Very good advice. I know a few guys who have those overpowered amplifiers in their cars and burn out alternators every couple of months. The often have two or three SLA 100 Ah batteries in the back and the poor old car alternator has to sit on full load most of the time and will eventually fry up.

Well that's an interesting take .

I think it would be more precise to say that an alternator cannot work at 100% duty cycle. In other words, it cannot put out the max rated power for long without overheating. I have a 30-year-old 10DN that was modified to produce 108A with type B external regulator on my sailboat. It has been the primary battery charger for my house batteries ranging in capacity from 200Ah up to my current 560Ah of LFP batteries. IF I allowed it to run wide open, it would defiantly loose its magic smoke, but I have case temperature control that turns it off if the case temperature gets to 200ºF.
