This couple is in a class by themselves, not just Olympic gold athletes but artists on ice. There should be a diamond medal for them. The fusion of balletic moves and choreography with swift gliding movement worked to perfection in their talented hands (and feet). They have gorgeous ballet poses and holds with faultless lines from every direction, but done on blades at dangerous momentum, making them more impressive than earthbound dancers. In addition they are the most expressive skaters, able to communicate every nuance of human feeling with their faces alone and when combined with their superbly trained bodies performing feats of athleticism, they are divine. What a gift to the world of art from a hitherto unexpected direction - arenas.
GOD-Given GIFTS 🎁 IN ACTION! SO BLESSED FOR ALL OF US TO SEEAND ENJOY!!! FANTASTIC JOB!!!!
Magnifique commentaire ! Rien à ajouter
I agree!
They are such gifted artists it can be easy to overlook just what amazing athletes they are.
This is the essence of Torvill and Dean. Their artistry is unmatched. They are to Ice Dancing what Michelangelo was to sculpture. When Michelangelo's "David" was unveiled, it had to have the private body parts covered. The covering was removed many, many years later.
I suspect the G-string was quite shocking when this was made. Perhaps this is why they were never received knighthood from the Queen. In any event, there is no question that Dean's body, in and of itself, is a work of art. The two of them are Beauty In Motion and still Ice Dance today in March, 2022. They transcend time and space and are enduring as well as endearing. Thank you 2ombieboy for posting this splendid video.
I agree.
Not technically g-strings, they’re wearing ballet dance belts, like all male dancers wear.
Truly beautiful, can hardly believe it's on Ice. I feel as though I'm at the ballet ,so graceful.💯👏unique❤❤❤❤❤
That makes sense as the choreography is by Graeme Murphy, great Australian ballet dancer and choreographer.
I remember absolutely loving this as a kid, and five minutes into watching it I can see exactly why. The choreography is just gorgeous. Thank you for posting.
Yes. Loved it. Surprised it seems so lost!
I just recently watched this program and was enthralled by the insightful and magical experience. Jayne and Chris are the best ever ice dancers, along with their amazing choreography and storytelling.
Story ending: O.K. Let's compromise. We'll spend 6 months in Northern Alaska and 6 months in the Bahamas. Extraordinary ballet. In 1986 Torvill and Dean were at the top of their game. In 2022, Dancing On Ice, they still are! Jayne was stunning and the crown or tiara fit The Queen of Ice Dancing. The scant clothing fit the hunk. The red hair, not so much.
After all, Jayne's nickname for him when she first saw him was " the blonde prince."
Red hair for flame
Just BREATHTAKING 🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
I’m so happy you uploaded this! A very long time ago i recorded it on my video but accidently i lost it…. Now i found it again and me and my daughter enjoyed it very much - thank you!
All the pros deserve an enormous💯👏brilliant ❤❤❤❤
Absolutely sublime artistry!
I remember my dad took me to see this show live when I was a kid - must have been late 80s, very early 90s can’t exactly remember. I loved Torvill and Dean so much. I remember thinking their dancing was the most beautiful thing I would ever see in my entire life. :)
To skate like you can't and that you're falling over - seriously difficult! Seriously talented is Chris. G Ire
Superb choreography 💯👏
Powerful 😢
This ballet was choreographed by the brilliant Australian master Graeme Murphy....

Incredible and moving. No wonder they were the best!not sure how far along in their partnership this was but it was flawless!
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skating beautifully to a gorgeous score by the late, great Carl Davis: it doesn't get much better than this.
Just brilliant. Jayne is amazing in this.
Can watch this allll day! Beautiful. Hope they never stop creating n skating.
This is wonderful! Thank you for posting it.
First time I have seen this it was breathtaking and beautiful dancedx
Absolutely stunning
I am sitting here crying for the majestic artistry of your Fire and Ice.
I had chills running throughout my body watching your lovely performance.
Torvill and Dean productions are mesmerizing. Thank you for your Love of Ice 'Dancing'. ❤️❤️👏👏Bravo.
omg this is the most beautiful I ever saw them skate, I am crying right now. Such powerful emotion and beauty in their skating in this. Hell I like it better than that frozen movie everybody was in love with . Maybe I am lost . but seems back in the day the skaters had more emotion and passion into their skating
That was amazing! The entire production was breathtaking 👍
Beautiful ballet on ice.
