    The speaker itself is always pretty easy. It's the getting there that's slightly more difficult!

    Hello, Can you tell me which wire colors are the + (positive) wires for the trunk speakers? I plan on doing my own wiring and don't want to use an adapter. Thanks

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 6 měsíci

      On my 07 the left rear positive speaker wire is blue(maybe grey) and the right rear the positive wire is orange. It’s possible it may be different from year to year but I’m sure you could find it for your specific gear with a Google search.

    You didn't use the foam baskets or the foam surround like you did on Grandma. Is that not worth it or did you not have them available at the time that you filmed the video.

      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Although the sound quality is improved with the foam (IMO), They did tend to rub on the windows a bit which wasn't a big deal. My wife didn't care either way so I omitted them this go round.

    I ordered 6x9 speakers for rear deck will they fit the internet is say 6x8 but u have bought 6x9 did u have to drill new mounting holes

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 4 měsíci +2

      6x8 will fit the factory hole. 6x9 will require mounting from the bottom side of the rear deck and drilling holes.

    I found a 2009 crown vic with a bad transmission(drive in reverse only) for $900, how much does it usually cost to replace a trans' on any panther?! Also can you add air ride suspension on a crown vic?!

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 7 měsíci

      If you do a quick google search, you can find what transmissions from other CV's will work. You can usually pick them up quite cheap (less than $500). I don't think you can get any transmission rebuilt these days for less than a couple grand.
      As far as adding air ride to a non air ride car, you're best to go aftermarket. More reliable.
      Good luck!

    Hey I’m new to this and I got a question. Are these speakers amplified with an aftermarket amp? There’s an amp for the sub but do the speakers use the same one?
    I’m thinking about getting a grand marquis and I wanna keep the stock radio but I wanna upgrade the speakers & add an amp for them if necessary. Can the amp be for both the speakers and a sub in the future?
    Also do you know of any double dins that match the style of the grand marquis
    Thanks

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 2 měsíci +1

      On my system, I kept the front and rear speakers running on the aftermarket radio only and the sub with its own amp! If you’re keeping the stock radio and upgrading your speakers, you’ll need to amplify the everything most likely. Stock radio’s don’t have much power and will distort the sound. In this case, you’ll need a 4 channel amplifier for the speakers and a mono amplifier for the sub. It’s a lot of extra work to keep the factory radio but it can be done.
      As far as aftermarket radios looking stock, not much out there. They all try and cram too much tech into them nowadays!

      @@OldeCarrGuy Thanks for the response, to run an amp with the stock stock radio, do I need an LOC? I heard that an LOC is often used when keeping the factory radio.

      @@OldeCarrGuy thanks, one more question if you will. I found RetroRadio and I want to use one of their head units. It delivers 25watts rms x4. How much does the head unit in the video deliver? What power speakers should I look for?

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  Před 2 měsíci

      @@m0ntz93625w per channel is pretty much the standard. Anything over 150w speakers is overkill without an amp! If running an amp you could go to 250.
