Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.
The Official Channel devoted to the brilliance of DI Adrian Monk; the defective San Franciscan detective, whose OCD is both a blessing and a curse. We'll be posting the very best moments from the show so, like Monk, you'll never miss a beat.

Only Monk can tell the captain that he recognized a single pigeon and convince him to get an autopsy done on a dead bird. XD
It’s like recognizes a cloud from earlier. A gift and a course.
Don't forget the time he recognized a person from just their ear
@@ijustwantedtocommentbutnow526 He recognized his wife's transplanted corneas in a random woman on the street too!
He figured out how a guy sent bombs through the mail while he was a in a coma, so he definitely deserved the benefit of the doubt.
Worst part is
The captain knows that, somewhere, somewhere inside his mind, it's telling him "This is detective Monk, he's gonna be right"
So he didn't do the autopsy report just to stop him make shut up about the pigeon, but because he knows he's right about the poison
I think it is interesting that the murderer in this episode is portrayed as a very timid looking man, but is actually one of the coldest killers on the show. Dude was willing to kill not just his wife but eight other random people. Even worse, he knew that he would likely kill quite a few kids in the process as this was right before Halloween.
But it never made sense to me that he chose a specific poison that could be tied back to his lab compared to any other readily available poison or pesticide. The authorities would immediately investigate everyone with access to the poison. Even without a witness, the fact that his wife was a victim would make him the prime subject.
Yeah, that's essentially a TV plot hole that audiences are supposed to ignore. All of the evidence directly pointed to him even before he got caught stealing that poison. But again, it does appear that the writers may have intentionally made him sloppy. Because he got caught red handed with the poison by his boss. He wasn't as good at covering his tracks as he thought he was.
What's really sad as someone tried this in real life once.
Unlike the dumb comment that thinks it's chalked up to bad tv writing when it's not it actually just goes to show how sometimes even the most meticulous planning can be led back to you in a heartbeat because you've overlooked the tiniest detail or didn't n just hoped everyone around you would be confused enough that even if it did they would have to look at everyone who works on that floor and that could take time if it worked out for him he probably would of hinged on not getting caught out of sheer panic and confusion
This is based loosely on the Tylenol murders in the '80's. A wife murdered her husband with Tylenol, but had to kill others to make it look random.
@@RKingis Actually copycat of the Tylenol Murders. They never found the person who did those ones.
One of the only episodes where Monk is laughing and in good spirits, and it's because of someone he loved. Tony Shalhoub played Adrian Monk beautifully. I can't picture anyone else for that role.
I never realized John Turturro could absolutely pass as Tony Shalhoub's brother, but I'm glad someone else did.
6:10 This is one of the saddest scene in monk. Ambrose knew what the poison is and also knew there is no antidote for it, so he just accept his death.
Accepts it very matter-of-factly. Kind of reinforces how little he enjoys his life. 😢
But they got him to leave the house again. 😅
@@harringt100 And they got him to laugh because he _wasn't_ losing his life. Remember that he also gives the kids candy for Hallowe'en every year, which so many people just refuse to do.
He didn’t die
@@b2kzangelalwayz of course. Its because everyone realize the chocolate he ate is not the one with poison. Its actually the one pass the expiration date.
@@b2kzangelalwayz you’re a sharp one.
Having used to live in New York, I was amazed at Monk’s ability to tell one pigeon apart.
Photographic memory...as Monk always says "Its a gift and a curse"
Seriously?? He is Monk, the only one who would do that
Everyone would have remembered the star image Cassiopeia on a dove 😂.
@@dunbarf2413 Yeah. He was able to recognize a man from just his ear. @JJ_R shouldn't feel too bad.
There's a particular day in middle school where he remembered what every student he saw that day wore.
If you're a fan of Smosh, Olivia is the pirate girl in this episode (the one Monk is questioning when trying to figure out why the candy was stolen). Her first credited actress role.
Can't believe someone as OCD'd as Monk said "Frankenstein" and not "Frankenstein's Monster."
Fair point. Maybe he didn't want to confuse the kids?
Maybe he never read the book.
