      Thanks for your comment.
      US tank had their tool painted in olive drab like the rest of the vehicle, but obviously when used the paint tended to chip. Of course it´s a super useful effect for our models.

    Great job thanks for sharing. If using acrylic for rendering will it have the same effect?

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před 2 měsíci

      I don't recommend you to use acrylics in this way.
      Acrylics dry much quicker and you don't have enough time to blend the colors properly, that's the oil's advantage.

    Great video, enjoyed watching that. Is that a wet pallette you used for the acrylics?

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před měsícem

      Glad you like it! You are right, that is a wet palette. It's super handy when I work with acrylics so I forget about adding fresh paint to the palette.

    Sorry, did you do a coat of varnish between oil rendering and pin wash? Or just after decals? Thanks. Model looks great.

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi there
      I applied a varnish coat just after the decals (satin varnish). That is the only time I usually use varnish.
      If you let the oils to dry for a few hours, you will be able to apply washes without worrying.

    hello, will I get the same effects if I use only three colors when rendering? What three colors do you recommend?

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi, well obviously the effect won't be exactly the same if you render 3 colours instead. But you can still it try using 3 oil colours ( I would take colors with different values, maybe grey/ yellow, green and raw umber).

      @@notjustpanzer one question - what happens between enamel dusting and oil filter I assume there was no varnish applied so what is the drying time to make sure that when we apply thinner for oils we don't wash out the enamel dust?

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před rokem +1

      @@aleksanderbukowski5684 You are right, nothing happens between the two videos. How I applied acrylic barnish after basecoating. There is no need to apply more protective barnish because we are working with oils and enamels

    Do you use a gloss varnish before all of the weathering? Thanks for the video tutorial!

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před rokem +2

      I varnished the entire model with satin varnish just after placing the decals. I prefer satin finish instead of a glossy one, so the model doesn't look like a plastic toy. If interested I leave you the link to the first Sherman video where I show varnishes I used: czcams.com/video/otTkrJjO25c/video.html

    Hi I would like to ask if the wash you use (oil colour+thinner) would damage the original paint coat. Cuz I tried the same technique and the original green coat of colour was a bit damaged by the thinner.
    Is it needed for me to do the oil paint rendering shown in 2:38 first before I apply the wash, or it is required for me to spray a layer of varnish first? Thanks

    • @notjustpanzer
      @notjustpanzer  Před 11 dny

      Oil wash shouldn't damage the base coat, at least if you apply a satin varnish coat before oils.
      Some enamel thinners might be stronger than others, try some brand thinners such as Ak or ammo, they should work.
      You should apply a varnish coat after decals, then oil rendering and oil washes after that.

    One thing you need to do is the first scale foot of the main gun isn't painted. Burnished metal. Very shiny. Its where the main gun recoils and the and the barrel goes back into the hull. Nice job otherwise
