop for my brother's and I one weekend. Those little places were great. We also had to rent the VCR, which was a top loader, so the video may have been BETAMAX.

There was a comic where an employee from Marvel Comics ends up in Duckworld. Weird bit of trivia: Disney at one time threatened Marvel Comics with a lawsuit over Howard because they claimed he was a little too much like Donald Duck. Apparently the only thing that saved Marvel was putting pants on Howard. And now they own Howard, Donald and Marvel...
I loved this movie
Some serious duck nudity in this.
Not too bad unless it offended most ppl I can see it didn’t offend me 😂 I mean the Ducks look pretty creepy if it was in real life but for a comedy movie how were they supposed to look? 😂
1986 and the FX are much better than todays
That's because they used mechanical puppetry for Howard's face, with a voice- over, and those Lords of The Universe monsters were stop motion animated puppets. CGI was still in its infancy, what with TRON being just a few years earlier,, and most effects being painted on the actual film cell by cell.
@@jacobshort6528 Those dark overlords were actually built and sculpted out of clay first and then animated and put into a computer and then animated puppets were created! They used if any very little CGI as it was really wasn't readily available back in 1986 as it is today! 🤗🤔💻👍

Since he's a Marvel character, does that mean the narrator is the Watcher 🤔?
We could all imagine it being the Watcher, as it’s some Watcher shit to say 😅
why do special effects in the 80s still look better then they do now.
In space no one can hear you . . . quack.
Why does the song that play during the title showing sound similar to the map selection theme from SNES StarFox.
Just pointing that out. It been a long, long time since I saw this movie. But now watching this again. And also someone who’s played StarFox? And heard that theme. Compare the two themes together?
I guess that ya gotta watch the movie to possibly find out how a worm hole opens whereby it just targets a particular duck inside of an apartment complex and leaves alone all of the other ducks around him
1:23 It's not an earthquake, 1:54 Howard is being swallowed up by a dimensional ray 3:05 transporting to the real life Earth of the universe.
I really got excited, after watching the arrival on Earth my Stomach turned in a bowel movement. Hope they revive this potential character, I think he needed sometime of powers. What made this character so special anyways?.. but a unique concept.

@@marvelswadeteamup400 Crazy Eddie was an electronics dealer on the east coast that used to run adds exactly like that where hed come out and smash TVs and stereos with a sledgehammer or bat. The "Crazy Webby" commercial on the TV is a parody of those old 80s commercials for his store.

1:35 they really show THAT on PG Movie!?!?
No wonder people love the 80s 😂😂😂
What kind of shit were they on when they thought of that?
Filmmakers and special effects artists back then snuck in titillating scenes that only lasted a split second into METRIC TONNES of films during the 80s. It was like subliminal programming, almost. Did you go out and look for any of the featured products they showed us?
😂😂😂

What was most funny was George Lucas executive producer!!??? Lol. I had no idea. I saw this when it came out on video. Howard was cute. So sad he was taken away from his home. All I remember is Leah telling him no you won’t be able to go home but he chose to stay and save them. Still sad he never went home.
A pretty fucked up ending
1:06 & 1:35
God what happened to these old lightning/energy blast sound effects??
Back then CGI was freaking expensive, and only done by a couple computer companies in California's Silicon Valley. The effects people had to use actual paint on movie cells, really real explosions, and probably buy copies of the sounds from Industrial Light And Magic, that was owned by this film's producer George Lucas!
2:07 2:08 2:09 2:10
Oh I remember this .. Sometimes there was too much detail ..
Good movie.thanks.my birthday is today.✅🆒🍓👋

Someone should upload the whole movie.
I never came across this movie as a kid. If I did, I'd probably feel misled if I noticed the official movie poster first because it kinda gives off the impression that Howard landed on earth as an egg and then hatched. It makes no sense for the poster to show him hatching from his egg if he's already set to be as an adult.
Unless the poster artist had been a fan of Mork and Mindy. When Mork, (the late great Robin Williams), arrived on Earth 🌎 his ship was a great big egg that hatched him out.
@@jacobshort6528 Funny because Robin Williams actually auditioned and was booked and won the part for Howard The Duck. But sadly he quit after about a week into production LOL! 🥚🦆🎥🤔
