Completely accidentally by the writers given how often they keep going back to the idea the Mirrorverse is actually a danger, but I love that "A Mirror Darkly" basically amps the Terran Empire by giving them huge tech boosts (TWICE), but it just means the Mirrorverse is constantly the slow kid falling behind the Primeverse again and again. Even in weapons tech, as seen by the DS9 Defiant plans being used to make a scrounged ship with a rookie crew still being able to solo a Mirror Alliance fleet.

Not all cultures have the same relationship with historical artifacts as Western culture. The Japanese famously believe in restoring them to their original appearance (check out the 1000 year old Japanese sword). Some don't value them at all compared to replicas, which would be very easy to create in-universe.
A bit off topic but honestly, I'm with the Japanese on this one. I truly don't care for all the accumulated gunk and rot most European and American collectors seem to love. What's more ridiculous is that they think anyone who doesn't love it is "defiling" the historicity of the artifact. They want you to believe that all that gunk and rot and faded paint is the one real way to appreciate an artist's craft despite the artifact not looking in any way whatsoever like what the artist intended.

Random thought; *How did the Mirror Universe Andorians feel when they first heard about Humanity?*
.... another species was invading and conquering their long-term rivals/foes the Vulcans?
    "They could be our Allies."
Perhaps that's how the early Terran Empire survived, they had Imperial Andorian help in fighting the Vulcans.
Only after the Vulcans were defeated did Terrans turn on the Andorians, and they realised far too late that Humans were the real threat.
Because even with the tech from a reverse engineered Vulcan scout ship, and a lead up time if they kept that secret from the rest of the Vulcans ("we lost a scout ship on a long range mission, logically it must have been destroyed with all hands"), post WW3 Earth would have been no match for the Vulcans, who were a serious power at the time.

Perhaps your dates for the fall of the Empire in the late 2200s (2285 etc) are based on long established Beta Canon, but this Alpha Canon seems to suggest a much later date for the fall of the Terran Empire.

I assumed Dr Cho added it here as part of the Progenitor team's "lessons".

And how the layouts of the two brigades are on main Enterprise and the Mirror Enterprise look slightly different the captains chairs are set at different heights even so slightly different. There should be another parallel dimension where Starfleet is *pragmatic* but not *xenophobic.*
And things are much better there in that Universe.
They have more advanced tech since when they find something useful they run straight back to Starfleet Engineering HQ with it.
They keep up a very strong military fleet... but one thats not used for Conquest but peacekeeping. And it's effective at that, it's a bad place to be a bad guy.
So Starfleet is not caught off guard (repeatedly) by a peace dividend.
And no fracking anti-cloaking treaty terms.
The Prime Directive would also be *Pragmatic.* No watching while a pre warp species becomes extinct, there's a clause "To prevent extinction, the Prime Directive can be ignored."
And there's a a specialist fleet of giant transport ships with cryogenic/stasis facilities to relocate if necessary.
Every pre warp species has a dedicated cloaked defence and observation ship/fleet to protect its planet, and operatives monitor and sometimes secretly guide its society away from nasty ideologies and cataclysmic tech once it's getting to 20th century Earth equivalent. Preparing the way for first contact to be as peaceful as possible. That would increase the Federations members.
Most importantly, genetic engineering of Humans isn't outlawed after the Eugenics Wars, it's just that modifying Humans to make them _more aggressive and dominating_ is realised to be a very bad idea.
Instead a Human species that even the Vulcans admire.
It would make a good one off crossing episode, but the *Pragmatic* Humans couldn't be the same cast (with muscle suits) as the population would be completely different, not another you.
    A actual utopia.
To make the Prime Universe Starfleet crew feel inferior.

They can't make up their minds and, imo, they've realised the redesign was overdone and a bit excessive (this is NOT to say the design overall is absolutely terrible). The Disco starfleet in general was just badly designed, though we wont speak about the klingon ships and aesthetic, and trying to claim, "its all the same timeline," just seems disingenuous.
