it's rare to see this kind of original painting experience on social medias. i really enjoy listening to the problems and trouble that you met and they make your videos unique and realistic.
It's always interesting to see how a drawing / painting can go through so many changes! I thought that 3rd eye was lost forever but you managed to bring it back really well!
Thanks so much! Yeah, I thought that one was a goner for a while too, but they pretty much all came together in the end. :]
the eyes you struggled the most, were the most interesting overall
I remember this video from 6 years ago. I watched on my original account (junk account) and I love that it’s still being recommended to me 6 years later. And I totally still enjoy watching it over and over.
you should do this again but with mouths
something I have found with higher quality or thicker watercolor paper is that on the initial laying down of pigment, the paper tends to soak up alot of color and its hard to build layers. I buy individual sheets of arches watercolor paper, soak them in water in my bathtub, and then hang them up with a clip hanger to drip-dry. it makes the painting process SO much easier, and the paper won't buckle much. hope this helps!!
i think something about the paper soaking up all that water, helps it to be a little less absorbent when painting. not really sure why but it works.
How much gsm is the arches paper
Listening to you is just as fun as watching you paint.
Very serene voice!
And nice eyes by the way. The Gouache did some changes.
I really enjoy listening to you ramble and watching you paint, your voice is really comforting and it's great to listen to when I'm painting too.
Aww, thank you!! That's so reassuring to hear. I'm happy to hear that you're painting along too!
Love love love the way you layer the colors and leave a lot unblended ❤
I’ve only ever painted with primary colours, plus black and white so I literally don’t know what to do with pallets with lots of colours.
I love the style that these are painted in!
Thank you for sharing your process! It's wonderful to see the way the paintings progress! 💙
the third eye is my favorite. it has so many layers
The eyes are so pretty!! I love all the textures and the colors and the way the colors are layered and ugh it's just a gorgeous painting 🌻
I love this! I would put this on my wall. Eyes are so expressive and I am so drawn to that!
I really enjoyed watching this. I like hearing you talk about your experience in painting in detail. It's relaxing to me.
That 3rd eye is my favorite. For me,it has so much depth and life to it. It looks like a person who is "worn"
Wow I'm so enamored with your textures! I've never seen watercolor used like this before!
I'm so glad, that I've found your channel. It's fun to see you paint and listen to you explain and talk about colors and paints. :)
*i love your style so much!* woah, this looks amazing.
This is so beautiful! Thank you for videos like this, keep going ✨
It’s so relaxing watching this video ! It helped me so so much ! Thank you !

Gorgeous work Arlee!
Thanks so much!! :D Thanks for checking out my videos.
These are magical
Gorgeous work!
Loving your sketchbook work!
Your work is amazing!
If I'm being honest, I really, really enjoyed this video. I'm gonna try those gorgeous eyes!!
This is so beautiful
Absolutely stunning! I love your artworks, especially your style ❤️
Thank you so much!
Love it😍😍
Ah I really enjoyed this! Love the style and experimenting like that is just so much fun!!! When there is no pressure behind a drawing, that makes it fun! Keep up the good work I really enjoyed watching you paint these eyes! Plus that is shows that you can create fantastic colors with just three primary colors! Great job! ^^
Your work is so beautiful and I really love it. I wish someday I can be that artist I want to, because at the moment I am just copying other artworks... But I'm trying to create my own art. You inspire me so much. Thanks for your videos and your advices♥️
This perfect! Thank you!
god i freaking love your tin
hey, first time watching your videos and wow, your voice is so comforting, cute and nice to hear, loved and learned so much from this video!!! nice job, you're awesome!
Working with only primary colors is so fun and informative and rewarding. When you challenge yourself to limit your palette like this I think it teaches you so much so quickly that any frustration is worth the knowledge you gain from it.
Someone mentioned on one of my videos that they don’t like the canson Montreal paper, maybe it was you? I recently started using it and haven’t done anything except ink tests so I’m not sure I have an opinion yet.....but I’m wondering more about your experiences with it and why it’s given you’d o much trouble!
Also, I’ve just started experimenting with gouache and my tip for trying to get used to just how the gouache in particular works is to do monochromatic tonal studies just using white and a color. It’s REALLY helped me to focus on just getting the consistency of the paint right on the first try and having the proper feel for how the gouache should work. I’ll probably do a small “everything I’ve figured out so far” vid soon if you’re interested....I’m definitely finding that knowing how to use watercolors is kind of almost detrimental to learning how to use gouache and it’s been a frustrating bit fun struggle. =>.
Wow just discovered your channel ...absolutely loved your works 😍😍😍 subscribed❤
You see, I'm working on eyes in particular, and I'm trying to use primary colors to learn how to mix my own colors. So this video is perfect😊
amazing. thank you for posting this. keep up the good work
Beautiful
Awesome eyes Drawing
Thank you for all of your comments!!
I recently made me a VERY small primary pallet with white for my skin tone and I made it out of a small old glass fuse tin and I used some punch out trays from a pack of gum
Your paper is just soaking it up and spreading it out...it seems like a mix between the paint and paper but the end result is just awesome.
