Love the way you say 'all they had to do' when what you actually mean, Leeds were fantastic and outplayed Villa. Leeds dominated throughout, 2-3 flattered Villa, Leeds should have had 3 penalties too, Harrison and Klich both missed sitters, it could have been 7-2 and that would have been a fairer reflection of the game.

Bearing in mind 3 of our first choice defenders are injured, no Bamford, Roberts or saiz, have to say probably the best performance of the season I have seen from Leeds. Was a great game, but we dominated all stats and chances, as said by all impartial pundits, Lee hendrie even said was the best team he has seen in the league, which must have hurt him to say. Sure you guys will be up and around there at end of season, especially wihh the amount of money and wages you guys spend. The best team won. Mot, alaw.

Our first goal was class he could have very easily sent that wide, second goal was an header that wasn't as easy as you may think to score and Third was a half volley so not really understanding how you had the better 2 goals. Unbelievable, Steve Bruce has left us in a right mess, Elmo has seem to forgot to defend since playing wing with Bruce , call Hutton the Scottish Cafu and all that but when he bombs forward he’s never back and always makes at least one mistake, Chester can either have an amazing performance or a really crap one. Bree was ok considering the circumstances. Oh and now tuanzebe has a toe injury and dean says he’ll take some time, so January can’t come quicker.

Ironically, Nyland had a decent day as did Chester and Bree. Against any other team, this would have been a solid victory, but let’s not forget that Leeds is just as strong as the Wolves were last campaign. I still have optimism that we can get it together and push for promotion. At the mid-season mark last year, Fulham was 11th which is exactly where we find ourselves now. Just really need to turn it on for the remaining 23 matches. UTV from Colorado Springs, USA.

As a neutral fan who supports Exeter City and had attended the match, I had thoroughly enjoyed myself and thought it was a good game to watch, very attacking from both sides. I have to say, I do feel for you guys at the end, but good luck for the rest of the season, and I have to admit that Villa Park is a fantastic ground, will probably visit again soon!

It’s unfortunate about 2 of the goals being Elmos fault cause it reflects badly on the defence but I thought bree and chester did ok together. Kodjia looked amazing until he got tired and got subbed off. El ghazi was poor. I saw the 2 people who you sit next to as I was walking out. I kinda wanted to bump into you but it’s all good

Good vlog. Reality check for a lot of Villa fans today. Today was always gonna be difficult. Boy those dropped points against Forest and Albion are hurting us now. Smith has much work to do to get us firmly into that top 6. We need to get that belief that Leeds seem to have. Long way to go for Leeds though, they're not last season's Wolves, but good luck to em', been down far too long. Smith knows what he's doing. With reinforcements in January we could make playoffs. We would've dreamed of that at the beginning of October. Shame we're below the Blues for Christmas though!

Automatics are gone, we knew this anyway but this has put the nail in the coffin. Despite us dominating large periods, we were always shaky and Leeds could pounce easily on our frail defence - in the end they did this well and finished us. It shows how much we missed Tuanzebe and Grealish. I think the main issue for us in defence is the fullbacks, Elmo is just woeful and Hutton ain't any better - it sounds ridiculous to say this but judging by his recent performances Taylor is our best fullback (which ain't a good thing). Deano will get it sorted with some signings in Jan, imo we need to be looking at Rico Henry or Barbet from Brentford, a young ball playing CB/experienced CB who's good at heading, and a CM as a backup for Grealish (someone like Romaine Sawyers). If we can bring these players in I'm hopeful for playoffs. Stick with the Villa, UTV

Philip Hobbs Because possession means everything doesn’t it Philip, ignore the many chances we had in the first half and even the second. We put pressure on Leeds for the majority of the game but in the end our defensive fragility cracked and they deservedly won the game. Defensive errors? Did you watch the game? One was simply a good ball through to McGinn and the other was a neat finish from outside the box. You can have no complaints for the goals we scored. You were the better side and deserved to win, yes, maybe read the comment next time you fucking idiot.
@@brumav9779 Tbf the second goals was created by Harrison giving the ball away carelessly, kodjia doing a bit of skill and then our keeper being way out of position in which he should have saved that 100% so yeah it was poor from Leeds to concede but we made up for it

