Uncut interview with JAY BUCHANAN (RIVAL SONS)

The pandemic resulted in not one, but two new studio albums for Rival Sons. Four months after the release of “Darkfighter,” the Americans present its twin, “Lightbringer,” released on CD in Brazil through the Wikimetal/Oporto da Música partnership. Despite their names, one album does not contrast with the other. “I would say it’s a conclusion (...). One offers context to the other,” says Buchanan. In this interview, the vocalist and lyricist of Rival Sons reveals the inspiration behind the songs he considers the main ones of the pair; recalls the band’s two visits to Brazil; and subtly criticizes new artists who limit themselves to imitating past idols: “The world doesn’t need another Led Zeppelin.” Ouch!
