Just got the N4 Pro and it’s absolutely amazing. No drop in frames when in 3 channel mode and amazing HDR for plate reading. All around amazing dash cam unit

There is another hardwire kit for the VanTrue than the one you showed. It allows for different voltages and also includes a timer. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them. I did get the VanTrue as parking modes donet matter much for a garaged vehicle. It was also a decision based on price and I wanted the 3rd channel available if needed.

Not that I know of. Not sure if Thinkware would do that in the future. They have not on prior 2K or 4 K models.

Awesome video!. Thanks for all your hard work. When watching the N4 power consumption during the motion/impact detection I saw that the monitor was on. What about when it’s off, as I think for most people would set the screen on time for 30 sec.

One must not forget that 70mai comes with battery instead of capacitor, as far as I read every 1,5 years or so it needs to be replaced.
The A139 looked to be the clear overall winner to me. Great plate legibility, good night visibility and fast adaptation coming out of the tunnel.

Pin 3 ignition, pin 4 ground, pin 16 constant power. Always verify your wiring by testing

Great comparisons! I bought the Vantrue and updated the fw for 5-6 sec. impact, but you are correct... it is STILL too long, plus the A139pro just has an edge on quality compared to the N4 for license plates.

I purchased the 70 mai like three weeks ago, yes price was a part of it, but im kind of glad with it, front video is great, files are very very easy organized, yes the rear camera is not so great but I think its ok'ish to have some recording in case of an emergency...
one think I saw many people have problems with the N4 is the mounting and the mounting glue, which gives up very often and even Right after installation....
so it doesn't matter how expensive the camera is and how great the video quality is, if its falling down- then you have no recording at all...
so far in the California heat, the 70 mai is holding its mounting and mounting glue without fail for me.
which I consider a plus.

What about the Thinkware Dashcam T700 ? or i think i have to wait for a Thinkware Dashcam with integrated 4G/LET Module. How much electicity (mA) need the Telekom Hotspot UBD Module ? I would for sure get Viofo A119 Mini 2 over 70 Mai. you get 60fps at 2K resolution. Ability to add a polarized lens.

Interesting thing about the Vantrue - they actually have several hardwire & OBDII kits that are compatible with it. I got the "Vantrue 3-lead Acc Hardwire Kit" (VP01), which has 5 DIP switches for selecting 4 different voltage cutoffs and 6 timer settings.
I will also note that the power draw tests would be quite a bit more digestible if they were all shown on screen at once so we can easily compare between the various cameras and modes.

This is a real treat to watch. I've been looking at a dash cam for awhile and wanted to see some high end contenders against each other. I've always been a Thinkware fan, as I had a previous f1800 Pro 2Ch setup for over 5 years. Was looking at getting the new 4k 2ch U3000 Thinkware, and was very disappointment at the quality compared to others. Almost every single example has so much compression noise that the quality doesn't actually seem like 4k. Overall I still think the U3000 still has the most features and parking options, especially with their new radar system Thinkware has. But, I just don't know if its worth the 220+ price tag over the A139. I wonder if the OBD connection is better, very easy for me to install for sure, as I'm not very good at hard-wiring, and usually have them professionally installed, but can be a big cost too in "labor". I've always loved the fact that I can have my dash cam silently recording while my truck is in the shop and make sure that its actually being worked on, or someone isn't taking a joy ride. But with an OBD cable, that can easily be unplugged, since depending on the dealer or work being done, they need the OBD port to diagnose problems, which might tip them off that a camera was hooked up.
Either way, I'm a bit conflicted now as I very much like the quality of the A139 Pro. I am curious though, idk if I missed it or not, but did you install the CPL filter that came with the U3000? I was under the impression it was supposed to clear up a lot of the bad contrast glare at night. Or maby I'm wrong? Just wondering as @ 26:17 you can just see at how not helpful this camera would've been in a situation where you may have needed to see that plate, you can't even make out one single letter compared to others.

