Awesome band - I was lucky to be around them in the 80's and did some rough jam recordings with them after parties - THE most under-estimated band in the world.
It may Bite, but it definitely doesn't Suck! What a brilliant band, whether with Francis Dunnery or John Mitchell in the guitar/voice role. They should have been huge, but we all know how that goes . . .
I'm so sad of discovering these incredible guys just one year ago. I can't stop of listening to their lovely songs, specially the entire album Once Around the World
Society is being engineered to the point of breakdown by whoever really runs this planet and I'm clinging on to the dreamy uplifting music of the It bites to keep me sane x francis dunnery, wow, what a guitar player ♥
Tracklist: Kiss Like Judas - Black December - Plastic Dreamer - The Old Man And The Angel - Hunting The Whale - Yellow Christian - You'll Never Go To Heaven - Midnight - Wanna Shout - Rose Marie - Screaming On The Beaches - Calling All The Heroes - Once Around The World
Still the best live band I have ever seen, absolutely brilliant band. Looking forward to watching the Sensational Francis Dunnery next Friday 20th Jan, in Manchester where he has promised a full set of it bites songs, can't wait!
Saw It Bites on this tour at manchester apollo best drum sound I've ever heard Bob hit the kick and you could feel it in your chest !! "Made in Cumbria"
This is superb. Saw them on the same tour, twice if I recall. Hearing the arrangements as they were back then brings back great memories. Thanks so much for sharing!
saw them similar supporting marillion on a festival on loreley in germany the same year. i was a big marillion fan at that time. but ib blowed me away. up from their first note touched my ear. a true love began. till today...
Still a “go to” listen after all these years- remember being really gutted after the spring tour ‘90 when frank went, although nice resurrection with John Mitchell later…
I was at this show and can remember it being a great gig ( I was 17 at the time!!). Can't believe it was 28 years ago. Saw them a few times live and they were so tight and Frank Dunnery was one of the most gifted guitar players I have ever seen. If ever there was a guy at one with a guitar in his hands then it was him. Would loved to have seen them more times. Thanks for posting this. Has brought back some brilliant memories
Ian Burns if you want to here once around the world live get tickets to the Francis Dunnery shows in the uk this week, he's playing the old it bites stuff full on prog rock with his old squire strat. Manchester Friday 20th Jan 2017. Is going to be immense
Saw them about 1990 Aylesbury civic hall , Eat me St. Louis album .Back then they were my hero’s , I’d just started playing guitar and he blew my mind .Still one of my all time fav bands
Nice one. Seen them at the Town & Country in 1989 on the Saturday night (I think it was a Saturday), I had to be home the next day to play a club gig in West Cumbria, there was a car in front of us (a brown Hillman Avenger) and I was telling my band mates about all the bands I'd seen in London the week before, there was someone waving at us from the Hillman Avenger at a red traffic light - Frank Dunnery poked his head out of the car window to say hello to my drummer Charlie Carruthers, I couldn't believe it.... I shouted back out the window at Frank "Good gig last night mate". - He must have thought I was a stalker. True story, makes me laugh still now (I'm from Carlisle and It Bites are from about 30 miles away from me).
Superb. So underrated- only truly discovered how good they were 2 years ago- and the icing on the cake for me being Hunting The Whale live- which is a first. Thanks for sharing.
After being blown away by Francis Dunnery on a TV program about the Stratocaster I bought the their 'Once around the World' album. A short time after I saw the live at this very concert. The band was amazingly tight and how he plays those riffs while singing still baffles me today. Having been let down by their support act, 'The Swinging Laurels' stepped in last minute. I remember their frontman Gaz saying "calling all the Heroes? - calling the local f***ing heroes more like". I did remind him of this 20 years later but he didn't remember! Thats for uploading this fantastic gig.
old man wow they were so tight. all the vocals used to amaze me ..they were like the carpenters or some shit ...brilliant singers . andy salmon did their great live sound on this tour . midland sound & lighting
a big thank you to all of you who, traded IB live stuff through the fanbase for decades. i know and have a lot if live cuts of this band in my collection, but i think this is one of the best. enjoy listening to this great piece of music. support the band by buying their stuff from legal dealers. thankyou! -petethebeat-
PeteThe Beat- thank you so much for this....Its exceptional. Where can i find the legal dealers? I'm looking for" Welcome to the Wild Country". " Only New York Goin On" or the name of the album is" Fearless". And of course this album. Thank you for your help and putting this out for all the intelligent people who can appreciate true artists!!!!
just found t -I used to tell all my mates how good this band were live after another mate dragged me to a concert-been into them ever since-the reform band under Mitchell were probably just as good
...any interest in other ib live stuff? have a radio broadcast from their 1988 "rock am ring" appearence in germany... bit of work, but if there are folk out there who want's to listen to it, i go prepare that... let me know...
Lots of interest, Pete - thanks for this, it's brilliant. I'd love to hear two gigs I attended during 1988: Brunel University and also the London Astoria. Oh, and also their Robert Plant support slot at the Hammersmith Odeon!
Apparently they get together every year and play a big show in Cumbria that's very popular. There are a number of videos on YT of at least some clips from the show. Just look for the thumbnails where Frank has no hair. :)
Scupples was my first gig back in 86 in wolvo been huge fan ever since ❤
One of the tightest bands I've ever seen brilliant great sound live

"Made in Cumbria"
Oh God. Once again I have to be the "how have I never heard this" guy. But seriously, this is amazing.
Check them. The 80's. Feel welcome to get influenced.
Thanks for posting this. I saw them a few times right around this period. They're the greatest band in the world that no-one has ever heard of.

This is superb. Saw them on the same tour, twice if I recall. Hearing the arrangements as they were back then brings back great memories. Thanks so much for sharing!
Until I stumbled on “equinox” late one night, I sadly wrote them off as a pop one hit wonder. How wrong I was 🙈some of the best gigs I ever saw
I love it bites more than any other of the scores of more known geniuses. Most melodic of all modern bands, every single song Ahhhh!
Greatest band ever. Should have ruled the world. First saw them in 1987 supporting Marillion at the NEC. They blew em off the stage.
saw them similar supporting marillion on a festival on loreley in germany the same year. i was a big marillion fan at that time. but ib blowed me away. up from their first note touched my ear. a true love began. till today...
I was at the same gig, wasn't aware they were supporting until I arrived at the venue. Chuffed as hell when I found out.
Still a “go to” listen after all these years- remember being really gutted after the spring tour ‘90 when frank went, although nice resurrection with John Mitchell later…
Nice to see journeyman bassist and top bloke Lee Pomeroy here.
Great sound to this band. Cheers for that.

Frank quotes Mandy Fly Me by 10CC at the end of Black December.
I read somewhere that Francis is critical of his guitar playing during this time. ( !?! )
It sounds like the made the whale sounds via their instruments. Fantastic. One of my favorite songs "Hunting the Whale"
wow, Sensational Alex Harvey Band's ''Faith Healer' as the intro to Black December!
Awesome band! ...Can just wish for them to reunite for just one tour :-)
