- Resistance fighters in Myanmar have been winning battles against the ruling military junta in clashes across the country, leading many to believe that the government could be at risk of collapsing.
But last week the military said it had recaptured Myawaddy town on Myanmar's eastern border with Thailand, sowing doubt over the resistance's gains.

The people of Myanmar proved time and again that they deserve their Freedom. A democratic county, governed by a legitimately elected government. Love and enormous Respect from Bulgaria!
What they need is stability and peace
Even the resistance could lead to the overthrow of the junta, do NOT expect peace, stability or freedom for Myanma people any time soon! Rather any groups subsequently in power in Myanma would behave the same way.. selffish & self serving.
@@roro4787 through a democratic government, legitimately elected by the people
@@DSan-kl2ycThis looks impossible to me but hope I am wrong and you're right.
@@harold8886 Today's rebels are tomorrow's dictators.
I appreciate that you used "resistance fighters" instead of "rebels". Thanks DW.
yeah and they still call Palestinian resistance fighters as terrorists😒
@@YairElChivoyou're saying like Hamas and Palestinian are the same. Do research before commenting like that
I love DW. They're not afraid of having a comments section.
Burma 🇲🇲 Myanmar 🇲🇲. Pray for the peace of this country. Pray for the welfare the city we live in.
resistance fighters is what they are, well done changing it from rebels, even if rebels is not a negative word in itself it sounds more accurate
Support people voice and democracy
Myanmar is literally just cause 2

Please keep reporting.
What a credible, objective expert! Even had to correct the interviewer for not showing proper respect for the vaunted minister!
What can the Western Governments do to finish this civil conflict immediately? No talks of ceasefire are initiated.
The situation is gonna get messy before it gets better 🤨
You know, I’ve seen outrage about the lack of intervention from the West, but looking at the games being played in Ukraine, the Middle East, and the effectively frozen conflict in the Balkans, it’s probably best for Myanmar to find its own freedom without “help”. It’s such a shame that so many people must suffer through violence though :/ I wish that the help came real, sincere, and powerfully
Facts
Because China would intervene and push us out like during the Korean war pal
Same "help" that Haiti gets....this is so rare that it's a revolution that didn't start with any political party or foreign interference or motives, just bottom up. It's the only "conflict" I believe in
@@13ased_American China also had up to 300k+ troops in Vietnam, they just didn't flood the country with troops like they did in North Korea. But sent a huge amount of equipment and troops.
@@13ased_AmericanThe junta only operates on Chinas behalf. They fight for Chinese interest and the only reason the West doesnt intervene is, because the West doesnt want to anger Xi Jinping
Just hope that India gets behind the democratic resistance forces!!
Looks to me like India is turning into an autocracy, so maybe they don't want to support a democracy.
I agree with with doctor Yan h l. She makes a good points.
Who is government?
Common people suffer the most
There was no rule book for this kind of situation. Will they be able to make it happen?
Where they get the money and arm support and delivery?
the same situation occurs in totalitarian countries
UN Special Envoy (Noeleen Heyzer) Report still stands truly to date as:-
1. Public has lost (Complete) Trust in the junta/SAC/National Army; (Envoy's Statement)
2. Junta/SAC is manipulating (with whatsoever means it gets; ("Continuing" commit atrocities, human rights violations etc.) to stay in Power no matter what. (Envoy's Statement) Ref. UN - Mar 2023.
It's a literal rebel alliance. Palpatine should have finished the Death Star before dissolving the Senate.
I wonder where they get their weapons
Ethnic armed groups.
Dollars gangs
Every video I see them with AKs and mortars/rpgs, chinas arms exports are profiting from both sides. I wouldn't be surprised if some are Russian, some higher ups profit from selling missing equipment.
For some context: The Myawaddy is one of the few border trades Town still under control by the Junta. The Junta's Army is putting the Last Major Offensive directly command by the second-in-chief. Using all the prohibited weapons such as Napalm and Chemical weapons doing the unselective area bombing to the civilian areas, military is putting up the fight. The Myawaddy Town have another issue. It's mainly controlled by BGF armed by the Military and which is choosing side recently and still inconclusive . Neither Junta nor Rebel forces have control over Myawaddy .BGF does. If the Myawaddy fall and the Last major Offensive by Military failed. The Junta's collapse will be numbered.
Million of people facing hard life in burma .present junta and series of administration were autocratic regime
It’s like One Piece in real life
Myanmar is like Wano Arc without the straw hats.
@@nyizaw8335 Then who would be the straw hats?
@@philetaranma4918 I dun think good honest and strong people like the straw hats exist here sadly.
The navy people are the closest we got.
Last time I commented how I feel I got in trouble for hate speech so: hiss boo tatmadaw, poke you in the eye!
that's one thing wrongs. they were citizen too... so if a citizen join in the fight... meaning if they die in that fight... it's their choices... and yet no one realize, they will make everything the same. without realizing that. 1:34
Imagine if only Myanmar had a bundle of oil like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or Iran, they might already be 'free' now
they have the worlds gas and heroin trades
Do you think we don't have oil in Myanmar? it's because Myanmar is near China so if US gets into this crisis they will face China which is Military close alliance.
Having a fledgling democracy next to China's autocracy was too volatile. So China aided the junta in overthrowing Myanmar's government.
Since the fighters have channels to receive aid (Myanmar has very long, porous borders), some 'entity' should buy and donate a large cache of Russian weapons.
A 'gift' to the junta and president Xi
If you have no understanding of the situation in Myanmar, don't spread rumors that China supports the military government. The Chinese police have arrested four major warlords belonging to the military government, as well as several important senior officials of the military government. Because they support telecommunications fraud and drugs.
So ur saying china aids the junta while aiding multiple eao?
@@patrickha5474 What is 'eao ?'
ethnics armed organization.
Ethnics of Myanmar on china border side speaks Mandarin/ own ethnics language and they're supported by China.
China's goal for Myanmar is quite simple it just want stability for trade. China's will side with anyone for stability. I'm not sure if democracy will work either. Too many differences and especially hate among each other. Everyone is going for violence and total eradication... No wonder UN do nothing but worried :P
Offcourse with the help of west😊
Will all the different ethnic armies agree to lay down their arms and form a democratic government with the National League for Democracy (NLD)?
NLD is a not a government 😂😂
HLD is just a relatively small armament. Other ethnic armies will not care about HLD. It is obvious that the ethnic armed forces are striving for absolute independence under the recognition of Myanmar's unified sovereignty.
Unfortunately the Syria model is the most likely outcomes for Myanmar.
With so many different ethnic groups possessing their own military forces, the end result will be uglier than Libya.
What about Paris May Day demonstration... ? No coverage.
Of course, don't forget that The Asean countries have been sitting on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs and hoping this will all blow over. Sure Thailand has made some noises about doing something, but when push comes to shove, the votes aren't there.
Rusia and china are close ties with myanmar jaunta and russian military pilot were took part with jaunta militries to assault rebel area of burma
Margareeet , dont forget to flush the toilet
Is it her first time to speak publicly, or what? Eeh, erh, hmm, eeh..
She’s speaking English as a second language.
Taking into consideration she speaks English as a second language, I’m glad she has a wide vocabulary.
wait!!! @ 4:09 this lady mentioning the junta losing its border to China & Thailand? really?? specially Thailand, what kind of talk she's having.

