Yes. It’s human nature to think something is being taken from you rather than just given to others. That’s why this is such a hard thing to eradicate. Look at the leadership in Congress. They would rather get in bed with white supremacists and maintain their ‘power’ than stand for democracy. That’s how foul racism is.

I grew up in north and south carolina in the 50s and 60s and can verify what this man says. I still carry a streak of racism that I will sadly never fully eradicate. I carried more than a streak until I practiced medicine for 30 years and in that experience I learned everyone carries the same needs and hopes and dreams. I watch my children who are fortunate to see no divide. I still learn daily and i am optimistic. I agree with Mr King, together we all thrive, divided we all fail.

That was the most honest and important talk I’ve seen yet…….I am a successful Hispanic business owner and one of the most important reasons that I am successful is because I learned how to play the game with white corporate America. As my former employer once said about me “ he looks like us, he speaks like us”……And so I was allowed to play ball. I say this to my white fellow Americans; Get educated on diversity. Racial minorities are not here to supplant you. We want all of the same things that you want. Also, learn another language besides English. That will not make you less of an American, it will make you better understand that as Americans, we are not the center of the universe.

@@lilliankinsman1153 You are speaking from a position of power and privilege and you are either not being truthful to yourself or you are completely blind on how things run in America. The statistics don’t lie. Whites in America control the economy and the rest of us , at least the ones who want to succeed, have to adjust our thinking and our way of doing business to be allowed to participate. There is quite a few who refuse to do so and consequently they go nowhere. BTW, I am not complaining, I’m only stating a fact. That’s the way business is done. Either play by the rules in place or not. It’s up to the individual. Also, there are so many reasons and benefits to learn a second, third or fourth language. If you cannot recognize them then there’s nothing I can say to convince you otherwise. Lastly, your comment regarding holidays is laughable. Almost all holidays in the US are about white culture. And again, I’m good with that. It is what it is. Whites are still and will be for a long time the majority in this country and therefore they control politics and money therefore you have all the power. 'Peeing while black"..A laundromat where I used to go here in New Orleans: Has a locked rest room. You must ask to get the door opened. I walked in, said hi to the owner (an Asian lady who already knew me). I started my wash. When I put my clothes in the dryer, I got into a very interesting chat with a guy, who I'd noticed about a half hour ago, doing HIS wash. We chatted about everything. Very pleasant, very lively. Then he excused himself, and went to ask the woman if he might use the rest room... She went ballistic, "Only customers can use the bathroom!! You are not a customer.." Now, I could have kept my mouth shut but I did not. "This man was here before I walked in. He's in this dryer next to mine!" I said to her. She seemed disappointed she was wrong, made a face and walked away, opening the bathroom for the guy, whose name BTW was Kendrick...As I left later on, he was outside taking a smoke break, and thanked me. I am glad I could help. But... in a just world, incidents like that shouldn't even happen..
