Thanks for watching! We also really miss Peru now and the food! The food is sooo good! :)
This trek looks incredible!! Really well organised too, and great footage. Look forward to Part 2!👍
Thank you Karan! 😊🙏
Fabulous epic trek like how the tour was organised too🙏🏼 seemed to be very well thought out
Kitti Jon
Thanks for sharing beautiful Peru 🇵🇪
A great Vlog 🤠👍
Regards Simon
Thanks Simon! It was an amazing experience and the company we did it through were excellent 😊👍
Great video thanks for sharing! We’re hiking the 7 day Salkantay/ Inca trail in the fall and we couldn’t be more excited
Thank you 😊 have an amazing time when you go! 👍
This looks spectacular! I myself probably wouldn’t do this hike because I don’t like overnight hiking/camping😅 but I love watching you guys do it🥰 can’t wait for the next part, I’ve just watched all your Peru videos and loved them all.
Awww thank you so much! 🥰 that means a lot really! 🙏😊
Thumbnail is phenomenal my friend. These shots are just stunning!
Thank you that means a lot 😊🙏
Appreciate the stats and other helpful info here. Happy trails
Thank you 😊 happy you found the video useful!
So cool!

Great content guys ! :D
Thank you for watching! 😊🙏
You lucky devils! 🥰😁
We do feel very lucky! 😊 Thanks for watching! 🙏
@@KittiandJon I feel lucky too living in Dorset, but not as lucky as you, who are visiting certain places I can't afford to. 😇
maravillosos paisajes ❤
Gracias!
Wow beautiful video you have inspired me to go here
Thank you 😊 hope you do get to go one day!
So beautiful and amazing. Do you have to book long in advance? We are going to Peru in Jan 2024.
Thank you 😊 with the Salkantay Trek it's not as important to book it far in advance. It doesn't get booked up nearly as quickly as the Inca Trail. But we'd still recommend getting your booking in before you go 😊 have a great time in Peru! 👍
Thank you for putting this video up. Really insightful. I've been looking into the inca trail and recently stumbled upon this and it looks like i might do this one. What were the washroom situations like on the entire trip?
Thank you 😊 it’s definitely a great alternative to the Inca trail! Washrooms were generally good at each of our overnight spots. Nothing fancy just basic but functional 👍
Did this same trek back in 2018. It was def iconic
Hard work but so much fun! 😊
Great video! What time of year did you do the hike?
Thanks! We did it in April 👍
I did this same trek and it was amazing.... I had the best time.. I even considering doing this trek again...
Glad you also had a great time on this trek! 😊 we would definitely want to do the Inca trail if we went back again!🤞
I loved hiking Salkantay!
Us too! 😍
Im sold!
You won’t regret it! 😊
Hermoso 😍
Gracias 😊
Fab video, thanks so much for sharing - considering doing the trek myself so I found this super helpful. I am travelling solo, just wondered if you noticed any other solo travellers in the group or if it seemed more for couples/friends/etc? Subscribing to your channel now and planning to binge watch other videos!
Hi! Thanks for the lovely comment 😊🙏 our group was made up of one other couple and a family of 4 but I think that they probably try to group you up depending on whether you’re travelling solo or as a couple/family. Another group leaving at the same time as us seemed much more like lots of solo travellers grouped together. There were certainly plenty of solo travellers that we met during our time in Peru who had done either the Inca or Salkantay trek 😊
Wow!!! Thank you SOOOO much for sharing! We decided to go for our 10yr anniversary this September!!! Can't wait to book this tour. This was absolutely incredible. 🇵🇪⛰️💯🙏🏼🦙
Thank you! 🙏 aww you guys will have such an incredible time 😊 one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! 😍
Thanks for the nice video! Funny question: where did you buy the yellow rain jacket? 🙈
Thank you! 😊 haha don’t worry you’re not the only one to ask us that question! We think it was from Sports Direct here in the UK 👍
Great video! Scenery looks amazing, how did you find the altitude - did you have any difficulties adjusting? I’m doing this trek with my husband and a bit nervous about altitude sickness!
Thank you 😊 we didn't have too much trouble with the altitude but we were traveling slowly and had already spent about a month at altitude before doing this trek. We'd recommend spending at least a few days at altitude before starting though and you can always hire mules to get you up the pass if you think you'll really struggle after the first day. From the 3rd day onwards though you won't need to worry about the altitude 😊 have a great time!! 👍
Great video! Any showers in the accommodations? Just checkin…
Thanks 🙏 yes the second accommodation with the mountain huts had a hot water shower which was amazing given the location! You had to pay extra to use it but it wasn’t much at all 👍 then there was a shower at the hotel in Aguas Calientes of course 😊
Amazing video. My wife and I are doing the same trek with Salkantay Trekking next month. When did you guys do this ?
