  • Here's a look at Sig's X-Compact grips compared to the normal P320 grip. I wanted to try them out and see if either the medium or small X-Compact grip worked better for me than the original P320 grips. Turns out, not only do the X-Compact grips feel better in hand to me, but I shoot better with them too! Now if only they had one more rail slot...

    Excellent comparison with intense detail. I especially appreciate the comments about the rail being shorter on the p320x grip module. Aesthetics are different too since the p320 slide and barrel are a bit longer than the p320x compact model. Thanks!

    This was an excellent presentation, thanks for taking the time to do this. Just as an FYI, those ‘magazine contact points’ in the grip frame of the X Compact are channels for tungsten weights from Armory Craft... I believe they add about 1.4 oz to the rear of the gun to make it feel more traditionally balanced.

      The Wilson grip is also an improvement over the original one, but I don't shoot quite as well with it as with the x-compact one. It has a wider bottom section and angles my hand more similar to how glock grips do (which aren't very natural for me).

    Excellent Video!! I came upon your video looking for info on magazine compatibility and I left with so much more. Your findings on the fitment with the TLR-1 HL on the X-Compact grip was a game changer in my decision making. Thanks for the info on the work around with the TSW/99 insert. I played around with that insert on the OG grip and, in my personal opinion, found the amount of play between the light insert width and the rail notch spacing to be unacceptable for me. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for saving me $50-60 bucks and a lot of time purchasing the X-Grip.

    First one you touched is the original compact. The carry models, old and new, have a full height grip, with a compact slide, so the magazine size is different. The x-compact is where things shifted with the shorter slide, but compact height grip. Thanks for the video.

    SIG needs to put together a configurator that tells you what options and grip frames fit together.
    Included with that is some wsy to figure out what fits your hand best. Grip vary by size and by height/capacity. Maybe they need to fasten one of each in a ‘try board’ for gun stores.
    It is very frustrating to try to buy stuff off the SIG web site…

    Only annoying thing to me going this route is the barrel and slide over hanging the grip module by .3 inches at the muzzle end. I might buy a full size X Series grip module and just cut/sand it so it's flush with my 3.9 inch slide.

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah that overhang could've been used for an additional rail slot too giving better light compatibility.

  • @gk5891

    Full - 17 Round Flush (Long dust cover for 4.7 barrel & slide)
    Carry - 17 Round Flush (Shorter dust cover for 3.9 barrel & slide)
    Compact - 15 Round Flush
    Subcompact - 12 Round Flush
    They lose cross slots as the dust cover is shortened for the shorter slides.

    How do the subcompact and x-compact grip modules match up? I have a subcompact and am wondering if the x-compact grip module will work with the slide and barrel from the subcompact. Considering they both have a 3.6" barrel

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 3 lety

      The sub-compact grip is about 1/16" shorter than the x-compact grip where the slide sits on the frame. If your sub-compact slide is perfectly flush with the end of the subcompact frame, the x-compact grip could protrude a slight bit, but you could also just file that down.

    Carry and compact arent the same. Carry has a the fullsize magazine (17 rounds) and compact is shorter (15 rounds). The Carry is also the same as the many of the newer fullsize models (though some have an even larger nose with more rails than the Carry style frame.

    Question when u mentioned the xcarry is the same as the xcompact module I thought that was not true. I thought the xcarry module is longer due to the 3.9 inch barrel size. I thought if u install a xcarry lower module it would have more space between the trigger guard and picatinnynrail. The xcompact is 3.6. Can u clarify?

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 3 lety

    What constantly amazes me with younger shooters these days is how picky they are. I grew up during a time where the shooter adapted to the firearm, not the other way around. I don’t know if hands have gotten smaller or what, but older shooters
    (see Hickok45) wrap just about every pistol in layers of Talon grip tape. The other thing is bore axis and felt recoil. I’m wondering how many young people these days shoot revolvers, especially high power like the .357 magnum, where you have an extremely high bore axis and felt recoil. The other thing is ammo. The FBI begged and pleaded for something with more “stopping power” than the 9mm. S&W came out with the .40 caliber. As qualifying scores began to drop because younger cadets, especially females, couldn’t master the recoil, the FBI went back to the 9mm. We have grown extremely soft as a society and this phenomenon is just one of many symptoms. You can’t “customize” your way into becoming a proficient shooter. It takes practice, practice, and more practice. I go to the range weekly to keep my skills honed and at 70, almost always score better than my younger competitors who have spent hundreds or even thousands on customized equipment. This is not a criticism about you specifically, just a general observation and thanks for the video because I was curious about the differences in the various frames.

      What an idiotic comment. Not everyone is built the same and different grip sizes and shapes can make a difference in how well people shoot a particular gun.
