0:00 Intro
0:05 The camshaft variator is part of the Variable Valve Timing System (VVTS.) This system alters the timing of the valve lift in order to improve gas mileage, lower harmful emissions, and ensure high performance whenever you drive. The variator itself attaches to the camshaft and kickstarts the altering and the timing between inlet and exhaust. Will give an update on this clip if we get one.
0:20 Chevrolet Avalance. Missing lower shock bolts, sway bar links, broken and bent exhaust, transmission mount loose, coil springs held in with ratchet straps, and a whole lot more.

The customer paid the mechanic to remove all the pine cones, and the smell had gone away. Always a good idea to check your vehicle if it's been sitting for a while.
1:04 This was on a volunteer firefighter's vehicle.
1:11 Datsun Pickup Truck (1978 if they recall correctly).

1:32 2009 Mustang GT500 - 5.4L Supercharged engine.
The mechanic said these engines are really expensive (30k with the supercharger on newer models). He is waiting to hear back from the customer on what they want to do. Will update this if we get more information.
1:48 As mentioned the customer topped up the coolant reservoir with gasoline. The mechanic said the customer told him that they aren't sure how to fill up their vehicle.
1:58 The mechanic said: "Truck was a 2wd by the vin with either a frame swap. Or 4x4 coil buckets and front axle bolted in."
The truck also didn't have a 4WD knob/shifter in the cab.
Why it's important to get a vehicle inspected before purchasing it.
2:11 The technician said this car had a bunch of other issues wrong with it, but for now, the customer just wanted the tail lights to be fixed.
2:22 The customer left the warning sticker on the battery.
2:28 The technician said: "The No Start was the original issue and they could not fix it. They were in the right place when the green connector block was replaced but the problem was in one of the white 2-way connectors."
2:52 No extra info.
3:04 "I was returning home and saw a car with a wrench on its wheel. I signaled to the driver to get his attention and he stopped, but the driver thought that I wanted him to let me pass. Then he signaled to him once again pointing out the window on wheels. And already at the intersection, I saw how this non-spinning wheel flew off into a cyclist passing by. Stopped to help him, but the guy is okay. as it turned out, the driver changed the wheel and was distracted, and then forgot to fix it. The cyclist and the driver of the seven turned out to be neighbors, and since everything is fine with the cyclist, he drove on."

As someone who lives in the UK, I am shocked and confused by the state of these vehicles. Do annual inspections in the USA only cover emissions, and not general safety issues?
Wow! What a jaw-dropping collection of idiots in this episode!
@@bimble7240 It depends on the individual state, some have no mandatory inspection. Even here in France it's only once every two years, friend asked me to check their tyres just this week, classic outside and centre look ok, hidden inner area shredded steel belts. Friend states they recently noticed the traction control light coming on sometimes! I should film it and send it in.
Edit: In the UK at least 30% of the people I dealt with assume an visual MOT inspection was a full service and typically view the suggestion that basic engine service is a good idea with deep suspicion.
The most terrifying aspect of this video is that the person who doesn't even know where to fill the gasoline is also allowed to vote.
And to have kids

@@Odin029 what dumb broad, would allow a guy "like this", in between her legs jump hump'n away at her like that. Women are all about feeeelings, etc, doesn't that make the chick FEEEEEEL some type of way 🤣
Eh...for all we know, a chick owns this vehicle. They love to neglect things, like their children, vehicles, any obligation they got themselves into etc. 😆
It's a car channel comment section, but since you brought that up. I'm gonna share this quote...
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” ― Alexander Fraser Tytler, circa 1787
The fun version would be from Osho.
"Democracy basically means, government by the people, of the people, for the people. But the people are retarded. So let us say government by the retarded, for the retarded, of the retarded. Democracy cannot be the highest possibility man can attain." -Osho
Don't forget those that own Tesla's and try to fill it up with gas.

This channel is unintentionally motivating me to continue buying new vehicles, maintain them, and drive them to high mileage rather than face the risk of getting one of these 60k mile oil change interval cars on the used market.
Good luck with that, engines are consumables on a lot of new cars now 😂 all to reduce costs
Used is fine if first looked at by a competent, professional mechanic. They will identify any issues before purchase so you know what you are getting into.