Thanks for the video. I bought 70mai 810 and I can confirm it support 30fps 4K front camera. Also the cam support AI Motion Detection and the video was recorded to the memory card without any issue. Wondering whether you were using the older firmware. I am current using 1.158ww.
How is your experience so far? For daylight and night recordings. Also, was it really slow to get videos via wifi?
@@japrtorresjaprtorres Compare to $350CAD Vantrue or $400CAD Viofo, $200CAD 70mai is best bang for the buck dashcam. For me, the major tradeoff is lack of 5Ghz Wifi and non starvis sensor rear camera. The front camera recording quality is really good. The rear is ok at daytime but really bad at night. However, my rear window is tinted, and I think a good rear camera still might not works well. Wifi feel slow but I can either remove the microsd card or remove the camera completely by simply unplug 2 cables and slide it out. So I think it still usable.
It is not 30 fps and i also found out after my video that even rear camera is 25FPS. So both front and rear are 25 fps.
The AI motion detection never worked for me and it is to most current firmware.
UPDATE :: So I guess 70 Mai did a firmware update where they are inserting frames in but they are not genuine 30 frames per second. Itis still a 25FPS dash camera.

very good video however you didn't show the rear videos of the thinkware? and also talk about the type of rear camera support at thinkware I had a problem I own a pickup with a vertical rear window and if you install the rear camera you have to adjust the angle the problem is that the radar cell found itself at the bottom so I had to make a removable support and thinkware does not offer it otherwise your rear radar does not work
The rear thinkware camera was left in my broke down vehicle. When I looked at video footage i had it was of the wrong angle. Basically had it pointing straight down 🥲. Totally my fault.
The radar sensor I believe you are correct. I really want to confirm for myself. The vehicle dying on me really messed things up for me.

Hi, the viofo was that the 2 channel version or the 3 channel version? I have seen that you can adjust bitrate. 1CH/2CH/3CH 60Mpbs/44/26. Comparing this to the N4PRO, which is 3CH, isn't fully fair then IF you want a 3CH. Is it possible to turn off the inwards pointed camera of the N4PRO and perhaps see an increase in quality?
The N4 Pro had interior camera turned off during recording. You can choose that in settings. Viofo was running in 2 channel version.
I'm very glad to see you mention the new parking mode cable having three wires:
1) ground
2) ACC ignition
3) power
Why the need for all 3 when for years we only had ground & power cable?
For sake of simplicity can we put the yellow ACC wire on power instead of having to splice into our ignition?
No you can not do that. That would probably end with a dead battery.

Running all these tests in your vehicle with all these cams, do you find that all the manufactures hardwire kits have the same pin outs on the usb-c end? Like is that a universal wiring scheme? Or do some manufactures have a proprietary pin out?
Funny that you ask that. I was doing some testing and found that Vantrue hardwire cable would put the 70 mai dash cam in and out of parking mode with no challenges. However the Viofo hardwire cable would not put either of those dash cams into parking mode. I was reading on one pf the forums that there is a different pinouts for USB-c. I have used a Viofo HK-4 hardwire cable mon Red Tiger with no challenges and it would work for parking mode as well.
That 13 second response is a deal breaker .
Yeah. It does have a 6 second response as well but at higher current draw. Thinkware is great. Low current draw and quick response.
I believe there are settings for the sensitivity on that but I am not sure yet. Mine is arriving tomorrow. I am basing my information off of other reviews. I don't know if that will have something to do with the response time

Viofo needing to use computer to update is a deal killer for me. I might try the Viofo mini 2. I think that can update on wifi. If I end up wanting a rear camera I might just get a second mini 2.
No Viofo will update via Wi-Fi. Not that I know of
@@SafeDriveSolutions Having looked at the online manual info it looks like you are correct. I guess I will just have to find out if I can buy a Viofo already updated to the latest version. I think the latest update fixed a Auto HDR timing issue. That’s important to me.
Thanks for such a detailed comparison. In ur previous video, license plate detection of Viofo A139 was better than thinkware U3000. But in this video, looks like thinkware is better and license plate detection by A229 is actually looks quite bad for me. I was planning to get the Viofo A229 Pro until I saw ur video. Sandisk max endurance vs VIOFOs sd card. Which do you recommend? Does write speed come into play?
I prefer viofo sd cards personally as they are industrial grade. However i have not done a head to head on these 2.
you did not mention about Vantrue N4 Pro:
- CPL filter lens
- 10s pre-recording in parking mode