Best interpretation of Romeo and Juliet yet it’s so elegant yet fragile In a beautiful way
This is amazing and Jayne should be an actress her expressions are on point ♥️
This was choreographed by Graeme Murphy, founder and long term artistic director of the Sydney Dance Company who also choreographed ballets for the Australian Ballet. He had a real knack for combining classic with modern ballet. I think this is as good as anything he's ever done.
I remember they were on the front cover of the Xmas TV Times that year " fire & ice the magic of Torvill & Dean ". And this was shown on Xmas day .
Wow! I loved it as a kid and I was trying to find it for some time (🔥 ❄). Thank you for posting it! It's such a beautiful show!
LOVE IT!!!!
Fascinating truly beautiful xxxx
Все суперррская спектакль "Лёд и Огонь" с Джейной Торвилл и Кристофером Дином. Я смотрела этого ролика кайфа. Очень понравился ваш спектакль, здорово)) Большое спасибо за показа ролика)) Нет слова!
I was OBSESSED with this as a child...I've got it on DVD, but you have to go all the way to the end to watch it. It's got like a documentary or something first.
Where can I obtain a dvd of this
I will have to go and find it,and then let you know =D
Thank you
So sorry to disturb you but were u able to find the vhs or DVD of Fire and Ice ?
@@tailor383 Oh my goodness! I am so sorry! I'm going back home tomorrow, I'll go and look for it!
This is art. It’s like a ballet or opera production. I feel that figure skating today is all about tricks. In the past skaters like John Curry fused it with ballet and in my opinion it had more credibility. Having said that I do think the G string was completely unnecessary.
Re the G string. It was hot as Hades in the Land of Fire (wink) but the costume was part of the art communicating a primitive society. Skaters must have the most toned glutes in the world so it was not unaesthetic. It took some getting used to but no complaints about the creative rather daring decision.
Oh no. It was completely necessary. :)
@@merelaine68 I agree. The bareness of his costume and its red color accent the primal, while her icy frills and crown accent the cultivated. When they find each other, he gains a way to cover his basic instincts, while she thaws her sophistication and distance. Yes, the bareness of his costume is a bit distracting (pleasantly so, in my opinion) but no more so than that of many ballet and modern dance costumes.
Outstanding!
How could they not fall in love?
@HCIKFS1 Yes, I believe so too. I hope they have no regrets when they are old.
@@marys6800 I had that thought too. Its all fine to push aside love when you've got goals and dreams and all these other things going on but one day that all will be over and they will only have memories and thoughts of what could have been. I've always thought they had a very special love too...but a tragic one as well.
They both wanted to suxceed very much , i think that Jane said that at first she was in love with Chris, but got scared. Chris was abandoned by his mother at the age of 6, she just left without even saying goodbuy and on the same day the neigboring woman took her place in the house. That was such a trauma for Chris that he was not able to maintane a relationship with a woman out of fear i think. His closest realtionship is with Jane, because they were not lovers, they were and are best friends and they do love each other very much, but not romanticaly. I think that that makes Chris feel safe and Jane is happily married. Of course, when one sees their increadible connection with each other on ice, one canˋt help wishing that this could be the perfect love. It is.
I am glad to read the other comments. I'm not alone in my dismay at the scanty panty on Mr. Dean. I was relieved when Jayne contributed some extra yardage. I am puzzled why the lack of costume was disturbing. I certainly do not fault his physique. Nor was I stung with an excess of prudery or lust. Is it simply that one does not expect to see that much skin on ice?
Ещё интересно, как совместные фигуристы и балетсмеры))
Sao perfeitos!
Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice.
From what I know of hate I hold with those who fancy fire,
But I had to perish twice, from what I know of greed, ice is nice and would suffice.
apologies to Robert Frost.
That costume is a choice! 🍑
Стринги шокируют.
I prefeer Chris with her blond hairs !!!
Looks like fire had a wedgie.
Hahaha. For sure!
Mm. ,
I happy to see these pair from way back from the eighties
Didn't want to see his derriere.
Didn't want to see any derrieres
Candy B I thought the work was lovely. I don’t mind seeing body parts. Just a wonderfully staged piece. I covered bum in Lycra doesn’t change the emphasis on his bum. All their costumes make me believe his proud and wants us to appreciate his body.
@@marys6800 then why are you watching this??
@@DawnDavidson exactly!!! 👏😂
I think they never married because he's gay.
Married to women twice and has 2 sons. Currently living with long term female partner.
@@cs3742 I know. And I think they're fantastic. However, I don't know one straight male who would be seen with a thong and his ass out in public.
The idea might have come from the choreographer, Graeme Murphy, who was brilliant and gay. I think it was rather unfortunate simply because it's an unnecessary distraction from a magic performance.
Fail.