Zweiter hier 😂😂
NUG cannot completely control their own armed organization (PDF); however, they are becoming stronger and stronger, which is a real problem for the Myanmar people. Most armed organizations do not represent the whole population; their minds are based on and represent their ethnic people on the other hand they do whatever they want.; however, they are also a little junta.
The biggest problem for the Myanmar people is the tatmadaw that kills its own people. There can be a future where all the people of Myanmar live together in peace but no while this evil regime is still in power.
Today's rebels are tomorrow's dictators.
No, resistance will not control the town. junta has many allies such as all of BGF, some DKBA some PC and some KNLA. Very complex and saddening for freedom fighters
I Love women that sport that grey hair.
Its part of India 😂
nop
Why you can't find some reporters to talk without havy Indian accent?
India is a neighboring country of Myanmar and DW has most of its reporters there...
Actually, the woman is a Pakistani 😂.She is a Pakistani military asset recruited by DW .
Many Pakistanis often call themselves as turks ,so you can call that a turk Pakistani accent.
Typical Southeast Asian moments...
Those rebels are the cause of the problems...
There are hundreds of coup happened in the past, and no coup has ever bring prosperity. All coups only bring destruction to that country!!
But nothing can stop his greed and desire for total control over the country's vast natural resources!!
Multiple causes and rebellion especially long years of war doesn't make it better.
Today's rebels are tomorrow's dictators.
This depends on whether the military government continues to support telecommunications fraud and drugs.
Resistance fighters cannot win this fight. The Junta has strong backing from China and Russia with their modern drone and jammer technology
Reporter please try to change your accent 🙏