Morning all. Got to remember that Leeds, however many injuries they had yesterday, are a settled side, with a settled squad, manager and a pattern of play where everybody knows their roles, to the point where even the teenage lads can slot in. I wasn’t as enamoured with Leeds as everybody else seems to be, they have had a solid preseason with no disruption, Villa had an awful preseason and are still in transition under Smith and are basically milling through till January (at least that’s what I’m hoping) where they will strengthen at the back (they have already done so I hope with the acquisition of a new goalkeeper) and possibly in other areas to add depth too. That may still not be enough to get promoted this season but you never know. Villa need a completely new defence really, if only to create further competition for places. Elmo is finished I think, Hutton as much as I love him seems to be on the way out too, Chester has one good game in three or four, and Nyland is just not convincing.
Smith has already changed the style of play and for the better in my opinion - it is more open and therefore we will concede but there is no doubt in my mind we will win more games than we lose and that under Bruce, considering the players available, we would have been stuffed yesterday. He would have sat back and defended with a patched up defence, we would not have created a chance and lost 2-0 or 3-0 against a side who like to keep possession. Despite injuries, and missing the best player in the league, Villa still created chances and looked dangerous. If we can sort out the defence, and establish firm organisation, I think we will not only beat Leeds at Elland Road but will annihilate them and the vast majority of other teams in the league (Norwich are no great shakes either) - by all means call that statement arrogant and it probably is, but I would have any of the Villa midfield or attack over anyone’s with the exception of Whelan (who would not have played had Grealish been fit). Leeds looked dangerous but ultimately all their goals were from poor defending (2 mistakes by Elmo, and poor defending from corners again), whereas the Villa goals were genuine craft with slick passing and skill and that has been the norm since Smith took over. The best teams do not rely on the mistakes of others, especially in the premier league where mistakes are at a premium. Therefore, add some steeliness to the side and you have a team capable of not just succeeding in the championship but I think in the Premiership too, similar in the way Wolves and Bournemouth are proving. Keep the faith Villains.

Both teams had a makeshift defence so that's no excuse. Leeds' style of play meant they dominated the entire match barring a few minutes of the second half. Abraham scored purely from an accidental lay off and the second would have been saved by an average keeper. I would also concede that's Leeds goals were gifts but they could have scored more but for poor finishing (Harrison, Klich, hernandez, alioski)
Considering villa are forking out a small fortune to pay Abraham and Bolasie it's quite laughable how bad the midfield support is.
I hope villa get back to the prem as there are too many shit clubs in it at present, but with this squad it could be a while.

Villa had chances too, just because they were missed, the argument that in other circumstances they would have scored is a weak one (Bolasie, Kodjia chances being a prime example), that is simply football, you win some you lose some - the simple fact that our keeper who is average at best, did not have many if any ‘challenging’ saves to make, is testament to that fact - his best save was a mishit cross. I am not saying Leeds did not deserve to win or create chances merely that they were largely Villas own doing - your first goal comes against the run of play and horrendous defending, the second goal poor defending again and again for the third - not sure how you can argue that. Yes you can argue that Clarke turned Elmo inside out, but he didn’t have to work very hard in my opinion. Our defence generally is poor but I also made the case for the reason for that and also the difference in makeshift defences when one considers that Leeds have a more settled system and it is therefore easier for players to come in, which you have ignored - this does make a difference. Yes John McGinns lay-off was by accident but the passing that cut Leeds open before it was not, nor was Jonathan Kodjia’s strength and skill in setting up the second (tad harsh on your own keeper there by the way). I think Leeds are a good side I just do not think they, or Norwich for that matter, are anywhere near the calibre that people are suggesting. You can disagree if you like, but I see no evidence to suggest otherwise. I do not see a Tammy Abraham or a Jack Grealish in the Leeds side. What let Villa down yesterday was the ability to defend plain and simple and the possible absence of a quality defensive midfielder with presence who can break up play and get up and down.

We all hate Leeds.... But they are bloody good :(. They've been well drilled with a team they've had for a good 2 and a half seasons, they are well knit unit. Dean Smith has already got you guys competing with them in a few weeks though, so in another 6 months and 2 transfer windows he'll have you in top gear.

Logically (since there are 10 teams ahead of us; sorry to remind you) some of those teams will be playing each other - so some of them are going to lose points. Goal one: be in the single didgits!
