      @@SafeDriveSolutions sure. I think it captures both well. For my needs the a139 pro is sufficient but I do like the features of the u3000, especially the cloud, voice notifications, WiFi updates. If they were the same price I might go with the u3000. The output on both is exceptional. The other thing to consider is customer service. VIOFO staff have language barriers so email is a head scratcher and quite frustrating. Question, with CZcams 4k it’s still compressed compared to the actual raw file, right?

    Color tones are more vibrate and natural with Thinkware U3000 however, Viofo A139 Pro captures the details rather well. Nighttime, A139 Pro wins hands down utilizing HDR and the U3000 Super Night Vision 4.0 is horendously bad. For Parking Mode the U3000 seems to have better capabilities and nice App features. If you already have the U1000, my suggestion is do not upgrade to the U3000. As for front camera Video quality the A139 Pro is the best. Thanks Ben, for another terrific dash cam comparison. You do spend much time in editing your videos and they constantly look good.

    Thanks. Video quality trumps parking features for me. Where I live I'm not leaving a £250 camera in full view, it'll cost me the camera and a window. The Viofo 139 pro does what a camera should do, it takes great pictures.

    Thanks for an informative review! Doesn't the Viofo have an impact detection-only (G sensor) parking mode, or does that only work together with the motion (video) detection mode?
    If it has a separate impact detection-only mode, how quick is it to wake up and start recording, and how large is the current draw?

  • @LapuertadeHal
    @LapuertadeHal Před 5 měsíci +2

    Excellent comparison, the parking mode is what interests me the most and the battery consumption. I should buy the Thinkware, but the fact that it only has two cameras (I'm interested in capturing the sides) and the price difference make me lean toward the Viofo. My car has a 45Ah battery, according to my calculations it should work well 24/48 hours without dropping below 12v, is this correct? I didn't find many comments online about this. I did find some complaints about it overheating and the Wi-Fi could break, which makes it useless. Some recommended changing or putting heat dissipating pads inside, do you know anything about this? One more thing, the Viofo A139 consumes less than the Viofo A139 pro? Thank you so much!

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Před 5 měsíci

      It will not last 24/48 hours and if it does it will be a few days of that and then nothing due to low battery protection kicking in all the time as your battery has been depleted. Too many manufacturers mislead people.
      Never heard anything about heat dissipating pads.
      We do not sell normal a139 so not sire of current draw difference.
      If you want long parking mode you need a battery pack and you need to drive minimum 45 minutes per day to charge it

    Hi, I have just seen this video. I am interested enough to ask you if you would do a comparison with these same two dashcam systems with both adjusted to record in 2K at 60fps as they have the capability to do.
    I ask this as my belief is that recording at the faster nitrate of 60fps in 2K, will provide a sharper definition of number plates and other identifying features or signpainting etc on another vehicle, over the 4K at 30fps.
    What is your understanding on this idea, and have you attempted this on any of the numerous dashcam setups you have reviewed?

    Hi SDS.
    Having rear window tint, will it affect the video quality on a Viofo A139 pro duo?
    Second question, will dashcams affect cars radio signal strength?
    Third final question, having dashcam hardwired, and choosing the LOW BATTERY PROTECTION mode. Will it automatically shut-off, every time. Or has any customer experienced failure to kick in?

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Can you see out the tint? If you can see out of it then it will be fine. You may have challenges late at night if there is no light anywhere. I have only seen twice where for some reason the AM radio was affected but it was only affected for added static on AM Radio. I t was minor and 90% of people would never even notice it. Keep in mind we have installed over a 1000 dash cameras. With any product there is defects. To tell you that low battery protection has worked eveytime for every product on the market. I could not tell you that for sure. From the products we sell at Safe Drive Solutions. I have yet to see one of the products we represent fail where low battery protection did not work. Yo New York,
      Please forgive me for butting in to this comment thread.
      I just got done testing the A119 Mini 2, and comparing it to the A139 Pro for the past six weeks.
      I uploaded my final CZcams review this morning.
      Long story short;
      The A139 Pro currently has the best DAYTIME image quality on the market, (however during NIGHT TIME & LOW LIGHT situations no so much).
      I found the Mini 2 delivered better overall NIGHT TIME & LOW LIGHT performance than the A139 Pro. You can see the obvious differences in my my low light & HDR testing in the beginning of my CZcams review video.
      But, of course no one wants to hear the $112 Mini 2 with 2K resolution is better than the $230 A139 Pro with 4K resolution.
      Well, when lighting conditions get poor like at night the 4K resolution is not only meaningless, but it becomes a hindrance to image quality. I found the A139 Pro in bad lighting conditions with HDR On to produce a blurry, ghosting effect. At first I thought the camera was out of focus, but I’ve check it several times in daytime footage and there are no focus issues.
      So if night time driving, with license plate capture is your priority you may want to look into getting an A119 Mini 2.
      Oh yeah, as a general rule of thumb HDR is for night time only, (during the day turn it off). But of course film your own test footage and compare it side by side with your own eyeballs.

      Sorry to hear about your experience with the Element 2. I have heard about some other Viofo units having that problems in prior generations. But none of the products that I have carried have had those challenges that I have seen yet.Have not heard that about these 2 models yet. Viofo A139 Pro has been out 7 months now. Vantrue e2? Mine is having issues as well. They told me to try replacing the memory card and even sent me another one but it randomly shuts down lately and restarts. I’m on the latest firmware where they adjusted the thermal shut down settings which I think is causing said issues. I also have this attached to a powercell 8 and was looking at that being the culprit, possibly a bad hardwire connection or dropping voltage. It’s hard to tell. I’m about ready to buy another dashcam brand simply to try ruling out if it’s the powercell 8 or element 2.

      Only way I was able to resolve this is by leaving a fan running inside aimed at camera. The fan I have has 3 settings. Always leave it on max. Fan utilizes almost double battery p/h than dual camera but has restored parking mode for me.

It's pretty lazy to have to update the dashcam from your computer that seems like some old school or some unknow name company would do that not a well know one.
