  • The new volcanic eruption in Iceland seen from drone. See the volcano backside, how the new volcano cone is being formed from the accumulation of dopping lava pieces. This footage had been filmed in the afternoon of August 10th in Meradalir valley, Reykjanes peninsula, Iceland. Drone used: DJI Air 2S. Resolution: 4K. Recording speed: 30 frames per second. This is the 3rd drone flight (in its entirety) I made during the trip no. 3. All drone flights of mine from 2022 eruption - • New Volcanic Eruption ...
    "On 3 August 2022, after weeks of unrest on the Reykjanes Peninsula including over 10,000 recorded earthquakes from 30 July to 3 August with two quakes measuring over 5.0 Mw, another eruption began at Fagradalsfjall. A live stream from a camera at the site showed magma spewing from a narrow fissure vent. On 4 August the Icelandic Meteorological Office estimated it 360 meters in length. Over 1,830 people visited the volcano on the first day. It erupted over a lava flow from the 2021 eruption. The Icelandic Meteorological Office advised people not to go near Fagradalsfjall due to the new eruption." - Wikipedia

    Somehow I doubt I'm the only one that finds these shifting cascades of orange hot liquid earth absolutely mesmerizing. Who could see this and say anything but "Wow!" and stare! Many many thanks for sharing this natural wonder with us :)

    When you look at the force and heat of this eruption then see other volcanic cones in the background, it makes you wonder just how powerful those eruptions must have been and for how long they must have been going whenever it was they erupted, to have become so large. This is a mere baby in comparison.

    I live in CA (USA)- the images of orange fountains in the sky might trigger a bias to be seen as the fire of destruction caused by wildfires. But this is also Creation -
    The land is being pulled apart to make way for new land. A graben forms creating space for the lava to flow in filling in the space.
    The beauty of the orange fountains reminds me of the colored fountains at the Belagio, in Las Vegas Nevada, where fountains of water shoot skyward choreographed to music.
    The brown - gray landscape contrasts with the vibrant colors of creation as the lava flows; changing to black, white grey, and even a touch of sulfurous yellow.
    As the elevation of the drone changes, so does our perspective. The view at ground level is very different than the view from above.
    The people standing on the hillside are also viewing from different perspectives, they hear the sounds of energy released.
    Do you see the fire and brimstone of Hell?
    Or the miracle of Creation taking place before your eyes?

    I like what I can only describe as a fireplace or semicone, an interesting compromise between the earlier completely open vents and a spatter cone. It will be interesting to see how it develops. All last year's vents rapidly produced conventional cones.

    Question - the lava really looks like it's flowing from the main cone to the smaller one at the north - but then isn't going anywhere? Possible it's flowing back down? Or a hidden lava tube right there?

    I really enjoy your composition, with the drone shots. I wonder if it is possible to 'lock' onto a spot and then strafe slowly sideways, while staying pointed at the same spot. Like a big orbit would be sweet. You could even set it up so you start the shot with the volcano out of sight beyond the ridge, then a few seconds in, the great reveal. Then a three minute orbit, ending with the volcano disappearing behind the ridge. I'm grateful that you're there, doing this beautiful work. Thank you.

    Where is this eruption located in comparison to last year's eruption?
    I did see as you panned around that it looks lower in the valley and also I think I saw steam coming from the old lava field as if the heat was just under the surface.

  • @rogerhankins9991
    @rogerhankins9991 Před rokem

    Looks like lava is flowing from the main vents around and down into the small northern vent. Maybe a venturi effect from the high velocity lava at the main vent?

  • @helmuthschultes9243
    @helmuthschultes9243 Před rokem

    Still trying to positively identify the position relation to the previous lava flows from last years volcano.
    I believe that it is across the valley, where the lava rushed into this valley down from the big lava flows in latter period of last eruption. Visible as dark regions on the far slope behind t he current shooting lava seen during early part of this drone video.
    Nice would be some clear view or map details of old and new lava deposits and areas.
    I think there is still lots of volume to fill in this valley before any lava may exit to other regions. Though with profanity there may be some extension to the crust cracks leafing to the current lava fountain curtain effects.