CPL filter does not come in the box. We also test all dash cams without CPL filter.
10s pre recording you are asking about buffered recording. Yes all 3 have it, i did not test the 70mai for it as the motion detection would not work.
Remote controller is an add on.
Voice commands were not mentioned because i was not even saying the commands and weird stuff would happen occasionally like it would take a picture for no reason.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the detailed and informative videos. In the end I decided on the Vantrue N4 pro and against the Vaio A139pro, as some reports on the A139pro put me off. (Dashcam doesn't record sporadically or breaks after 1-2 years).
Without the CPL filter, the Vaio is superior to the Vantrue. With CPL filter the Vantrue is on par (front camera). The backlight like in the tunnel (25:10) is negated and the license plates can be seen more clearly with the CPL filter.
What shocked me a bit is how much more power the Vantrue draws compared to the other dash cams. I'll be hooking up my Vantrue to a battery pack soon.
I find the Thinkware to be poor in terms of price without HDR. The radar/good parking mode cannot compensate for this. In the motion detection parking mode test I don't see the Thinkware in front either (perhaps it looks different in the original recordings).
To be honest, I think the Vaio and Vantrue are better here. On the one hand, the backlight makes recording more difficult and on the other hand, you can always adjust the videos afterwards (contrast and brightness). The Thinkware is not as sharp and has more motion blur.
In any case, I'm happy with the purchase of the Vantrue and I'm looking forward to new videos.
Vantrue is way too big in my opinion. I also do not like the interior camera being built into the unit as it limits mounting options for interior and front camera. The current draw is excessively high. The video quality is good for front camera.
@@SafeDriveSolutions The good thing is that dashcams are getting better and better and everyone can choose a suitable dashcam for their needs. I use the vantrue in a Supra mk5 which has not the biggest windscreen behind / under the mirror and its ok. I dont have a comparison with other dashcams.

Just got a 70MAI A810, it'll be my first dashcam ever. Went for the 2ch version. It seems the rear cam of the a810 has very poor video quality, but oh well, better than not having one I guess.

Doesn't at least the 70mai A810 save and protect the current file when it detects a bump? Meaning that even if it detects the bump two seconds after it happened, you still have the few minutes of footage from before and during the event?
Thats not how it works. If you are using impact only while parked it will only get 2 seconds after impact. If you want before impact you need to use motion detection or time lapse.
What do you think about the Viofo 229 Pro compared to these dash cameras?

quick question on my truck my cigarette connector stays on even when truck is off so i dont need the hardwire kit for my truck right ? for parking mode ? my dashcam stays on it diesnt shut off after i turn off my truck . would that kill my battery ?
Yes it will kill your battery because you will have no low battery protection

i think you got the angles mixed up, from the sales add, says that viofo is 170 front and 140 rear, i would assume that would go for all cameras, larger angles in the front to capture more. also how come you didnt have the viofo in collision detection test?
If the manufacturer changed anything after the video was made that is possible. At the time of creation it was accurate.
Viofo does not have impact only collision detection. They only have motion with impact coupled together.

Viofo does not have an impact only setting. However if there is an impact in auto event detection, time lapse, or low bitrate recording it saves in locked files.

It seems that Viofo A139 Pro is winning by quite a huge margin @ $289, comparing to U3000 @$379, N4 Pro @ $295 and A810 @only $149. A810 is so much cheaper probably for the worst hardware but the front camera isn't half bad.
If you could shop VIOFO from china, like I did, it’s a steal. $300 for front and rear + hardwire kit + 128gb SD card. Thinkware is so overpriced with such bad image quality.

They all have something that I want. Really difficult to hand pick one for my use. What would you suggest? Parking security is my first priority. Being able to know what happen is important to me. I also want to be able to capture license plate clearly in case of accident.
Parking Mode First dash cam is Thinkware U3000. The only downside is night vision it falls behind

Great review. But the lack of a lcd is deciding factor for me. I think the lack of a lcd on the u3000 is just not acceptable. Also there is a huge price difference between the four. The 70mai is 1/3 the price of the U3000 where i am at

From my understanding you do not need to turn your vehicle off. Just put vehicle in park. Dash cam will record while ignition is on
My biggest problem with current dash cams is the storage is very limited. For me, more storage the better.

