I went & saw it at the Everyman Cinema last year, I enjoyed it, but I agree with what you said, it’s all the stuff we’ve heard before. Such a sad tale for a star that didn’t even get to burn that long
I might be wrong but didn’t Mike Oldfield have a bit of an LSD induced breakdown and recovered?
I’ll add this as well, the guilt they must hold doesn’t equal the success that they had, I’ve always felt roger felt the most guilty about it & tends to pay tribute to Syd a lot & talks about him
Didnt they make sure Barrett got his royalties ? i heard thats why Floyd played Astronomy live in the early 90s .
In the documentary, they said he went bankrupt in the early 80s and had sold his copyright to the record company - though I always thought that Gilmour & co had made provision for him. I'm sure I read that somewhere.
I would like to see this ,someday lol .
It'll probably be released on DVD or on streaming.
I have it recorded on Sky Arts and literally just listened to The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn before watching this, will definitely watch it next week, but I agree that the story is the same depressing tale, and a happier ending and perspective of Syd should have always happened but never did.
Syd's solo albums were both brilliant and sad. One has to wonder what would have been, if he hadn't had mental issues and stayed as Floyd's front man.
Is there any new footage of Syd ?
“New”…nah… 😂😂😂
