  • Talon fpv racing drone from kareareadrone. This Talon review drone is pretty exciting stuff, it has some great options for mounting its motors, uses a 4in1 ESC, nice space for the vtx and FPV camera and most of all should be a super fast fpv racing quadcopter because of its aerodynamic shape with the arms that cut through the air. Link - www.kareareadrone.com/
    I know other frames have tried this in the past But the talon pulls the whole thing off very nicely. Could drone designs like this lead to the fastest drones yet?

      hey stew, i think the design is AMAZING...love the pop up 'hood'...few questions with regards to the frame and parts you put in
      1. how easy was it to get all those parts in? and
      2. if someone were to use separate ESCs as opposed to the 4in1, would there be space?
      3. Talon VS Helix VS Chameleon, which would you think handles better??

      Great product, Karearea!
      I am a bit confused, cause you produce and sale the pure frame, but send to stu a ready to fly drone. The point is, that the step of unboxing and build it together are absent, so a closer look at the frame is not possible. Can you send a naked frame to Stu for a review (if he agreed)? :)
      thx

    • @TinyPirate
      @TinyPirate Před 7 lety +4

      s f there's a naked frame review on CZcams if you search for it. The reviewer really liked the very high quality carbon fiber and the clean and neat way the parts fit together.

    • @sf6754
      @sf6754 Před 7 lety +2

      Sure. They are some reviews in web, but i hope you can agree, that the art of reviewing and the point of view are different (from reviewer to reviewer). In my opinion Stu is very talendet in his art of the communication with the community and he also has a good point of view (also dont forget the end quality validation by the lovely grumpy guy :))) ).
      A one good review is much more important for me (to form a opinion about a product), then 100 of useless.

    Hey Stu, thanks for ca great channel. After you first posted this video, I immediately purchased this frame a built it out. Whoa! On the track, this frame is like an old well behaved dog--It does what you ask. As far as durability, the frame can take quite a beating. I ran into a tree. Theweak point in the crash was there motor and its mount. I managed to bend thealuminum and destroy a V1 Tmotor F40. All in all this is my favorite quad and my friends are jealous. After Karearea Drones, all others just seem rather pedestrian. Great review, and up the good work producing great content.

    I have been flying toys for a couple of years and I finally picked up an X220 RTF to get deeper into the quad world and What a difference it is!!! Unlearning the stabilized mode, LEARNING ACRO mode and flying with FPV goggles... I started using FPV FREERIDER to learn before I crash because the power is unreal in comparison! Do you have any POINTERS? Before I tackle FPV without angle mode "stabilized"???
    Cheers and great job being informative and entertaining, it's not an easy task.

    Stu, put in the Split, and put the receiver on the top (since you won't need to mount another HD cam). Also, Karearea offers taller side plates to fit a triple stack.

    Building one of these at the moment and I have to say I'm super impressed with the high quality of this frame. The fit and finish of this frame is exceptional and they have made sure the tolerances of all the parts are super tight. I've seen people crash these things pretty hard and they stand up fine. They have been out in the wild for a while now with some Korean pilots racing them. Karearea Drones have just released 4" & 6" arms fort he frame and have all the spear parts in stock...spear arm sells for $9USD. They are about to release a even lighter version that has the arms made with composite material sandwiched between the carbon, pretty sure this is being designed for drag racing. Can't wait to get this in the air and rip it.

      schelien, I finished this build with T-Motor F60's, Aikon 4in1 esc & Revolt FC. It's a really good frame and flys on rails. It's super tough, only thing I've broken is the vtx mounting hole at the back of the top plate and jus from running a triumph stubby and it taking a direct hit when I hit the ground fully upside down. I now run the triumph out the back of the frame... Hope this answers your question

To buy a Karearea Talon it's Going to cost me close too £180 with shipping and import tax to the UK but for the real 1s from Bangood it's only costing me just under £50 delivered which is a no brainer. Keep the videos going mate theyre the best on you tube and you always seem so happy and positive when reviewing new products. Thanks Mark from Newcastle upon Tyne UK.