@@themadnessofmadara4883 I've actually not sure if I ever read the book. I have a vague recollection of the full story. I saw the god-awful Kenneth Branagh version. So many great stars in it, and it was still awful. Robert DeNiro never stopped being Robert DeNiro in my mind. And that scene where the Amadeus guy is sitting on the stairs and looks up at the camera and screams "NOOOOOOO!" Um, if you're screaming like that, wouldn't you be DOING something, not just sitting there? Well, just **MY** opinion, I know some people liked it, and that's good.
I read Dracula about 90%, then it was due back at the library...
Even though Monk apparently has OCD about many things, perhaps that isn't one of them? As someone with OCD, we only have certain OCD rituals/anxieties. We aren't obsessive - compulsive about everything. Yes, I can speak for everyone with OCD, I have been an RN for 27 yrs, and I am state certified to teach classes on mental illness and developmental disabilities. Simply calling him Frankenstein is a common mistake. He has a lot of phobias, but aside from needing things neat, I don't see a lot of other OCD symptoms. OCD requires a severe anxiety if x doesn't occur, because some dreaded thing will happen. For example, if I don't turn the stove handle tightly off 7 times, a gas leak will happen. When the ritual is completed, the anxiety is relieved until they must repeat it again. It's more than being "obsessively neat". Those with true OCD regarding germs have been known to wash their hands so many times they bleed, or have poured bleach on themselves. It's anxiety driven, and the higher the anxiety, the more the symptoms come out.
The monster inherits the surname of his creator, Dr Frankenstein so he’s called Frankenstein
It's rare to see Adrian happy and relieved.
That was a good episode, and a great mystery.
When this Monk movie happens, I hope that Ambrose returns.
Exactly. I hope they don't make us wait that long for the movie. John Turturro was great.
The what now?! The Monk WHAT noEXCUSE YOU WHAT?! They are making a movie?!
This was, easily, my favorite episode. No question. Acting was phenomenal, John Turturro is always amazing in everything and they played off each other so well.
1:56 Say what you will about Monk, but when someone he cares about is in danger, he will jump into the fray for them😊
This episode made me cry so many times. Tears of anger, tears of sadness, tears of joy
I like how Monk's brother just said " I have just a stomach ache," from old candy 🍬 .
And the moral of the story is that stomachaches and being poisoned feel about the same
Lol "What you supposed to be? Monk "I am a crossing guard"
2:57 that kid is doing legit karate for reals, and is really good at it
I would also like to be able to pay attention to little things under stress like Monk. In the ambulance, he sees candy bars being packed into a bag and bam, he asks to see the wrapper. And sees that his brother didn't eat the poisoned one. That's just incredibly smart, isn't it?
It's a blessing. And a curse.
@@CZcamsallowedmynametobestolen He sees enough to solve a case and too much to live a normal life.
lol that pigeon flop like pancake on pan
Monk calling kids stupid is awesome
Calling Olivia from Smosh stupid.
The HALLOWEEN Episode is arguably one of the best episodes of the series. Love MONK!
I had a similar murder happen in my town 30 years ago. The guy is still on death row. He poisoned his neighbors Coca-Cola.
I think that case was on Medical Detectives. Love the series
"Hey! Cross after green 🚦 not in between!".-Monk(safety patrol officer)🤣👏🤭 love this show💖
"they're rats with wings" lolololol😂
Tony the best Monk watched I think every episode love it
3:00 "Or maybe he's afraid of pirates."
3:03 "No, that's just stupid."
At least he was honest.
The detective going cross eyed when Monk shoved the dead pigeon through the window towards him 😂
Can't wait for Monk movie
Interesting how in both of Ambrose's appearances they dealt with a guy who either had killed or was planning to murder his wife.
Not that interesting, since that's the case in about one out of three episodes on this show.
Both also involved a specific food item, didn't they?
@@harringt100 And another 1 in 3 are about killing someone to keep an affair secret.
@@huitzil2389and the third is about money
Monk goes to group therapy, best scene
Finally, one of these clips that includes Stottlemeyer confronting Paul with the poisoned bar.
"You want me to do an autopsy on a pigeon?..."
Many don’t know it’s not Frankenstein but Frankenstein’s monster. Lol.
This is one of the best moments in monk
Momk brother only had a stomach ached 😅😂
lmao...just have to pay a 5,000 dollar ambulance bill
As someone who is very close with his brother, I got all the feels when Ambrose and Adrian made up.
