@Enough the mpg included the full throttle 0-60 tests. So it's probably in the same 21-23 highway range. But it also has more torque at 1600rpms than the Ford 7.3 has a 4000! And the hybrid goes even higher. V8s are dead. Not long and diesels are dead too. The turbo gas hybrid will out pull them, get better mpg, and cost far less to maintain. (I own an f250 Diesel BTW). I'm impressed by both the F-150 powerboost and the tundra. The tundra may replace my f250. It's a better work truck than an F-150.(much bigger running gear, transmission, axles, etc). And I don't daily driver my truck I just use it to tow and haul. F150 is probably the better commuter car. But both are pretty impressive. The Ford power inverter system is really compelling too! But I don't think the rest of the truck is up to the work load I need.

Andre- Great videos, love the channel content all the time- one suggestion! As many times as you guys do MPG tests , most manufactures do make a place to hang the gas cap on the fuel doors. This protects the paint from scratches and potential dings from the cap bouncing against the sides of your vehicles- especially your new Tundra on first fill up😎

Because the Ford 3.5 TT is a maniacal beast of an engine! That the Tundra isn't spinning the rears off the line when they floor it tells me Toyota is limiting torque in the lower gears, this is easier on the transmission and will help with longevity. Ford learned that one the hard way, they do the same to a degree, but I'll still break the rears loose.

My 08 4WD averages 16 MPG. I live up a 400 ft. hill in 1 mile that, for short trips, really skews the MPG. I bought my neighbors 02 Prius a while back for a 'short trip' car (gave it to the daughter and now it's long gone) and I really liked how when I went down the hill I didn't lose all that energy to brake heat. I can get 18 to 19 MPG with my truck on the highway. I don't really need a new truck but if the MPG of the 22 Tundra blew my socks off I would probably get one. So far these numbers just aren't doing it for me. And the hybrid doesn't look like its designed for improving MPG as much as improving towing.

v6tt are not really significant gas savers over v8 in my experience with the 3.5L ecoboost, don't know about the 2.7. It is more powerful than a naturally aspirated v8, and if you drive conservatively, you will get maybe 1 mpg combined over a v8 and 1-2 mpg less when towing.
Toyota could lower the rear axle to 3.73 and add the 10speed to the current 5.7 v8 and get decent mpg, like 17 or 18 combined like the Titan. They have a few other v8s, like the 4.6, 5.0, 4.7L that they could put in other configurations, like a doublecab 8ft bed as an SR trim work truck and sell way more. Goodness they need to hire better market researchers!

I’d bet the new engines are lighter weight than the old 5.7. 1000% way way way better mileage in the most common use of near empty Tundra.. Yes the turbo engines burn fuel like crazy towing heavy and fast. But for 1/2 ton trucks thats like .0009% of the buyers in most cases.
I didn’t buy Toyota in 2019 first time in 27yrs because Toyota was just too freaking ancient and straight up horrendous on mileage at a premium price.
