1998 Mitsubishi Evo V - The Best Evo is finally legal!

- Mitsubishi doesn't have much of a presence in the sports car world anymore. The Evo is long gone, and there aren't even rumors of a replacement anywhere in the future. So if we cannot look forward for an Evo, our only option is to look back, and this year, the best looking EVO of all time became legal in the states. But is has been 25 years....is it still any good?

ive had mine here in the states for over a year now, its been a dream! Enjoy!
Sick! What color? Did you convert it to LHD?
Had my GSR for a while inthe US. I LOVE IT. Mines was in a better shape but all i see is a car to enjoy even more by getting it fixed up right.
Nice one. Got also Yellow 5 here in Finland.
New mission, we need to find a way to get them together!
Congrats on the new car! looking forward to following this build.
Also it was nice meeting you at AIR l WATER! (white spyder)
Weston! The pleasure was all mine, it was great chatting cars and beholding the magnificence that is your Spyder!
If ever you are overwhelmed by a desire to be on the channel, I would be honored to do a review of your car, maybe even interview you on your ownership experience? Just throwing it out there, but thank you for supporting the channel either way!
Crazy to see this car LHD, nice channel keep up the good work!
Appreciate it mate! Thanks for watching!
Nice video man, don't see a lot of content on these amazing cars nowadays. I remember being a kid growing up around a lot of muscle cars with V8s, these Evo's had always caught my eye for being a whole different scene.
Appreciate it mate! Even the muscle car scene isn't what it used to be...
Subscribed. Very professionally put together production 🫡
Thanks mate!
Cool project car man - I just bought an evo 5 myself so will be following along
Nice! What color?
Hope your chassis rails r ok. Everything else is easily fixed/corrected as love my V.
I hope they are okay too!
Nice!! Yeah Mitsubishi has fallen from grace. But importing a car and refreshing it is an awesome project. Would love to do something like that myself be time and money….primarily money.
I am in the same boat, this is somewhat of a 'sponsored' project, otherwise, there is no way I would be able to do it!
@@carcaveofficial Awesome!! Makes for great content. I don’t know if you know of Matt Ross, but he’s “refreshed” a 996 Turbo and is now working his way thru a 997 Turbo. I’m all about it. Just a guy in his garage doing a little at a time. Sure, there are products he hawks as sponsorship, but sometimes they are quality sponsors (Rennline, Bimmerfest, etc). Oh, he’s also doing an e92 M3 (hence the Bimmerfest). Definitely check it out if you haven’t already.
I just checked out his channel, makes me want to get a beat-up exotic and try to build it up slowly, yet somehow also makes me not want to...who knows. Maybe when money is in my pocket I can pick up an old Ferrari 360 Modena and slowly make it perfect.
Yeah, I mean cars are really just big, expensive Lego sets and we’re all just big kids, right? And it’s only money so….
Spoken like a person with money lol!
Good video man, Much better than most evo videos on here. I love the evo 5 especially yellow or red ones. I have a evo 6, well a few of them actually, take a look if you're interested. I'll Subscribe now as I'm interested in seeing more of this car. I wonder if the hole in the bonnet vent was for a NOS bleed??? Hello from Australia.
Appreciate support mate! I subscribed to your channel as well!
@@carcaveofficial Thanks a lot! BTW if you need parts for your evo and you can't get them in the US you might find them here in Australia as we have had evo 5 and 6 for a long time now. Will you be converting it back to RHD? comments are good for YT channels :)
That is great advice, thanks mate!
I don't think we will be converting it back, but we will sure be fixing the small details such as the window controls so they correspond to the correct side of the car!
Looks like you're going to have plenty of work on your hands getting the old Evo 5 back in decent condition. Biggest problems are brakes, clutch and steering rack and, of course, under-body corrosion. Looking forward to following your journey.
The under-body corrosion is my biggest worry, but thanks for watching mate!
Did you pay to import it? How much did that cost if so?
The import cost was $3,750.00, and $500.00 to have the car trailered from the port to our doorstep.
