E36 M3 - Dinan Throttle Body, Intake and Euro Headlight Install

  • We did all of this stuff together, so the Dinan throttle body went in along with the cold air intake. We had to do some modifcations and omit the metal bracket to get the Euro Headlights to fit, but we finally got it to fit and it's all dialed in. Keep in mind, these are for the AL Euro headlights, which have quite a smaller housing than the ZKW or other similar euro headlight variants. Bosch and AL have the smallest housings so it made our install a little smoother than the others. I recommend getting your Euro headlights from seller "Tainik", he had these in stock and ready to go!

Matt there is no way you are ok with this, I’ve watched this entire series and this setup and install has gone against your stated objective. Yes i know its your car you do what you want and you should, but I just cant believe you of all people are ok with the hack of a setup and install. A run down to pep boys for a smaller filter or leaving the filter out while you wait on one that fits would have allowed a seamless install. Also cutting your wheel liners right in front of the air intake filter is not a good idea. Water will find its why up there eventually.

The fitment work is why it’s been in my storage for 3 years. I came here to see if OG has the answers since owning an E36 now. Unfortunately wasn’t what I wanted to find.

A simple strap bracket would have done fine. I am not familiar with that intake but it seems like moving the filter a tad lower (further away from the carbon pipe) would have solved the problem. A silicone coupler and a straight piece of hell carbon pipe if you really wanted would do the trick. Now having said all that hindsight is 20/20 and it's easy to play keyboard mechanic when you're not actually doing the work.

How to wreck a mint M3 just l to fit an overpriced pointless modification. Filter even looks battered…… No doubt we are all idiots who don’t know what we are talking about …

@@ObsessedGarage for normal peoples this is not wrecking.. but for Obsessed Garage standards to which we are accustomed this is WRECKING.. because we know how precise you are and how well you work on your cars .. we know that.. if this was some ordinary youtube channel of some random guy .. this wouldn't be weird .. in that situation that work will be normal..but since it's Matt's car .. then it's weird.. cutting headlight, cutting fender liner.. removing bracket.. let me give you a comparison Matt.. if a football player of 1M worth for a year, misses a penalty .. it's not strange .. but if a MESSI of 100M worth misses a penalty .. then it will be very strange for everyone :) in this case you are Messi.

@@ObsessedGarage The point is Matt would rip anybody apart if he saw them doing this kind of mod to their car, yet it is acceptable when he does it. Don’t get me wrong I like the channel and content but practice what you preach and accept everybody has different opinions and they are not necessarily wrong because it isn’t the Matt way😉 But seriously get rid of that battered air filter with its gimmicky “carbon’ pipe.

Especially when not swapping an M50 manifold on. The Dinan throttle body is a joke. I have one and there is no way it provides any gains. The only thing different is the best Dinan on the butterfly and maybe a millimeter larger diameter.
I have the Dinan intake and had the same issues. Basically a piece of shit if you have euro lights. I nearly the intake tube and just did a short CAI to avoid the bullshit down there in the bumper.

@@stashtrey1 this is a classic example of just throwing money at the car with unlimited funds vs scrutinizing every update and investment in a logical series of steps towards the goal. Very haphazard should be small steps and further analysis before moving onto next step. All signs point to car being sold in 6 months. Civic 2.0. Tiring to watch.

Like I've said before when you first got this car. You're a "Show & Shine" guy. This isn't your lane. This car should've gone to one the real e36 heads out here, not you. Why in the world would you pay someone else to do a simple intake job? You're killing me with the comedy. . . The first thing to set this car apart from the other channels currently working on their e36's is ordering a Eurosport Twin Screw and NOT bolting some silly plastic intake pipe. We've seen/done this ourselves 213 times already, sheesh' . Then while the charger was getting shipped you need to drop the engine/tranny to really get it clean. Dropping the engine obviously will make replacing old brittle parts and installing the supercharger much easier. Why ice clean (or whatever that was called) parts that your going to replace anyway, smh. Don't be "That Guy" well too late you're "That Guy", haha!!!

Daniel, I’m a long long long time E36M fan. Also, a long long time OG fan. That said, I was one of the first to pick up the original ES TS that Josh and Mike produced, back in the day. Mike at TRM did the upgrade tune from the original Jim Conforti Shark tune that shipped with the kit. I later upgraded That 1.6l kit to what I believe to be the first and last 2.1l Kenne Bell Eurosport Twin screw kit that was ever made. It’s a masterpiece, currently in my garage on my 95M3. My point is Josh and Mike are no longer producing those gems. Now that my E36 credentials have been established, I have total confidence that Matt will work this out. I’ve been watching him for a while.