Also, could you share what gear you used ?
Thank you 😊 you guys will have such an amazing time they are a fantastic company to do it with! We did it in April but June will also be a great month 👍 we didn't have any special gear really...the company provides sleeping bags and poles for an extra charge so all you really need is a good sturdy pair of hiking boots and then lots of layers because the temperatures do change a lot over the 5 days...its really cold at times and really hot at others. Maybe a head torch is a good idea because you'll need to go to and from the bathroom in the dark sometimes 👍 have an amazing time!!
@@KittiandJon Thank you for the tips.
love the video! I see some tours that do the coffee making class or some that go to the hot springs. Did you have the choice? :). Alsooo, do you know if all tour companies take a similar trek? thanks from Canada!
Hi! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video 😊 the coffee making part of the tour was a surprise to us…we didn’t know we would be doing that! The hot springs are an optional extra on the Salkantay Trek…you have to pay a little more to do it but it’s well worth it! 😊 I think many companies offer the Salkantay Trek now yes! It’s a very popular alternative to the Inca Trail 👍
Great video! My girlfriend and I are doing this trek in November. Did you guys spent additional time at Cuzco? If so, what hotel did you stayed in?
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you 😊 we actually spent close to a month in Cusco so we chose to stay in an Airbnb rather than a hotel. But there’s really no shortage of accommodation options in Cusco! Have an amazing time on the trek! 😊
Hi Kitti and Jon, it is wonderful to watch your videos. Did you go with the tour company or by yourself? How much does it cost?
Hi! Thank you 🙏 we went with a company called Salkantay Trekking and prices for the Salkantay trek itself can range quite a lot depending on who you book with. For our experience with the fancier accommodation you’ll be paying a bit extra of course! 😊
Amazing video! Were you able to take a drone with you for some of the beautiful scenic shots you took?
Thank you! Yes we could take a drone with us on the trek. However we made sure to ask our guide before we flew it anywhere as some places are sacred and they don't like you flying at those spots.
Awesome! Thank you so much! That’s so helpful to know!
Wooow! amazing! in terms of physical condition, how good it has to be to do the tour? Do you have to have a lot of experience? because day 1 you said was pretty flat... I haven´t fished yet though... :) any advice? pls!!
Thank you 😊 we would say you need to have a fairly good level of fitness to do the tour. You’ll be walking around 70km over 5 days at pretty high altitude so it definitely isn’t easy. You don’t need to be experienced to do the tour though. You’ll have an experienced guide with you who will look after you. But yes a reasonable level of fitness is required. Hope that helps 😊
Hello guys. Firstly, this episode really fueled my desire to pack my bags and head to Peru. May i know which month did you do the Salkantay trek? Need to sit and start putting down things 😊
Hi! Thanks that's really nice to hear! 😊 we did the Salkantay Trek in April which is usually just when the dry season is starting in full 👍 have fun with your planning! 😊
@@KittiandJon thank you 😊
Wonderful video! What month did you travel?
Thank you! 😊 we did the trek in April 👍
How did you do with the Altitude? How long did you acclimatise for before the walk?
We actually did fine with the altitude but we spent a week in Arequipa and the Colca Canyon first plus another week in Cusco before we started the Salkantay Trek. So we were definitely acclimatised well! They say you should spend at least a full day or two in Cusco before starting the trek though to get used to the altitude 😊
is there a way to book multiple tours with one company and get a big discount?
No idea! I guess it’s worth asking though 👍
What happened to the view of the stars from the dome?
Seems like a piff piece rather than a real review.
My guess: glass fogs up and the clouds prevent any star gazing.
Yeah the glass does fog up at night but you can see the stars very clearly outside. Our camera equipment can't capture anything in that low light though hence why there's no footage of it. We also weren't doing a review of the domes just vlogging them as part of our trek 👍 thanks for watching!
Did you need a permit for the drone?
No 😊 we just asked the guide with us if it was okay before we got it out as there are certain places along the trek that they don’t like you to fly 👍
where did you go for bathroom while camping?
Each overnight camp had a rudimentary bathroom of some sort so no problems there 👍 lunch stops also have bathrooms.
What time of year you went ?
We went at the end of April 👍
ugyes!
Köszönjük 😊
You went there and still saying the name wrong....nobody explained what exactly Machu Picchu means and how you should pronounce it?
This video is for day 1 and 2 of the Salkantay trek. We didn’t get to and have the tour of Machu Picchu until day 5…so no we hadn’t been given information about what Machu Picchu means or how to pronounce it yet.