      ABMNS PRODUCTION Well it's on the better side than frames like the Diatone Crusader. I mean that's a superb frame don't get me wrong but the camera on that is like naked at the front covered by literally nothing. And that frame still got less criticism about the camera protection.

    I am a new guy and just wanted to toss a concept out there an ask you to shoot it down as you have more experience with builds than anyone else I know of. My thought is that if a quad was built essentially upside down with care taken to place the flight controller at the cg as well as at the prop line thus the center of force using thin profile or maybe vertical motor arms to reduce air flow disruption. You could produce a bottom battery racing quad with the handling feel of the top battery acro setups in cornering. Also the mounting surface for GoPro would be un cluttered. What am I missing?

    It's great to see that more companies are moving towards custom aluminium mounting components (i've been impressed with the Chameleon). Until recently everyone has been so set on only using carbon components with posts and bolts, but right-angle tab/slot carbon connections are difficult to get right and add weak points. The cost of machining bespoke aluminium component designs in bulk must have come down recently.

      yes this is an interesting design. My first thought is the support spars would be very vulnerable to breakage against an object (like a tree or pole). I ordered the Rampage from Skyline Innovations to try out the vertically mounted arms and because I had such a good experience with their Raptor 210 frame. I might put this one on my wish list as well to see how two different vertical arm designs hold up. Nice job again Stu...hurry up with pt. 2!

    since you have so many drones, is there one that is like your all time favorite personal flyer?

  • @JerryBursztyn-PallStar

    I actually think there is a new split on race spec and freestyle design. This little Talon looks excellent for the racing scene and will be part of this new rift between the two styles. I think the heavier flatter designs will still be great for freestyling since aerodynamics aren't as stringent there. The vertical design of the arms, even though might not be significant when looking at it, might actually help push the air down causing a low pressure above the arms, causing a higher lift. This will allow for more angle and higher horizontal thrust. I see this being a wonderful racer. Sorry about getting lightly technical. Aeronautics is an old hobby of mine.

    I always been a big fan of this design my biggest problem with the talon is that it's $115us then an arm an a leg to ship. Other then that it is beautiful just hope they get some distribution in the USA.

    It seems they could make the frame even more aerodynamic by angling the arms into the general direction of the air by how it flies. As the drone sits on the table instead of making the frame vertical, make it at an angle. I'm sure there's a sweet spot in there somewhere of the average angle the drone flies at. Or really even just make the angle at the maximum angle when the drone is at maximum speed forward. So when it's sitting on a table the frame would look a little "warped", but once it's actually flying through the air that angle would come into play and there would be the least amount of drag possible while at that velocity. [thumbs up]But what do I know. I'm just a drunken newbie pilot. :/

    if you're gunna go vert. why have a camera and pod as a standard horizontal plate item? these vert designs aren't maximizing the strength and protection given from a minimal approach to design. looks mad tho :)

    Not sure about the merit of the curved top surface as opposed to a flat top. That just makes mounting a camera harder. Runcam split maybe...but space looks doubtful.

    This frame is really cool and innovative. its great to see people chase the idea of mounting the armplates sideways.
    there is one flaw about that i had never thought about before, if you get sand or mud in the motors you have to remove them from the arms to get to the screw or the C-clip.

    • @RyuIan
      @RyuIan Před 7 lety

      Soliton FPV the aluminium mount on this frame covers the bottom bearing and the c clip so It will be well away from dirts

    • @sigvaldithor
      @sigvaldithor Před 7 lety +5

      yes the bottom of the motor is well protected but i am thinking when dirt gets in the top, then we sometimes need to get to the bottom of the motor to remove the motor bell.
      This is still the coolest frame with sideways arms i have ever seen, cant wait for part 2 of this review.
