    Salkantay Trek is not for you but you can't decide how to get to Machu Picchu? I have put together a video comparing different ways how to get to Machu Picchu: czcams.com/video/RjY2VUoOxK0/video.html . Also, if you are staying in Cusco for a bit check out my Cusco Travel guide for some good recommendations: czcams.com/video/5dqlldiYH24/video.html and also some of the best day trips from Cusco: czcams.com/video/nsdrp5DxAtM/video.html

    The Incas had a network of roads that went from Colombia to Argentina. Going across different kind of regions. The guys who worked as postmen were called Chaskis . . They run fast during all those kind of roads sending important messages from one point to another . Using "tambos" as a sort of campsite from one point to another

    This Monday 13º will be held the very important soccer match between Peru vs Australia. The country will be almost paralized by this game . . . So make your plans accordingly . . .

    Thanks for your great video with so much useful information. Actually I had a plan to do this trekking exactly the same in June but I just gave it up for the same reason you mentioned -rain and cold. Moreover, I'm also afraid if I can make it because I use to sit in the office and don't take much exercise.

    Loved this, really good story telling! This was very useful informaton before arriving in Peru!
    I am doing the 5 day trek soon and had a question if you dont mind answering !??
    I am also using KB Adventures… I was wondering once the trek is done & you arrive in Aguascalientes, after seeing Machu Picchu…
    Does KB Adventures provide transportation back to cusco ? Or should I plan to set that up myself ?
    Thank you for a great video!

      No, they take care of everything. You will need to get back yourself but they will offer you options and arrange appropriate tickets. 😉

    Hi! This video was really helpful, was there a reason you chose to do the 4 day trek rather than the 5 day one? Do you know what the main difference is or was it just different availability? Thank you :)

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  Před rokem

      Very good question! So one of the main reason why I chose the Salkantay trek was because I wanted to see and visit the Humantay Lake (amazing btw) which you do on the 1st day. Then I wanted to reach the highest point which meant the hardest steepest part of the trek which you do on the 2nd day and day 3 you go through the jungle. Day 4 is basically the same as day 3, nothing major, just extra 25km :D as I am not the fittest hiker I though that I will not miss out too much on the day 4 and also you have limited stuff with you and it was raining and I knew I might not have dry close on day 4 if rain gets as really bad so based on all the above I chose 4 day trek (which is 3 days trekking and forth is the MP day). Hope this helps. :)

    Can you do a video talking about how you prepared physically for this hike, please?

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  Před 2 lety

      I must admit I didn't prepare too much. It has been really hard to keep up with my fitness traveling constantly for 6 months :( 2 things I can say, is that I definitely spent some time in high altitude before. That is very important, so you do not run out of breath when in Salkantay Pass (highest point of the trail). and I did Colca Canyon 2 day trekking and that was hardcore, that was harder than Salkantay, so I would say doing a harder hike before will give you confidence :)

      @@AlikiTravelBlog I've been to Peru before but never did the trekking. Even though I spent some time trying to acclimatise, the altitude sickness hit me bad to where I couldn't even properly enjoy Machu Picchu. Really hoping for a redo. Thanks very much!

    Is it easy to travel with a drone? Could you recommend one?

    • @AlikiTravelBlog
      @AlikiTravelBlog  Před 7 měsíci

      Supereasy...especially in South America! I traveled with DJI mini 2 but they have newer better ones now out. Whichever drone you pick, get the one under 250g, usually most drone restrictions do not apply if the drone is under 250g 😉

      I signed up when I arrived, BUT I still did it a week in advance. Although now after Covid there aren't too many tourists so I think 2-3 days in advance is ok. Just so you get the dates you want. :)