What always baffled me as a mechanic (who also worked as a service advisor for a while) were the people who did literally nothing to their cars for years, then were shocked when it broke and even more shocked when the repair estimate was high 4-figures or sometimes even 5-figures. You know all that crap you’ve been ignoring for the past several years? It doesn’t go away. The difference is that, instead of doing all those repairs over the course of several years where the expense could be more manageable, now you need to do all of them *right now,* plus fix all the other damage you caused by ignoring it for so long. That is not the fault of the mechanic or your car.

I used to hate having to get my car MOT'd (UK yearly car health check) but now seeing all these cars in such a state makes me glad the UK has MOTs
Also from the UK and I agree. The MOT isn't actually too bad when compared to how strict some European countries are. Scares me how in every video there is some car or truck in America driving around with suspension being held on with rubber bands or worse and not fixing the issue.
@@squeakers27 I'm from America, in a state that doesn't do safety or emissions inspections at all, and I really wish we did at the very least safety inspections.. I just work at a quick lube shop, and even here I see stuff all the time wondering how they even made it here. And most of them seen completely unbothered when I bring it to their attention..
Portugal here. I don't know the specifics of UK MOTs, but I suppose they're similar to our annual vehicle inspections, and when I watch these videos I'm truly glad we have them...
Yep same here. It's a blessing in disguise knowing that the vast majority of vehicles on UK & EU roads are safer fit for purpose because of the annual inspections. The state of some of the vehicles shown in these vids are positively frightening, I wouldn't like to drive them from the inspection bay straight onto a flat bed for transportation to the scrapper let alone driving out & about on the public highway putting the driver, passengers & other road users at unnecessary risk!

I have to wonder how you get a backfire that powerful, and keep driving. I've had loud/expensive/very wrong noises from under the hood of cars I've been in. Stopping immediately was about the only thing on my mind.
The fact that these, and MANY MANY MORE, vehicles like them are out there, right now, driving next to us all, is frightening AF 😳
Glad I'm living in Germany, where a safety inspection is mandatory every 2 years. People may still fuck up their engines by never changing oil, but if their brakes are crap, or suspension broken, or the chassis rusting away, they sure are not allowed to move on the road. If people do anyway, they are facing serious fines.
@@marcfuchs6938 my state only inspects emissions. I've seen some scary cars on the roads here. No windows, no windshield, trunk hood literally bouncing open, doors missing, driving down the road.. its ridiculous 😒
Just the other day I had to help someone add fuel to their car after they ran out (things happen, no hate here). They also said something about a flat tire. I looked down and saw it was flat, as well as having maybe 1/32" of tread and a missing lug nut. When I talked to him about the tread, his response was along the lines of, "I did not know that was that serious." I did not even want to see the condition of the other tires.
@@sletourneau3 Same with my state. I've seen some pretty sketchy cars on the road. At least those ones get pulled over and ticketed. It's the broken and rusted suspension that goes quietly unnoticed until it becomes a deadly problem.
I would suggest that mandatory vehicle inspections are the only solution. The imbeciles who drive these death traps will never change.....
My favourite personal experience is putting LED tail lights on a Hyundai, and the computer didn't detect anything wrong. However, the cruise control randomly turned off. Turns out Hyundai wires the cruise control disable switch in parallel with the brake light circuit, and there's a pull-up resistor on that pin within the cruise control computer. LEDs have a minimum voltage below which they draw zero current, so there would always be voltage on that pin as though I was slightly riding the brakes. The computer doesn't throw a code because some doofus riding the brakes while accelerating indicates a problem with the driver, not with the vehicle.
Putting a 510 ohm resistor across the brake lights works well. There would still be some minimal voltage on the sensing pin, but it's a digital signal, which can only be 0 or 1. A good rule of thumb in CMOS circuits is that less than 30% of the specified voltage is 0, more than 70% of the voltage is a 1, and anything in between is ambiguous and will cause weird issues.

I once had an anxiety attack when I realized I was over 1,200 miles overdue for a scheduled oil change, I can't even grasp how someone could go over 60,000 miles past due without an oil change, not to mention the kind of engine damage there must be after such abuse.
During my chemo treatments, my wife missed an oil change on her car, and went 10,000 miles between changes. Pre synthetic oil. The oil looked good, and the car never had any issues. 60,000 miles, now that is just stupid.
I bought a Craigslist Prius and the first oil change was bad bad, then using Mobil1 every 5k miles cleaned out sludge making the valves louder and bringing glitter with it. I'm sure in a normal car this engine would have never started.
If you use an Amsoil "Bypass" Oil Filter Kit (that is, a kit that adds a second and much denser filter which is a "bypass" type) and you also use with Amsoil's 100% Synthetic Oil, then you _could_ make it to 60,000 without a huge problem.

