Ugh, I don't use magnets. They're potentially harmful to any magnetically stored info such as credit/debit cards or drives ; they can produce electric pulses when moving past metals, risky to sensitive electronics, and thumb drives ; they can impair near field communications, one stuck to my car key - suddenly the ignition won't turn(!) ; messes up compasses, including your phone's ; magnetic fields can propagate in unexpected ways via metals, even non-ferrous metals which *_will_* generate electrolysis in even quite remote places _(especially with vehicles)_ - meaning odd things will quickly rust/oxidize.. Ofc one might sneer and say, "Well, keep your magnets away from those things then silly!" I do. By not using them. ‡ Too bad they're so cool.. 😥 _‡ (disclaimer : except where essential to functioning, such as integral motors, transformers etc.. I'm not dead LoL)_

I've actually had magnets in regular contact with my usb sticks for the past 5 years (same pocket) and nothing happened, yet they were relatively strong for their size. Your phone is full of magnets, yet people have put them on their dashboard or wherever in their cars and nothing goes wrong.
I wish you sold the kit 3 ways. - As an upgrade to the Genesis - As a kit that includes the Genesis and Echelon picks - As a kit that you show in the last few second of the video. As someone that is starting from zero CI picks, it would make is easier to purchase the full set.
The idea between the Genesis and Echelon sets seems to be to support a learning curve. The beefier picks allow you to learn basic techniques with little risk. The Echelon set expands the range of techniques and locks available to you. I'm actually ok with that.

Would you consider adding an option of the echelon set that includes the genesis set as addon? Would effectively save the buyer (and nature) a now superfluous bag. From the looks of the store page having it as a selection in the drop down menu should fit in nicely.
It sounds as if you're blaming a company for a problem that's caused by your government. Government is the reason we can't have nice things, but that's more true in some countries than others.
Had the echelon set bought for me as an early holidays present and it was my first lock picking set and its been very fun! ive opened a handful of locks so far and just have generally really enjoyed learning how to use them! i will absolutely be grabbing the genesis set sometime soon for sure to finish off the set!

Hey LPL, can you do a video on polishing/cleaning up picks to help with keyway feel? I know it seems pretty intuitive, but I've talked to a lot of beginners who don't quite understand and a visual representation I could show them would be awesome.
Just got my Genesis set, see-through padlock, and practice lock in the mail today. Never picked a lock in my life. Picked the padlock with the hook and the wave rake both, was soooo excited! Can't wait to start learning on the practice lock.
The titanium bogata picks are nice too. Tiny and lightweight. The back of the picks are turning tools so you can rake with one and turn with the other or single pin it

Yes! If you go to auto zone or a similar store, the trash cans out front are full of old blades. I grabbed a handful and have enough parts to make a lifetime worth of tools
@@stoffel6348banding steels from pallets make a good slim jim, I used to fairly regularly lock my self out of my 95 Dodge Ram by accidentally knocking the lock button, on the door sill, down getting out. I finally had it and took a hacksaw and cut the top of it off! No problems in 23 years now. 😂
@@mybrainisshortcakeIt was actually an RV door I needed to open, so I could get into my shop and get my picks to break into my house because someone locked my front entry door lock and didn’t realize I don’t use it’s lock and don’t have a key on my keychain. Really bad design for a Schlage entry lock where it can be locked and still opened and remains locked. I only use the deadbolt but am an automotive mechanic and often enough have to unlock cars so I am glad I have tools or wiper blades! 😂
Just got this set. LOVE it. Wish the ergo TOK tensioners were 1-1.5" longer, and it would probably be perfect. It jumped to the very top of my EDC kits.
I got mine, and I was hoping that he would show a better way to present it with everything, and he did. I combined all my picks and such just as he did, with minor changes. Gotta say, I do like it and it was worth the purchase.
I've only 'picked' one lock before... I used a screwdriver and a tiny allen key... worked for what I needed it to work for, and no damage to the lock in question... that being said, my coworker that locked the company cabinet and took the key home with them to keep people out of the companies tools, was slightly miffed that someone got in. I of course did it with the bosses permission.
As a locksmith I use these picks over all. The quality of the picks got me hooked, all other brands are all about throw away tools just like the resent lock industry. I just bought another genius set so I can keep one in the van and one in the tool bag. I wish I knew you where coming out with this new one, it would helps with the over loaded picks I put it the genius case

i use my Genesis set a lot at work, customers will bolt on tool boxes i have to remove to fix the issue and never leave the keys for it or they change out the key switch to some after market one and i will have to pick it so i can test the repair

i just got echelon yesterday! FYI - Echelon doesn't come with the CI Credit Card latch slipper. It comes with a blank RFID writable credential card. I agree latch slip, ergo combs, or Commercial double hook would have been better to me.

Been watching for 5 years, just bought the see through lock ser, immediately went back and bought the learn lock picking set. High quality shit and I can't wait to be good enough that I can open locks in seconds. For now it takes me hours to figure out a lock lol
I put something calming on the TV and just sit down and fiddle, trying to teach my muscle-memory pin spacing and how the tension feels. I tend to "overset" and have to restart, so a not-challenging bitting can take me a minute or 10 min. But it is good practice time
Only comment is going back to Bosnian Bill's EDC emergency pick set for preppers. That collection would be nice. A locked door during an active shooter or fire emergency would be bad. Love the case as it looks similar to Sparrow Tuxedo
Just an observation from a few tubular locks I have had a play with ... the lock is set back in a surround and the tension tool doesn't fit. I had to use a bent piece of piano wire to engage in the slot but that isn't always present.
I wish these had been available when I was buying tools for the hobby. I've got a nothing fancy set of Peterson picks that is a nice step up from the Southord set I started with. But I'd rather just have gotten this set and been done with it.
I would have liked to see you fold it up twice at the end, so I can be sure it wasn’t a fluke.

Just keep in mind what LPL said a thinner pick is weaker. As long as you dont force anything it should be good.

This kit including a dimple rake and a tubular pick is fantastic!
Only problem is, now I need to buy some dimple locks and tubular locks to test them on...
This helped me to figure out a better way to put those bent turning tools in.

But - it is kind of impressive for magnetic closure type cases. I was pleasantly surprised by how firmly it grabs.

It's strong enough that I clip my lishi tool to the front and don't have to worry about it falling off.

I’ve actually taken a wiper blade off of my car and used the two stainless steel ribs to open my door lock, never give up!😂
