- Take a tour alongside Fr. Ambrose, Fr. Hugh, and Enzo Selvaggi of some of St Michael's Abbey's stunning sacred art.
Art's ability to unite and engage the heart and mind helps us enter in a deeper way into the mysteries of our Faith. In this new video, Fr. Hugh joins Enzo Selvaggi (the Artistic Director during the construction of the abbey church) to explore the Paschal Mystery through three pieces of sacred art: the altar, the cross, and the triumphal arch.

I hope you‘ll continue with these videos. I’m an ex-muslim and I decided to follow Jesus. There are people out there, just like me, that really need some sort of guidance. Thanks for your work and God bless you! ❤️🔥
My brother in Christ,
We will pray for you 😇🙏
@@raphaelrico1584 Thank you! God bless! 🙏
May you have a wonderful and blessed Holy Week. May your experience during this sacred time draw you closer to the Lord’s presence in the Eucharist.
Thank you Lord Jesus Christ. Have a blessed life my brother.
Welcome my brother. God Bless you and your family
Our son Alec Williams is a new postulant at the Abbey. As his mother, my heart is full of joy that he's there but also aches because I miss him so much. Learning more about the Catholic faith through these eloquently devised videos, it gives me even a greater appreciation for his decision to join the Norbertine's and unites our hearts, even though he is not with us. Thank you and God continue to care for and bless all of you!
May your son flourish in his vocation to Christ. Bless you and your family.
This kind of beauty just leaves me speechless. To start with, there is something with the Norbertine Fathers that really draw me to pray. Maybe it is the white vestment, I don't knpw. But everytime I see the Norbertines, they draw me to prayer.
Thank you Fathers.
Thank you fathers for that beautiful Church...we lay people need to see, smell, hears what is Sacred! There is so much aglyness in the world that we thirst for Beauty❤ 🇵🇪 . Viva Cristo Rey!
The harmony of East & West is especially beautiful.
Amen - stop separating (no need to Prove your way is the one and only way), being negative and realize that we are all humans - one together. Whatever style of worship brings us closer to GOD and is positive good.💫
I’ve had the blessing & pleasure of meeting the man in the suit in this video. It warms my heart to see him. He was incredibly kind to my son & I.
If you happen to read this kind sir, please know that you have never left my heart & you are always in my prayers. I will never forget how you went out of your way to deliver to my son, the signed book.
Thanks be to God that our Lord God & His Catholic Faith makes us love each other so naturally & so deeply.
😊
Praying for Norbertine friars community in the Philippines for asia pacific.
Some of the most beautiful iconography and sacred art I have ever seen
Amazing!
God Bless His Anointed Priest, thank you Norbertine Fathers of California.
The harvest is plenteous .The labourers are few. O Lord of the harvest, send eager labourers into your harvest.
Amen.
Fantastic! Looking forward to my next visit to St. Michael's to contemplate the art and let this all sink in!
Thank you so very much for offering this. I live in Colorado and cannot see it in person. It is so wonderful to see a US abbey church that honors the centuries-old architecture and art traditions that are so easy to find in Europe! God bless all of you for your devotion to these concepts.
VIVA CRISTO REY ❤🇵🇪
We need a monastery here in middle-TN! 🥰🙏
We need at least a couple of y’all here! Teaching our boys! 🥰🥰🥰
Loved the "fulness by intentionality" moment.
An excellent theology lesson in iconography
Thank youso, so much for the video clip. Viva Cristo Rey. Thank God for all of those who made the project come to life. God bless abundantly all of those who donated to the built this beautiful Catholic Church. Greetings to all from The District Of Columbia.
Simply Beautiful
Keep making these great videos. The presentation and information given is very intriguing
Stunning and beautiful church. I am very thankful to be able to visit from time to time and my family is enriched with every visit. Thank you for these videos. As a Catholic artist I am familiar and I love Romanesque art. I did have one question. Why the choice of Romanesque iconography and architecture over say something like Spanish Colonial (simplified baroque) which taps into our Catholic roots in this area?