What I like the most about your channel is it's never boring
Love your channel. Worked in a gas station when I was a teenager, so this brings back some memories.
On the flip side I had the valve covers off my original owner 13 year old engine for the first time recently. Couldn’t believe that it still looked like new inside with zero sludge or discolouration, I guess there’s something to be said for using good quality oil changed at proper intervals after all.
The exploding brake booster reminds me of a Chevy 305 I was working on. Intake manifold had completely blown off the top of the engine.
Guy cycled the key on and off a few times to "prime the pump" because truck had sat a while, and then when it he tried to start it the motor exploded.
Our guess is that it was a leaky spider injector and the manifold pooled up with fuel when he cycled the key.
The lug wrench flailing around and then the tire rolling past was classic comedy!!! Funny as hell.
Watching that wheel just go bouncing past the truck in the last clip got a great laugh out of me. Glad to see the guy wasn't hurt. Especially because of how hard I was laughing.

I'm always impressed how those cars in the US pass safety inspections. Where I live if your brake, suspension or stearing didn't preform at factory standard they literally take off your licence plate and you have to tow the car to shop to fix it, ant tow back and if it passes you can drive it again. You can't even go out if the lights are broken or damaged. And I'm not complaining about it, just suprised that in the biiig great US of A you can go out and drive a rustbucket which probably gona kill somena when something fail on it.
Most states have no inspection requirement.
Automobile registration/inspection is done at the state level here in the US and every state has their own rules. The majority of states don't require annual safety inspections. Mine (New York) does both annual safety and emissions inspections, but even if your car fails to pass the safety inspection they don't stop you from driving it...they replace your inspection sticker with a "failed inspection" sticker and you have 10 days to get your car fixed/reinspected
In all fairness, 99% of shops in the US are legitimate and honest and would never let any of these questionable vehicles pass inspection. But there are many people who are desperate enough that if their vehicle won't pass inspection at the legitimate shop, they'll find the one guy who will sign off on the paperwork and issue the inspection sticker illegally. They unfortunately exist. When they get discovered, they get arrested and their shop shut down, but in the meantime all the vehicles they illegally passed are out on the road for another year.
@@chrisfreemesser5707 They do that here also, but only for minor problems. You can also do test inspections before the real one and there they point out where is your car needed repairs to pass the real inspection. But if your wheels, suspensions, breaks or stearing is damaged at dangerous levels, then you off the road. They do these kind of inspection even on the roads randomly, especially for trucks. (btw this is in Hungary)
@@yuricopperhooves Here in New York inspections are done at regular repair shops authorized by the state, not by a government agency like some other countries use. The safety inspection is fairly cursory, not nearly as involved as something like the MOT test in the UK. Given how bad winters are here and how badly the road salt rusts out cars I'm glad I live in a state that has annual inspections...they DO get many unsafe cars off the roads

