The Kenobi Show has made me worried about aliens in live action, as they stopped putting a lot of effort into their looks. I hope they prove me wrong!
@@that_guy555 if we are talking about the story, I do agree that the story could have definitely taken different turns. But for the representations of aliens, I think those shows did a rather great job as a whole. The only one I can remember that was rather lackluster was Cad Bane, that was when it seemed they started to pull back from the effort put into aliens to save a quick buck. I think we all hoped that was a one time blunder, then Kenobi came out.
They just didnât realize that some of the aliens have already been featured in live action before so they openly stated itâs hard to bring cartoon characters into live action even though they were referring to CAD BANE & THE GRAND INQUISITOR whoâs species have already been featured in live action before!
But Disney hires people who donât know anything about Star Wars!
I 100% agree about aliens in Kenobi. Just look around Tattooine. Far too many humans/near humans. Compare it to the movies where we got a new fantastic looking alien everywhere we looked.
But, to be fair, the raptor-headed alien bounty hunter that shows up later looked really cool.

This character in the acolyte looks fine. The fact you all say sheâs the reason that it looks bad for aliens is because sheâs a female, the wookie was lookin great in the trailer too. So sick of toxic men who canât handle a good female character. This show and its visuals look great

I think the only lightsaber fight that we will see is the one with all the Jedi fighting that one Sith(If it is a Sith) and it will be during the last episode. I saw on another video how Leslie is talking about how they are going to have a saber duel that is going to be on par with the Maul vs Obi&Qui Gon. And I think it's going to be this one.
That is a VERY high bar, given how choppy the fights in prior shows were. Jedi havn't fought like Jedi since Episode 3.
Honestly if they only had one lightsaber fight in this show Iâd give um credit for it because Disney and Lucas films have overused the crap out of them

My first thought when I saw the trailer is that the effects looked so bad I was looking at an amateur fan film. Itâs not just the costumes and makeup. The effects look really bad. Like worse than video game quality. Hopefully they are still tweaking that until release. Trinity as a Jedi sounds amazing on paper but I have no hope for this show or any of the announced films. I am enjoying the animated content though and looking forward to more of that. Crosshair is currently my favourite character.

Some of this video reminded me of the 90s sci-fi show Babylon 5.
Itâs gonna suck, and half way through weâll forget about it.
I like the concept, but my hopes are not high for the series, I really hope they dont use the characters and series just to push an agenda and instead use these character in a way wich fit their in universe roles, I never understood the need for real world agendas in a completely fictional universe not that you cant have a deeper meaning to you characters actions and such that can be translated onto real world things but they shouldnt come at the cost of say characters, writing and all of that
For me, there is multiple reason to this "cheap" aspect.
I find the costumes and sets very pretty for my part (from what I saw anyway). I also like the idea that the High Republic, since it is a more "peaceful" time, is more "clean" even down to the clothes.
But ! I think the main issues are the lights and the global shading of the visuals. (I'm sorry if my terms are not that precise, english isn't my native langage!).
The shots are often very monochrome with overall lighting. Same for the color-grading. There is very little play of other lights or contrast in the images. They are very "readable", giving a very "flat" appearance. Which means that neither the sets nor the costumes are highlighted. This can be seen in the interior shots, in the somewhat darker room (interior set), suddenly, it has a little more style.
Another problem linked to this very flat image is the use of stagecraft. No special or visual effect is better than another. I also think that stagecraft is excellent as a technique in the cinema industry. But there is no "perfect" effect, only techniques that are more relevant in some places than others. Stagecraft has proven itself very cool to use in many scenes from The Mandalorian for example, while at times, nothing replaces constructed sets in other scenes. I find that in the production of their series (and probably to avoid a very big budget) these series sometimes make too much use of stagecraft.
In Andor for example, it is used less, with much more scenery constructed. And the image is clearly less "flat" than the other Star Wars series.
Despite all of this, I'm still very curious of what it will look like ! I will not judge The Acolyte without seeing all the show. Maybe it's better than we see in those promo pictures / trailers. Maybe same or worse. But let's wait a bit in order to judge
It looks...palatable, reminding me of the old 1970s shows of the Water Margin and similar than a Star Wars show.
As most of these Disney Star Wars Shows are, I'd say it's best to keep very low expectations.
Yeah never expect to much from anything specially Disney and WB nowadays they're earlier have so much variety of content but now it feels so same like uncessary characters with no good story

I thought Amandla Stenbergâs character looked really cool, like something out of Knights of the Old Republic. Andor was very different from anything else in Star Wars, but was still excellent. Iâm just keeping my fingers crossed and trying to stay positive.

I saw someone else suggest the wardrobe kinda has the vibe of a lot of extended universe/legends visuals from the 90s. Maybe a passive attempt was being made to make fans of that content feel included? Plus with the time difference, some attempt had to be made to make it look just different enoughâŠwas this the right way to do that, maybe not, but weâll have to wait for the release to truly judge.

Ngl I feel like it's going to be another Force is Female vibe show and the fact that they might be protagonising literal witches is definitely a big red flag in my eyes especially when it's Disney which is very much guilty of dabbling in such stuff.

All in all though, I know thereâs not a whole lot of people who would care for this type of content but Iâd like shows that would look like something from WITHIN Star Wars, like ESPN style podracing shows or something that would make you feel like youâre watching something someone in that universe would watch, with maybe commercials fitting in with the theme

Star wars chose rhe wrong person to bring out a new era of star wars. I have no hope for this series. The writer stated themselves that they have never watched anything star wars. It shows clearly in these trailer images that character designs will not be following what star wars is known for, authenticity. I wont be upset if I miss this series.

This looks like the kind of show that celebrates the people involved and a diversity checklist more than the show's quality or actual goodness. But unlike the Barbie movie they forgot to make it watchable. I mean, if you want a lesser analysis, its Disney, its probably going to be garbage for that fact alone.