Depends what you are using it for. I would pick A139 pro because it is 4K while Mini 2 is only 2K resolution

i personally purchased the thinkware u3000, all the other cameras in this video are made byy chinese manufactures. i dont want the chinese government having access to my dash cam through software backdoors thank you very much

@@SafeDriveSolutions see? i didnt know that, and now that i know that, it makes me even more hesitant to purchase dash cams from chinese manufacturers. my previous dash cam was a blackview and both blackview and thinkware are south korean manufacturers and i ttrust them. i iinstalled the blackview iin my giirlfriends car when i upgraded to the thinkware u3000 and she is very happy with it. im waiting for blackview to come out with something that has higgher resolution or even something that has the starvis 2 chip and hopefully hdr capability

Kind of wish you'd mentioned how hecking large the vantrue is. It's big enough it's a problem finding a place to mount it.
Don't know why dash cam makers are not making dash cam's with in-built batteries for parking mode or simpler way to connect a battery like a power bank for phones, only need a usb cable, instead of hot wiring it.
Because they fail a lot more. I have removed lots of Nextbase dash cameras. Due to the battery inside the unit failing. Super capacitor is more reliable
Reviewers should really READ about the Dash Cams they are reviewing. The Vantrue N4 Pro - comes WITH 3 cameras. (Front, Cabin, & Rear). However - it will only record in 4k - if you throw away the other two 'included' cameras and are only using the FRONT camera. If you set it up as most people; plugging in all 3 included cameras - the lettering '4k' is just that. False lettering. The 70 Mai A810 will not record 4K in 60FPS at all. Only 25FPS or slower. Difficult to see that in the bad owners manual - but is answered in the FAQ.

My bad. I misread the owners manual. And thought it stated it would only record in 4K if only the front camera was used. Contacted VanTrue and asked about the discrepancy in their advertising and manual etc. They pointed out my error. 2160P is 1/2 or part of the 4K equation. Per VanTrue - it does indeed record in 4K with all cameras used - unless you set it - to not do so...
I never got anything wrong in specs.
N4Pro is a 4K front camera. 70 Mai does not do 60 fps nor does it say that anywhere in the video. Did you watch someone elses video?
@@SafeDriveSolutions I have watched other videos. I also READ the spec's. N4Pro does NOT record in 4K - if recording ANYTHING other than just the front. And since they include 2 other cameras - that is extremely misleading. Page 36 & 37 of the Vantrue N4 Pro owners manual - shows that.
@@daves7775 The N4 Pro front camera uses a STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor. I honestly do not sell Vantrue at all. But the specs are all legit for front camera. If you use a MAC and hit (COMMAND + I) it will give you technical specs of video file. Front 3840 x 2160, MPEG-4 AAC, HEVC, 725 MB. Also page 36 and 37 in my manual is in Spanish and has nothing to do with tech specs in my N4Pro manual. When I look at Vantrue N4 Manual which is non pro Page 30 it shows it is not a 4K camera. That camera is not a 4K Camera. Feel free to send a link to this manual you are referring to.
The 70 Mai A810 has done some deceptive stuff by adding in dropped frames and doing an update since my review where if you do the (COMMAND + I) it now shows 30FPS at 4K which it is not. it only does 25FPS.
Also we are a business that supplies and installs dash cameras everyday. We test all brands we sell and carry. We started testing competitors products to the products we support. Trust me if I could have told people Vantrue N4 Pro was not 4K I would have loved to. Send me the evidence.

I contacted VanTrue to ask them about the resolution - since their website states 4K etc. They pointed out that the resolutions stated with the Cabin and Rear Camera used - are abbreviated. And 2160P is 1/2 of the equation for 4K (3840 x 2160); and the front camera does record in 4K in all situations - unless set to not do so.

We focus on education. Everybody has a different lifestyle so we dont want to force anything onto anyone that could be the wrong solution.

We sell dash cams based on lifestyle. Which means we want to find what challenge the customer has and solve it with best solution. Thats why we typically do not do a ranking

Yeah you can. Vantrue and 70 Mai sold 100’s of cameras off this video. We dont sell either one. But i have installed tons of them for customers because of this video
