  • To the naked eye, dinking seems very easy and straightforward. 🎉🏓
    As the competition gets better, it gets more and more difficult along with more strategy being involved. 🕹️✅
    It’s crucial to practice and master this skill. Having a 10% miss rate is detrimental against good opponents. That is missing 1 in every 10 dinks. 👋🤬
    The techniques / strategies listed in the video is EVERYTHING you need to get to the highest level. 💯🔥

    Only thing I’d say is that you definitely want to stay closed to the kitchen line but if you are out into a defensive position then you should definitely move off the kitchen line to give yourself more time to react and get back to neutral

  • @NOT_A_TOP_FAN
    @NOT_A_TOP_FAN Před 10 měsíci +5

    Very good info. Just like tennis, it’s a percentage game. Play the high percentage shots at the beginner level before you do higher risk. That deeper, sharper dink (which is the goal) is definitely a harder shot to hit consistently and more often than not, and rec player will try that and leave it too high and the opponent will be all over it. This is one of those shots where you need to drill it over and over before just going to match play and attempting to put it in action…..

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  Před 10 měsíci +1

    Just watched a Pickleball Playbook video on dinking where he spent a good portion of the video talking about the importance of hitting into the front half of the kitchen (from the net halfway back to the kitchen line), especially defensive shots. So I'm confused now with you saying dead dinks (short in the kitchen) are to be avoided. I'm giving you the nod on this one since I've learned a lot from your videos and I'm not as familiar with the other guys stuff.

    Question about the pattern you talk about around 4 minutes in - in the video you have your forehand on the outside and your backhand in the middle. How would that translate if you're dinking crosscourt with someone whose forehand is in the middle? Would you still go after that pattern or would you recommend a different approach?

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Same! It would not change. The middle dink is the shot that people struggle on, forehand or backhand!
