    When those pins are sheer-lined, it's absolutely going to retain the key since it can't get any relief on the pins to release the key.

    Joel,
    No, a plug spinner will not work on this lock-sorry. You must either pick it counter-clockwise one time, or clockwise three times to reach the original position where you can insert the key.

    sir: a couple of questions. 1) i saw the tailpiece moving as you started to work the left side, is there a bypass for this lock? 2) once you turned the plug 90 deg. it locked and the key wouldn't go in. is this truly because of an out of round keyway as you described or because there is no bottom bible and so no where for the the right side 'key pins' (now on the bottom) to go as you try to insert the key? i ask with all respect for your skill and knowledge, it just seemed like the more sensible explanation to me. thanks.

    The ring on the front reminds me of some locks I saw in another video. Those could be opened by removing the front with a screwdriver and then emptying the inside... is this possible in this one?

  • @mh-
    @mh- Před 11 lety

    Very nice explanation! But how can it have driver pins at the bottom and be key retaining at the same time?

  • @mh-
    @mh- Před 11 lety

    > but when you rotate the key the irregular shape is out out of line with the circular keyway and cannot be taken back out until you rotate it to the original position.
    Wouldn't that require some part of the key milled away near the bow, where the locks warding could retain the key? But the key in the video doesn't seem to have that.

  • @420approved7
    @420approved7 Před 10 lety +1

    after you pick and you go to far as you showed. the pins on the right in the plug are still picked and that's why the key wont go in. so you would only need to pick the left an top bank in the reverse direction.. good job ...I herd in one of your vids of a 'medeco' lock picking. are you talking about the medeco cam locks? because their is a million dollars up for grabs from medeco for anyone who can pick their bi-axel locks.

    Bosnianbill >>> There´s something that has been puzzling my mind lately. I hope you can clear it up a bit. I know it might be a bit off-topic but still I think it´s relevant. It´s because I think this lock and the Galaxy-lock that I´ve seen you pick looks in some ways similar to the 209 Gerda Titan-lock. What makes the Gerda so much more difficult to pick? As I see that lock It´s a combination of pintumbler/tubular and dimple lock-types so shouldn´t it be possible to pick it allthough very difficult?

    Nice vid. I'm wondering if you made a hollow, circular tension wrench that put light pressure on all 12 pins, if that might be easier. I admit it wouldn't be easy to make, and I would only consider making one if I worked in an area that had many of these.

    You can always just take two tension tools with You and pick one row, another and when You are left with the one that was locked with a wrench before, You just reapply tension to one of these that are already picked. Probably You would need to be left with at least two pins out far enough to lock Your tension wrench on them, but in the end You will change Your tension row and be free to pick the one that was originally locked by the first wrench :)

      Hetman 1 Jak Ci tak dobrze idzie z angielskim, to na pewno zwróciłeś też uwagę na pojawiający się tam tryb przypuszczający w wypowiedzi? :)

    • @zardzewialy
      @zardzewialy Před 9 lety

      Tak, masz absolutnie rację, że jest to najprawdopodobniej jeden z najtrudniejszych do otwarcia, szczególnie bez punktu podparcia w samym bębnie. Jestem w znacznej mierze pewny, że moja metoda mogłaby zadziałać pod warunkiem odpowiedniego układu szpilek (chociaż pewnie dałoby się to uzbroić tak, że żadna z przednich by nie była płytko osadzona i wtedy ta metoda odpada). Z wykształcenia jestem iżynierem projektowania systemów i instalacji logistycznych i chociaż nie jestem specem od zamków, to i mechanikę i fizykę musiałem na swoich studiach zaliczyć. Nie potrafię Ci zagwarantować, że ta metoda jest na 100% pewna, ale jestem Ci w stanie zagwarantować że przy odpowiednim układzie szpilek, który pozwala przemieść napięcie na inny rządek, ta metoda może się sprawdzić. Co nie zmienia faktu, że jak wspomniałem - wszystko w przypuszczeniu i gdybym miał narzędzia to pewnie spóbowałbym ją też przetestować dla własnej satysfakcji :)

    • @zardzewialy
      @zardzewialy Před 9 lety

      Hetman 1 Tak, ale przecież nie w tym rzecz tutaj jak się włamać, a właśnie w tym jak otworzyć :) ... w końcu na tym całe wyzwanie polega, żeby znaleźć metodę pokonania samego zamka!

    • @zardzewialy
      @zardzewialy Před 9 lety

      Hetman 1 Oczywiście, że można. Rzecz w tym, że wiele zamków jest zabezpieczonych przed key bumping, bo mają np. poprzeczne szpilki właśnie. To się sprawdza głównie w zamkach z jednym rzędem tradycyjnych szpilek. A jak chcesz bezpieczny zamek, to kup sobie coś czego bosnianbill nie był w stanie otworzyć, czyli coś z serii Gerda Tytan. nawet kilka wiadomości z BB na temat tego zamka wymieniłem i jest to dla niego absolutny koszmar, którego nadal nie potrafi rozgryźć :)

    • @zardzewialy
      @zardzewialy Před 9 lety

      Hetman 1 Ale przecież o wiele łatwiej kupić Gerdę, niż szukać starych zamków na wyprzedażach ;)

    it has nothing to do with the offset, it's that one row that's on the smooth wall. once those pins are on a sheer line and moving the key is locked in or out, period.

    Why not drill a hole through some thin steel and superglue it over the hole of the barrel for a lever, it wouldn't be permanent and easy enough to remove.

  • @joekeith1434
    @joekeith1434 Před 9 lety

    When I saw the tension problem, the first thing I thought of was a rubber stopper with a hole drilled in the middle. Example: www.midwestsupplies.com/rubber-stoppers-drilled.html (I do not work for or endorse this company, they just happen to sell what I am talking about). These stoppers are sold at wine/ beer making supply houses for less than a dollar and come in many different sizes.

    • @joekeith1434
      @joekeith1434 Před 9 lety

      You could put the stopper on the lock itself and provide tension, while working through the hole of the stopper.

    the way to make this lock a real problem would be a locking mechanism requiring a full turn or more to open
    possibly with a 4th set of 4 spring pins at the bottom such the lock would need to be fully picked at each quarter turn

    • @Dracolith1

      This is a $17 one that doesn't require you to drill holes to mount it. "2-3/4 In. Articulated Vacuum Vise" www.harborfreight.com/2-3-4-quarter-inch-articulated-vacuum-vise-3311.html . My friend is able to mount it to his wood veneer computer desk. Of course one that you can mount with screws, can be used for more things, but for simply holding a lock to pick, it's overly-qualified.