Thank you! Yeah, I think between the light color layers and the weird paper, it just wasn't working too well. I like the final result too. :]
Omg u got krem!!! 😍😍😍😍
this was very interesting to watch
after a year i am here to the place which led me into having much interest in arts 🥺
I find that gouache shifts less if you use less water
so
Dont ever mix water with the white because then it will dry to nothing
Its hard to figure out how much water to add so that it spreads nicely but not so much that it dries a different color, i guess thats part of learning the medium
People say gouache is like opaque watercolor but i think it's more like acrylic, just not plastic, but maybe thats just my approach to it
blank blank that's a really helpful tip. Thank you so much! I will definitely use that when working with the white. :3
WOW
OMG ITS KREM MY BOI OMGG
😍
I am at school too, but I make free time for drawing everyday. Cuz I really want to be more good. I like to do that. 💝💝💝💝 I like also your style. I think is very beautiful.
Andreea Ene that’s amazing!! I always tell myself that I will make free time for art everyday etc but it just doesn’t work out for me so you’re really respected!!
feels like flying thank you. I hope that you will be able to do what you want in future. 💝💝💝
Andreea Ene Aw you’re so sweet
I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes using Sumi brushes for my watercolor... you gotta practice your water control though. The calligraphy brushes do hold a _lot_ of water, and they love lifting pigments. S'why I like painting on cheap paper or printer paper. Good for practice.
I found your channel through WeroNoYume's video where she painted other people's work in her style. I really loved the color palette you used in your original - the orange especially - so I thought I'd come check out a bit more. I'm subscribed now and looking forward to seeing more. :)
Thanks so much for checking out the channel. Wero is so sweet, and I'm so happy I got to see her beautiful rendition of my painting.
Try using a flat brush when using gouache
I bet the paper she used was canson montval Watercolor paper i hate that paper and it does the same thing
what affordable paper would you recommend? I was under the impression that it was a better affordable paper :/ Also, how do you feel about Pentalic 140lb?
Alejandra Rodriguez
for really cheap paper, i recommend strathmore visual journal watercolor. it's reasonably cheap and works great!
Isabel Monet and yes, it is canson watercolor paper.
subscribed 💓
That canson pad is the worst!!! I have the watercolour and mixed media, and unfortunately both have been thrown in the scrap pile, and I now don't use it for any finished work and only use it for sketching and colour testing. Kudos to you for powering thru! You made them look fantastic with how hard you fought!
Darian Kierstead what do you use??
Thanks alot
Hey, do you have any reccomendation for good watercolor sketchbooks?
#3 looks like an autumn leaf
Can you make a video about what you did to the images to get them digitalized and then uploaded to redbubble?
hey Arlee, which brush are you using?
What brush did you use
i think the reason becaue the pigment is not sticking onto the paper is because of the paper itself. i see somethings like it is repelling the water and the pigment with it instead of absorbing the water some amount and placing the constrast of pigment
Was the fourth eye some form of Elly Smallwood photo? Looks like her style
What kind of brush are you using?
Sharon Bear saw in another comment a Chinese calligraphy brush from blue heron arts
What brush are you using..i am looking for a few affordable brushes for myself. I have cheap cheap brushes, im looking to spend a bit more
Faith Pickles it’s a Chinese calligraphy brush from Blue Heron Art! I really love using calligraphy brushes for watercolors :]
You should honestly try the Daler Rowney brushes. They aren't totally expensive but their quality is supreme. They haven't let me down for neither water nor oil nor acrylic. Theyre a tad more pricey than the average supermarket brush.
And if youre british you can find a whole selection of them in hobbycraft
What brushes did you use for the gouache?
I believe they were just some cheap synthetic brushes I got at the supermarket? I'd recommend something synthetic and a bit stiffer than a soft watercolor brush. Acrylic brushes are pretty good!
I'm betting the sketchbook is either Canson Montval or XL. I always have issues with lifting and vibrancy on these cellulose papers of theirs. I struggled every time I used it so I stopped using it and gave both to my granddaughters for card making and will never purchase Canson watercolor paper again.
I always use gouche but Idk why
Which paper is this???
What brushes did you use in this video please
Brenda Kelley Chinese calligraphy brushes from blue heron art
Butiful😄
Can you do a drawing tutorial on eyes?
Aren’t you tired of being AWESOME everyday?!
I want to improve but school leavea me no spare time to practice
🙏😍🌹
the paper give me uncomfortable feelings, it looks hard to blend and didn't absorb water well. but the whole of the process inspired me for not giving up and keep layering until its shape looks gorgeous unexpectedly.
Why always Eyes
the second eye looks like my side profile
es impresionante solo ha de saber uno mix color >:v y yo aki matándome buscando el color carne
Me:"cries in un talented"
I like your videos, but your primaries are wrong. CYMK pallet makes so much more sense.
I can hear the dryness or wetness in your mouth cause you're close to the microphone please make that stop happening
i will be honest, i did not like a single eye from this video, i feel like you could have done 100 times better
I bet the paper she used was canson montval Watercolor paper i hate that paper and it does the same thing
