    Thanks a lot for this video.
    You're the only one showing *real* navigation on all these devices, and this is the thing that matters the most for me.
    Other channels rarely show "moving" tests, and when it's the case, we can't see anything on the device screen.
    Have you the Edge 520 Plus in your pipeline ?
    I would be very interested to compare this Edge Explore to the 520+ !
    Thanks again.

      Thanks for your feedback - glad you found the video helpful. I kinda skipped the Edge 520+ as I felt it was a bit of a been there done that device - IMHO it was too much like an 820 with buttons and no touchscreen so my videos wouldn't really show anything new. I'm sure its a great device as I love my 820 and its been my go to GPS for the last 2 years.

    I’m getting back into riding my bike after a number of years since. I’m considering this Garmin and for what I need it for, this is so awesome. I was considering using my phone, but after watching this video and a few others, I consider the Garmin my first choice. It’s a Winner! And for the value price, the Garmin quality way exceeds expectations.
    Thanks for posting this video, great!

    Awesome video!! I've been looking at computers for months now and doing my research. I somehow just found out about this Garmin Edge Explore last week, and I'm absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the price. If somebody doesn't' use a power meter then I don't know why anybody would buy any other computer. Wahoo Elemnt Bolt is the same exact price and looks like a junky child's toy compared to what you get on this Garmin. And the Bolt doesn't even have mapping built in. Ripoff!! I'm buying this one next week!!!! Thanks again for the video!!!!

      Thanks for the feedback and glad you found the demo helpful. It's definitely good value as a navigational GPS (if you're not so interested in performance metrics) - particularly when compared to the Edge 1030 at double the price. Its horses for courses though as the Bolt is still quite good at navigating courses - check out the video on my channel.

    Hello. Garmin explorer or 530 ?? Whats the best choice?

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  Před 3 lety

      Depends on your cycling preferences. You can create courses on the explore wheras you need to create them on an online mapping tool and upload them to the 530. The 530 has more data options than the explore. Explore has a bigger screen and is touch screen wheras the 530 uses buttons. For me, having used pretty much all the current cycle GPS I have the 530 on my bars at the moment - its the sweet spot of price vs functions.

  • @richardharker2775

    Is this the model without the strava and power integration? And, was that available in UK?

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  Před 5 lety

      The Explore doesn't have power meter integration or strava live segments - you can still upload to strava and use strava routes. To put it simply its a dumbed down 1030 with a slightly smaller screen and not all of the performance metrics but at MUCH cheaper price (currently about £165 in the UK if you know where to look). Its a pretty good option if you want a decent screen, the basic metrics and good navigation.

      I believe the 520 is all push buttons and Explore is touch screen mainly with a few buttons. Explore has music capabilities too. I was checking all of them out online and purchased the Explore 2 because it has everything the 1040 has except the "performance" features which I will never use because I only bike for fun and mainly will only be using the music widget and maps.

    If you want to record how much you have climbed do not buy one of these as the under record by about a third on ever ride. Sadly I should have had my money back and not another unit .

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  Před 5 lety

      I have always taken the elevation readings of any GPS (garmin or otherwise) with a pinch of salt. The Explore doesn't have a barometric altimeter - according to DC Rainmaker its GPS based with post upload correction. I typically auto correct all my rides on Strava once uploaded (regardless of which device I'm using (garmin, wahoo etc) - but who knows who actually has it right ?

    • @keithallen4313
      @keithallen4313 Před 5 lety

      I understand none of them can be spot on but when my old 800 recorded 6000ft of climbing in 70 miles to Dover which Garmin Connect did not change but the Explore only recorded 4000ft which Connect updated to 6000. Unless some thing has changed with Strava it would not update the feet climbed with my Explore data. I rang Garmin help desk and I am not the only one ringing moaning about the unit.
