Exorcist,Thomistic theologian/philosopher and personal friend, Fr Chad Ripperger, sits down for an interview with the me to answer some interesting questions about Gregorian Chant!
(Note: To anyone who may be "offended" that I forgot 1 question: Father Ripperger is a personal friend, and prior to recording I explained to him the many problems I was experiencing that day and, of course, none of this bothered or offended him in the least. I DID have a formal list of questions which I sent him ahead of time (which he read from), but many extenuating circumstances caused me to forget one. So, because of the many issues and the effect they had on me, I forgot one question.)

After this interview, I came upon this article by Fr Z who shows how the famous quote of St Augustine "those who sing well pray twice" is not an exact quote of St Augustine but a kind of summation of what he says in his Exposition of Ps 72:1. You can read about it here: wdtprs.com/2006/06/who-sings-...

Fr. Ripperger commented that recently exorcisms are taking much longer to take effect. Sadly, we learned that the Vatican revised the books used for exorcism, using less Latin. Exorcist Fr. Vince Lampert spoke at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, IN and spoke about it.

@@Nalisox76 I saw your question and wasn't sure whether you were also asking about 'what' is the Rosary itself, or specifically, 'the Gregorian Chant Rosary'? (assuming you may not be Catholic etc???). Anyway, the Rosary is an old; and type of meditative prayer popularly used by Catholics. It consists of 'mysteries' or parts, that focus on key elements of the life of Jesus Christ's life. By meditative, there are particular prayers that are repeatedly said, which has the benefit of being recited anywhere, by anyone with relative ease, and the simplicity enables one to reflect on the given mystery better I think . Despite the apparent repetitiveness of prayers, each time strangely one can say it, it can offer a completely new experience, giving new insights, as if one takes a spiritual journey of a sort. Many families, with young children can also easily use it because it is simple enough, yet profoundly very deep, when reflecting on a given part e.g. like the Crucifixion which might cause a person to think of their sins; what Christ did for them; how they might live their lives better yet, thus asking God for this help etc. Anyway, I'll attach a link to a popular Wikipedia page that might explain things more fully as to the prayers. Additionally, this old and favoured Catholic prayer is put into a Gregorian Chant form, (Latin, and sung) which gives it a whole new quality spiritually I think. Admittedly, I am more used to praying the Rosary with my family in English lang., candles lit/lights diminished, and which provides a period of peace in my home. The Gregorian Chant (Rosary) 'sung', I would imagine for many is used to also play in their home's etc., background, being both prayer, and meditative. Sorry for long explanation which probably wasn't very good anyway, but here you might have some better understanding of things. I will attach another link of the Gregorian Chant Rosary as well so you can hear it. God Bless! czcams.com/video/p_shhU_H5Z0/video.html en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosary

Hi sarah, plead the precious blood of jesus on you everyday and imagine yourself under the cross of Jesus for a while and receiving his holy blood on your head and on your all body from is wounds, just as if you where taking a shower for several serious minutes, do this every day until you get results, nothing is more powerful than that, don't stop until you get results and keep on.. Pray the rosary or the chaplet everyday, the rosary is better, call then our lady of the precious blood or of the mount carmel, fast ,even slightly twice a week or more offering to the Lord those fasts for your deliverance, take very very often the communion and drink the blood of jesus, try to get holy water and spread it in your room( or when attacked) go and find a good exorcist for exorcisms, knowing that he won't do all, you must do your work too. Repent, repent, confess all your sins and even the small ones very often, repent. Read the bible. Pray. Go and see the videos of ed citronelli (or ed citronneli) he will pray for you in the videos, it helps. Go to the videos of sid roth, isn it's supernatural and look for Dr francis myles, restraining orders from the court of heaven, or dangerous prayers from the court of heaven, those prayers are very powerful, if you can go to amazon where you can buy the books of the prayers.and most of all, forgive always everybody always, and.. Don't sin no more!! (otherwise they would come back) you might think it's difficult but the deliverance is at this price. If you do so Jesus will deliver you. I love Georgian chants, I sang these in my parochial school from 1952 to 1960. I went to Latin Mass 6 days a week and also sang in the choir for funerals and special Masses for Holy Days. The chants were something I really enjoyed doing, it made me feel so good, it was relaxing and comforting. The children I went to school with were good children obedient and kind, bad behavior really didn’t happen like today’s children do. I have a 9 year old granddaughter who went to public school for Kindergarten, 1st grade and part of 2nd grade and she complained at how bad and noisy the children were, she couldn’t ever hear the teacher. Kids today commit acts of violence and sexual aggression. They say things like praise the devil and denying God. We have a very sick society compared to the way it used to be. As to S. Benedict medal I have swallowed a blessed medal and have found peace in my body and soul. I have put blessed medals all over the house doors and windows, car, purse, around the 4 corners of the property, pc, mobile phone, around my neck and sleep with a blessed St. Benedict cross in my hand. My blessed St. Benedict rosary was always breaking until I repaired it myself never again it broke.
I refuse to give in to any demon and will protect my family the best way I can.
When my mother passed away, I sowed a blessed St. Benedict to her garments and a silver rosary was put in her hands.