¡Viva Cristo Rey! ❤️🔥Thank you for videos and information like this!
going to southern california for disney trip but I am most looking forward to visiting the abby. I've told everyone I am making that pitstop. I can't contain my excitement!
Absolutely well done. Continue your videos
Beautiful
I'm thankful to God that you've maintained the traditional Latin Mass. Where's the Abbey located?
This is sooo beautiful true Traditional Catholics. Do they offer the Traditional Latin Mass?
I love the chant in the background. What is it and where can I purchase it?
Beautiful 🕊️⛪️
@4:22 i would like to comment on the following:
1st of all, it's a Beautiful Holy Crucifix! i wish i could have one at my home! But how?
1st: i do highly suggest that if you could 3D scanned it so that you could reproduce the exact quality as many times to distribute to the world.
2nd: 3D scanned it asap, so that whatever happens to the Holy Crucifix - satanic attack or any elemental damage, we could still reproduce it!
3rd: i also notice one thing lacking: look intently at the Crucifix, if you notice His Most Blessed Body is so clean, like he didn't suffer at all - i saw some crucifix that was all covered in blood and has a lot of terrible scars and wounds exactly what was in the Holy Shroud of Turin, if we see a Crucifix like that we could meditate more on His Holy Passion.
I notice a significant drop on the quality of Sacred Art these days, if i go to any Catholic shop, i am honestly disappointed on the quality that is being sold, are we going backwards? despite of our advancement in technology and diversity and complexity of materials that we can produce right now? we should be doing it better, way better - for the love of GOD.
Agree. Crucifix is divine if it looks realistic.
To see this abbey in person - it is absolutely awe inspiring and beautiful
Why not celebrate Ad Orientem if the church is facing east?
This is a very beautiful church/ Abby. It must be so great to get to worship there. ❤
Wow!
Great ❤❤
Beautiful! A beauty the speaks about God.✨
Cosmic
❤
Is that the golden tree of life with the blue background? reminds me of the tree of life in the hypogeum of Malta
Out of curiosity why doesn't St Michaels celebrate mass Ad orientiem normally?
Is the mass celebrated ad orientum in TLM?
5:45 "12th or 13th century, so before any rupture of note in the church". So the split into East and West in 1054 wasn't a "rupture"?
@@CatholicDefender-bp7my Catholic,
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exod 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
.
If you don't keep the commandments, you will not be able to eat of the tree of life: Revelation 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Better Francis not getting to learn about this God’s work!
Why is the Archangel Saint Michael depicted as holding the scales in one hand and a sword in the other hand? Is he a "Libra"? No? Is there a "connection" between the cosmological 12 star signs of thee Zodiac and the 12 apostles? No? No connection at all?
My deepest apologies for the inconvenience. 🙏🙏
This gives tech bro meets catholicism energy
There is no sacrifice if there is no tabernacle Tabernacle are where the God is
Hmmmm🧐
The Crucifix has a wrong inscription. It should be "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum" (INRI). This is what is in Sacred Scriptures.
It’s true that this is what is literally written but it’s an artistic choice to write a similarly true statement. The King of the Jews is the Lord of Glory. With art you don’t need everything to be literally accurate exactly how it was in the beginning. Movie actors don’t look exactly like their historical characters for example.
too much wealthy
With all the talk of fasting in your other videos, how is it that you have corpulent brothers in the monastery?
Your hurtful remark shows how little you know.
WHY NO BLOOD ON CRUCIFIX BODY...THIS IS UNBIBLICAL...
Bowing down to statues is unbiblical too.
@@earlysdaWorshipping statues is unbiblical.
@@calebnwafor2549caleb, you said the same thing I did.
Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
@@earlysda Bowing is not the same as worship.
There is blood on the hands & knees of the corpus (body displayed on the crucifix). Not as much as other depictions but it's there