I never get tired of these reruns

Nice episode, I like how everything turned out the way it was due to the clues and evidence of the case. Glad they pinpointed out that Paul was the suspect. He was the one that put the poison in the candy to kill the guard. Lol, that scene at the end makes me laugh everytime. The way he thought that his brother was poisoned(Adrian).
Julie's probably wondering why she's hearing laughter in the back of the ambulance.
I wouldn't have been laughing that close to death.
Without this episode I'll never realize that Tony Shaloub and John Turturro looks like a real siblings
The best I have seen in my lifetime....
This was a great show
Stottlemeyers ending was so cold
And then they get the ambulance bill
$3,000
For the record, EMS would treat the ingestion of a poison with activated charcoal, not a "cure".
It may or may not work, but the lack of a "cure" for a poison wouldn't necessarily be a death sentence.
Mr. Monk, he's 11 years old, he's not a real hippy.
boo you missed one who else is hooked years later
I Love him Mr Monk😊😊😅
somebody give us full episodes PLEASE !!
Did Denzel Washington act in this episode? I mean, the medic in last scene looked like him.
No, but a similar look, cute face, eyes.
Ambrose is not a chemist. He's not a scientist of any kind. He writes instruction manuals for kitchen appliances. He has absolutely no reason to even recognize the name of whatever it was that Monk said to him.
But for some reason he not only recognizes the name, he knows what it is and what it does and how it reacts to other things. Because that's just the kind of thing these guys know about.
your life must be bursting with good times and social engagement.
Out of context, I was confused why some kid bashed Ambrose on the head with a pumpkin...
2:25 British accent by the boy.
I feel like even in the real world, Adrian is right that they wouldn’t have tested for any specific poison since the guard got shot and that’s the most reasonable cause of death.😕
Also, it’s Frankenstein’s monster, not Frankenstein.😉😆 Thanks Ambrose.
Ambrose even surpasses Monk with his knowledge. Somehow it is reassuring that Monk is not the only freak 😁.
lead poisoning
@@scenariosinthedark3969 Just as Adrian was based on Sherlock Holmes, Ambrose is based on the latter's older brother Mycroft.
In the Japanese _Fate_ series, Frankenstein's Monster is also referred to as the monster instead of Frankenstein. She's called "Fran" for short.
Fun Fact, the girl in the witch costume is now in Cobra Kai playing Samantha LaRusso.
2:20 😂😂😂
Monk should know the proper term is 'necropsy,' not "autopsy."
Because the pigeon is animal…sure but there shouldn’t be a different term.
Ohyea!!!!! Now I remember xD
That's why it tasted funny! xD
Poor Gilstrap, his Wife must have been The WORST PERSON ON EARTH if hed go That Far
I say Sarcastically
Clove cigarettes would be terrible to help quit smoking, since they have tobacco in them. They are made in Indonesia though, and tasty.
it was a contraband here in Malaysia. since they got taxed almost double, some smuggler running daily shipments from Sumatera to Peninsular Malaysia especially for Kretek Suria brand
He could have pukkedd out the synthetic insecticide
I know that pigeon! He owes me money!!
Weird case thou😂
I wish they would either do a revival of this series or reunion movie of it.
Movie just got announced it'll be streamed on peacock
@@Tacosuprisedelux That is awesome! Thank you for the update.
Maybe he's afraid of pirates .....
No that's stupid !
Olivia was talking nonsense from the get go 😅
Does he look familiar?
No, I want you to do a necropsy on the pigeon.
Here’s what happened a tech man tried to murder his wife but got caught so desperately tried to get the candy back
The real mystery is what kind of chemist would make an insecticide that's deadly to humans in five minutes, with no antidote, at much smaller doses than arsenic?
The company that makes insecticides to sell to farmers who are more interested in making profits than potentially poisoning a lot of people.
DNA from the cigarette thats it
But the guy wasn’t in the system

Hollywood is so vicious in its fearmongering with shows like this one. I'll bet there were tons of parents who watched this & refused to allow trick or treating because of this.
This is something that's existed for decades. There's no documented proof of it actually happening except once where a dude who poisoned his own son tried to use it as a defense. "A stranger did it!"
A bar before sleep
That's bad hygiene
I dispise people who dont like pigeons
Natalie! Every man needs one in his life.
That ambulance ride will be USD 21,283.00.