After the disastrous events of this last year, I was terribly depressed for many reasons. I love my family, and yet many have fallen away from Christ and hold opinions and views (and support them both personally and politically) that are heretical and downright anti-God. Then I found several Gregorian Chant videos...one in particular, the chanting of the Nicene Creed, that just made me cry with both sorrow and happiness! They are so beautiful and calming, and I know they drove away the evil spirits trying to strip hope from me. Praying with music can definitely be a beautiful and uplifting experience....and yet there is something about Gregorian Chant that is just 'mystical' in nature. I highly recommend it.

I was having horrible Satanic driven nightmares until I started playing Gregorian chant or the rosary in Latin all night long the demons left and then if I noticed when don’t do it I get the bad dreams again.
I also added Saint Benedict crosses on my wall images of our lady and so on.
Two different priest came through blessed the entire house room by room with holy water prayers I think those prayers may have had exorcism rites in them as well of course they did it in Latin.
So now my bedroom feels holy like a chapel every single wall and surface has got something that the demons would hate to be around. I have holy water right next to me on the nightstand and when it was really bad I would put the holy water on my ears my eyes my forehead.
I’m a devout Catholic convert coming on 10 years now from Protestantism read my way into the church over a period of 40 years. Bible college and seminary grad on the path home to Rome.
Additionally another great exorcism is confession the sacrament of reconciliation. That in itself was not enough to drive the demons out of my room at night just putting that out there for anybody who’s diabolically oppressed that’s the first profound thing that you can do.

