Living in Self Sovereignty: Ashlee Marie Preston
Self-sovereignty is predicated on one’s ability to make decisions and act upon them in an autonomous, self-directed manner. This fundamental human right allows individuals to exercise control over their own lives, free from external forces or influences.
At its core, self-sovereignty is about having the freedom to choose how we live our lives, as long as we aren’t presenting harm to others in the process. This includes the ability to make sound choices about our health, relationships, career, and personal beliefs. It also means the inalienable right to express ourselves and build community in ways that affirm who we are.
This breakout session invites attendees to explore the nuanced characteristics that shape identity, how they intersect with our personal values, and inform our understanding of what it means to be unapologetically whole-leading to a greater sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction.
Additionally, we will explore strategies for living in self-sovereignty despite discriminatory laws, social norms, and cultural expectations that discourage authentic expression.