Two days later I press the break to turn in a residential neighborhood and the brakes didn't work so I threw it in park thinking it would stop it and hit the curb. The worst thing is that mechanics are not allowed to ground vehicles (and their owners) that are unsafe to operate and for which the owners refuse repairs. It should be mandatory to call the police on such vehicles and owners.
This could be prevented by having mandatory technical inspection every 1-2 years. Some of the cars showed on this channel havent been inspected for decades and still they drive on the road.
I had a shop teacher years ago that told the class when he was still running a shop, sometimes if a vehicle came in and needed brake work and the customer declined, he would tell them they can't leave it's a liability, so someone would call the cops either him or the customer. The cops would come and say to the owner "you're absolutely within your rights to decline the repairs, however as soon as you pull onto a public road (i.e. leaving) I'm stopping you for having an unsafe vehicle after being made aware." They would then approve the repairs 🤷♂️
Edit: If they still didn't want it fixed there, they had to have the vehicle towed to wherever it was going, and the customer was responsible for the cost. Shop teacher would always say there is no cost too much when it comes to safety.
HVAC guys can lock a furnace if its bad. Why can't mechanics?? Its a safety threat too.
That's called extorsion bro, people have the right to fix it themself, seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion and/or accept personal responsibility in the land of the free and the home of the brave drivers.
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS they still do have that right. The deathtrap just has to be towed to the other mechanic for the second opinion since it is unsafe to drive.
Your "personal responsibility" ends when it endangers someone else's life.
So much to love in this episode! That exploded brake booster is incredible. The final clip with the loose wheel and the cyclist is really a "what are the odds" moment.
"You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel...."
This channel is always the best motivator to change your oil regularly!
" more clutches than oil changes", after seeing that oil.. I know how she drives lol
Each new video I'm more and more frightened to be on the road
Man I wouldn't even let my worst enemy drive one of these vehicles. As far as all those new fancy electronics you can have them I will stay with a stripped down model lol.
0:20 "I'll just take it to another shop" Good luck with that.
When I did state inspections for NC when a car failed it was entered into the state inspection computer system and Any other shop they went too would automatically fail until repairs were done and passed. There is NO way to get around the inspection system, that's the entire point...
People not doing oil changes always amaze me
These videos never cease to amaze me.....
That compression fitting on the brake line @1:31...just gold.
Wow what kind of backfire blows apart the brake booster ..
I have never seen that in my life and I thought I'd seen it all...
That last video truly had me laughing out loud. That was pure comedy, Benny Hill style.
Oh my goodness, best one yet!
Thank you for washing our eyes out with beautiful cars at the end of all your videos.❤🚘🚓🚖🚗🚕
I am amazed about how some of these vehicles are still driving despite their conditions
Gives new meaning to the phrase I'm going to drive it into the ground
Or in the case of that last clip, I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off.
lol, imagine putting gas in the coolant reservoir...wtf.....
0:30 The Torx(?) key instead of bolt for the shock absorber was my favourite. 🤣
There is no hope. It keeps getting worse on every video. Although I must say the exploding brake booster caught me by surprise.
I feel bad for how hard I laughed at the dude getting demolished on his bike.
The last couple are hilarious
That key fob got me for a second...ha ha
Filling the coolant resivoir with gasoline is a first. What is wrong with people these days?
Maybe gas is now cheaper than washer fluid 🤣
As Russian tire tennis goes, that was fortunately a pretty soft serve.
Literally the daily dose of internet for cars, this is beautiful. Why’ve I never seen you
Wheel hitting biker was straight out of PAPERBOY!! 🤣🤣🤣 🗞🚲
So many people who should not be allowed to own cars.
Just Rolled In: An instruction manual for my 20 yo daughter as to why she SHOULD 'care less' about checking her car regularly.
these videos made me anxious enough to check a few things. nothing too bad, but some things topped up
@@tsm688 I have a 2011 Ranger Rover that I've put 130,000 miles on so I have always been hot on maintenance. BUT I now check the horsebox, my wife's Jaguar XE and my younger daughter's Mini 1 so none of us appear on here!
Makes me glad I look after my vehicles and have a trusted mechanic to service them.
Enjoyed the video 👍👍
0:21 At least the Avalanche has some high speed rims. The rest is junk, but at least the rims look cool.
Imagine having nearly 300k miles and looking damn near brand new. Also cladding model, ew.
Priorities.
Its amazing to me these people exist
love the 40 series UTE in your outtro!
That video at the end 🤣😂
1:53 thats a whole other level right there. I’ll never understand
My dad's truck hasn't been serviced since he passed away nearly 2 years ago. I haven't used it much, but after watching this channel I'm worried it's just going to be a squishy block of oil.
You say you haven't driven it much. Should be just fine unless your old man never changed his oil.
@@B52Stratofortress1 no lmfao. over time, oil loses its viscosity and ability to lubricate, protect, and clean your engine. that’s why it’s recommended that you change your oil every few thousand miles OR every six months, whichever comes first. motor oil isn’t immune to expiration
@@misseselise3864 Yes, he should change the oil in his dad's old truck. But he was concerned about his engine oil being "a squishy solid block". The old oil is still liquid and doesn't turn into jelly just from sitting for a year or two.
That last clip. That was funny.
Great channel!
Another good video! I hope you and your family are doing well!
Thanks, Darren! Have a great weekend.
