When he says "not like them" it hurts, Justin in that moment has reverted back to his 5-year old self who is a scared child, wondering why his family did not come for him, why didn't they rescue/get him back? Why did his family abandon him? Why did you not love me enough to come find me he is screaming at his Mother and Sister.
Yeah. At some point, the little boy who was kidnapped died. There's only Justin "Capshaw" now. And McCoy was right. Even if he were to consider killing Rodrigues justified, the other three murders weren't. This is definitely a case where he should have been sent to jail, despite his mental and emotional state.
Damn, I know Sebastian's a great actor and yet he still surprises me in everything he does.
Such a pity I can't find this whole episode to watch it in my country.

i have to admit with out the metal arm and the long hair i almost didn't recognize him.
So he knew he had a family, he made up that they died in a fire, so is it because he was kidnapped that he thinks that way about his family or did he initially hate his family anyway?
he had been living with his kidnapper twice as long as his real family, so probably the former. stockholm syndrome and all that
His mind made up that his original family died in a fire to explain why they stopped looking for him
Basically Justin felt betrayed by his Family for not coming for him, he did not understand why they did not "come and get him" as he states, after a time his mind became warped that his "Dad" was the only one who cared for him so he convinced himself they died as to why they did not come and get him.
Justin did not want to lose his family again, he did not want to be taken away like he was before so he killed his Dad's boss to keep the family together.

I have to wonder. If the mother tried to reach out to Justin after the verdict was read, how would he have reacted? I think he would have at the very least slapped her hand away. That would have driven home one inescapable truth - she and her daughter can blame Capshaw for kidnapping Justin. And they would be right. But they only have themselves to blame for not doing enough to find Justin years ago. They failed him, and they're going to have to live with that for the rest of their lives.