Thank for sharing this interview, Fathers. It was very insightful. I am from Trinidad and Tobago and I studied Theology at Barry University (Adrian Dominicans) in Miami. Although I work in the environmental field, there is much correlation as evidenced in Pope Francis' 'Laudato Sí'. I have been fascinated by Gregorian Chants since my teens and I usually fall asleep, each night, while they are playing. Now I understand why I am drawn to them. I believe the demons try to attack some of us more than others, not because we are weak but because our devotions irritate them. I have had a few battles but the Rosary, Archangel Michael, Saint Josemaría Escrivá of Opus Dei, and the Gegorian Chants (the power of which I only now know) have been my weapons. I will also get St Benedict medals. Thank you so much. I will definitely share this interview with friends and encourage them to subscribe to your CZcams channel.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I was obsessed with heavy metal. The louder and more intense the sound the better. I would search for the loudest most intense sounds. One night. The same night I made fun of the Catholic Church to my wife’s online Bible study friends I put my headphones on. I watched the song of Bernadette free on CZcams. Just cause I remember watching it as a kid and was carious. I remember wishing it was real. Didn’t believe it to be though. After I watched it I scrolled and clicked on something called Gregorian chant rosary. I was in a trans. Almost in tears. It was the sound I’ve bee searching for. The next morning: well here is my whole testimony::
    My Testimony!!
If you heard what I heard, saw what I saw, and felt what I felt, you would never look at this world the same again. A bit over a year ago I was the biggest anti-religious non believer there was. God loving people got on my nerves, and science and logic was my truth. If I saw a religious movie on tv. I said turn it quick. I don’t want to watch this fake stuff. Put Spider-Man on. There is nothing you can say against God that I haven’t said. Very, very, very, very wrong I was.
A while back, I stopped teaching martial arts. I went in a deep depression, and Just was done with life. Seriously thinking about living another day, or imagining another 50 years sounded like torture. 50 years still kind of does, but in a better way.
A week before this happened I was bashing the Catholic Church to my wife’s Bible study online friends when they asked me about it. The week after this happened I was overly sensitive defending it. Because it’s Awesome!!!
Anyways, Heather had another Bible study, and for some reason a movie my cousin Alvaro introduced my family to over 30 years ago came to mind. The Song of Bernadette. I watched it on CZcams, while my wife was doing her Bible study. I remember wishing it was real, but had no faith in it being real. I’ve actually been to Lourdes France on a month long backpacking trip over ten years ago. I always wanted to go Lourdes ever since I first saw the movie and it’s an amazing place. I drank the water from the spring, and It tasted like a sweet fruit juice. I remember I drank so much of it and couldn’t get enough. That next morning after I watched the movie this happened:
I was Big time done living. Completely ready to Check out. I took my dog for a walk. I was at a park. I had that movie in my mind. As I walked near a small dirt path, I looked to the sky and thought how much longer do I have to live. Why can’t I be with you. My mouth was closed the whole time. I said all this in my mind. I then said. “I want to be with God.“ Instantly!!!! Something, not of this world lit my heart on fire. I could feel these hands holding my heart and these individual fingers pressing against it and moving to different areas, and pressing quickly all around. Water was constantly pouring, and pouring out of my eyes like an overflowing glass. They weren’t tears. A fluttering of waves was swirling all around my heart. Water was shooting out of my heart like an insanely high pressure fire hose. Like a freaking Care Bear stare. The water rushing out me was flowing into another place. This went on for about 45 seconds to a minute. I was walking my dog the whole time. I then felt these hands on each side of my heart and it felt like it was being hugged. My whole body felt Absolute bliss. I was hearing sounds from another place. Not of this world. That night my bedroom was lit with a glowing blue light. Where the light was coming from I do not know. Another part to this event but the more I say, the more crazy it sounds.
All my hate, resentment, depression, gone. I used to be obsessed with heavy metal but can’t stand it anymore. It hurts my ears and sounds like finger nails running down a chalk board. I used to have a pretty wicked mouth😬. My ears hear a high pitch ring at any curse word. No joke. I’m not that same person I was anymore. When I think of my past, it’s like it was someone else’s.
Even at this very moment my heart is lit up. The intensity is like a cold fire. Like when you take a cold shower and it’s so cold it almost feels like it’s burning, but this is pure bliss. Peace is more than just a word it’s an energy of its own.
I cut this story short and left a ton out, but All that I saw, what I heard, and what I felt most people don’t believe. Nonetheless, I guess I was pretty stubborn too, and I guess it’s not until it happens to you, will you believe. People usually start walking away, change subject or tell me what happened is just for me. I think it because the reality people live feels too safe to change. We Humans are stubborn. Stuck in our ways. Heather was worried I was going to become a priest. Although, If this happened to me 20 years ago, I would be a priest in a heart beat.
About a month ago I was looking through the gospel of John and stumbled across this.
“If “”ANYONE”” thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.” My jaw dropped. This is what happened that day. God doesn’t mess around. God bless!!!
Demons do exist. That is what I left out. I have seen them. I was physically attacked by o e seven years before this happened. Slowly I lost my faith. The demons hands were as real as yours. The blue light felt like an army was protecting me and this demon walking shadow like human form was in the corner. I felt so safe for the first time in my life. Seven years ago I witnessed someone get hit by a car. I didn’t know what to do so I got on a knee and prayed with my hand over his head. I said Hail Mary’s, our father’s, and glory be prayers over and over. I felt ashamed I didn’t know any prayers. Every time after that I tried to learn the rosary. Every night I tried. That night I would get haunted. Every time was worse. The most horrific demonic screams. Things thrown across the room. The final night I felt a very physically strong demon climb and crawl on top of me. Then it grabbed my heart as if the physics of my body ment nothing. My whole body felt this harsh jolt. After that night I said, I’m never praying the rosary again. As time went by I was convinced it must have been a made up thing in my head. I would go to bead at 3 or 4 in the morning cause I had this fear and if I waited that long it was easier to sleep. Anyways God loves you and God bless!!!

Fantastic interview. We tend to underestimate the important impact that sound has on the soul, for better or for worse. Harmonious, beautiful music is like nutritious food for the soul. Most modern "music" is like junk food... it causes damage/disorder in the soul.

I just came across your channel and I don't really know much about Gregorian Chants, however, I've been listening to them (specifically Pascha Nostrum) recently to help me with my anxiety. Listening to it on loop helps me calm down, focus on my work, and sleep. Now after watching this vid, i have a deeper appreciation. Thanks!

"Singing well" depends on interior devotion, not just the musical ability.

  • @aadamy
    @aadamy Před 3 lety +10

    Singing helps us pray together.
Singing helps us to pray with our whole being and not just in our minds.
Singing reminds us that God used his voice to create the world.
Singing helps us to memorize prayers.
Singing helps us to be like children.
Singing prayers will attract children to memorize prayers they may not understand yet but enjoy anyway.
Singing negates the character of what we are saying. It is primal in this way. We may not be able to think about every single word we are saying but understand the tone. This keeps us present with God.
I love Gregorian chant ! I love singing. It's prayer in action!
