    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. czcams.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    Fumes from painting and cleaning products as well as cigarette smoke can be removed with an activated carbon filter2. However, in order to remove particulate and chemical fumes, activated carbon filters should be used in conjunction with HEPA filters to provide the best solution.

    Can anyone please tell me if Air Purifiers alter the air pressure in room? Ever since I switched the Levoit 300s I feel like my eyes getting blocked as in an airplane. Any of you having this feeling or it maybe a coincidence that my ears clogged for some reason at the very same moment?
    Second question is that on the medium speed the device has like a very low whistling like sound. Not on low or high. I hear it only on medium fan speed. Its hard to describe this sound but its like a plane engine but on a low volume.
    Please help!

    I think they recommend cleaning the pre filter on the Alen every few weeks as it gets dirty it makes it harder for the Alen to do it’s job as efficiently you just vacuum it in place or you can remove the filter for a few mins and vacuum the pre filter so it’s clean again.

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 3 lety +3

      Yes! Cleaning gently your pre-filter and making sure it doesn't get saturated will make a huge difference. The frequency depends a bit on how much dust there is in your home, and you want to make sure to not damage the filter :)

  • @gentleoldmoviefan5680

    I appreciate your videos. Pleasant to watch, and informative both. I'm thinking of ordering Alen's BreatheSmart FLEX air purifier (model) to help with several health concerns. Do you know what country they are manufactured in? Also, do you recommend signing up for Alen's "Forever Guarantee"? In other words, would the extra cost (if any), and minor hassle to register the product, be worth it? Thanks!

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před rokem

      Hi! As a long time user of alen, I recommend getting the fit series over the flex line (depending on your budget). The secret to the Alen is the lifetime warranty (my units still going strong even with 24/7 use for 8+ years) and the quality of the filters. Even with the base filters, they are much heavier and use more carbon then majority of the residential filters out there. They also last longer.

  • @debbieventimiglia2216
    @debbieventimiglia2216 Před 2 lety +1

    The alien classic is out of stock but the alen flex is available, do you think the alen brown one ( flex) works good for not only pollution s but smoke odors?

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 2 lety

      HI! The Flex will work very similarly to the classic except for the lack of auto mode / air quality indicator. For Smoke odors, I know from experience, bigger is better. I have used the classic and fit50 to remove cigarette smoke and they clear the smell much faster than the flex due to larger motors/turbines. Also the fit50 carbon filters seem larger and the filter is heavier than the flex filter. The blueair 211 also worked very well as does the winix 5500 if its a room 200 square feet or less because it uses a washable carbon filter.

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey! Yes!! To me they are the best option for bigger spaces and they are also the most beautiful design while performing really well!!
      I always say when you look at air purifiers, you want to check the square footage it covers, the price of filters vs how often do you change them (1 year for the Alen) and the noise (Alen is pretty quiet for the power). Hope this helps 😊

  • @leylina9770
    @leylina9770 Před 3 lety +5

    Just buy a levoit. I run that thing like no other day and night due to smoke coming from neighboring apt. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE CHAROCOAL FILTERS. I throw away the HEPA more often but I even use just the charcoal panel without the HEPA when I need to cheap out.

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 2 lety

      yes! for pets, I recommend a the Winix 5500-2. Its affordable with a washable prefilter and charcoal filter. Its for a medium size room like 360 square feet, auto night, auto mode, turbo mode and a washable prefilter is a must for pets that shed a lot. The coway mighty also has a washable prefilter. For homes with pets that shed less, I can suggest others for you. :)

    Do you still find dust on top of fan grill?

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 3 lety

      Yes, and still need to vacuum (although less frequently) because dust is made of bigger particles that will "settle". I do find that it helps a lot with dust "flying" in the air, and it definitely makes a huge difference for my husband's allergies!

Do you have any recommendations that is good for mostly dust and pet hair that is affordable?

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  Před 2 lety +2

      If you have a budget of 130, you should be able to afore a winix 5500-2 on black Friday around that price. Another great deal is the winix c545 from Costco. You can get a refurbished unit for around 80 to 90 dollars online on winix.com or Amazon (winix is the seller and sometimes available) , filters last a long time, you can clean the pre-filter (I have a cat and can testify this is great). If you are drying clothes, the winters heaters will help a lot to dry compared to summer humidity and the air purifiers can help remove the lint/dust in the room.

      I use an Alen 75i but it's pricey and has an ionizer you can turn off. I think the blueair 211 auto, levoit 600s, or even 2 levoit 400s would be great overqll value.

    Are any good for smoke? Like neighbors who smoke and that smoke getting into your space? Are they ethically made? Materials sustainably and ethically sourced? Where is it made and by who? Ie no slave, child, prison labor? Does it produce negative ions? How much are the filters how often should be replaced? Are the compostable or biodegradable? What happens with the filters after they serve their purpose? Do they have a place which repairs it ? How's their customer service? How many watts? Did it increase your electric bill? How do you clean it? Cost of filters? How do you clean them? How often do you run it? 6 hrs out of the day or 24 hrs?

    In my opinion not one of the air purifiers shown in this video is a good option, I looked for a while and got xiaomi air purifiers, they range from medium size to quit big, their 100 dollars ones have displays and now they even have Volatile organic compounds ( VOCs) sensors and are connected to an app where you can see your air quality and set timers, their cheapest one (about 90 dollars with no touch screen and motion control) has twice the filtration capability as the 100 dollar one shown on this video and the purifier is still connected to an app.
    The xiaomi brand has bigger versions that are about 250 dollars that have the same specifications as the 500-600 dollar one but you gain two sensors an app control, a time setting, and a display.
    They also have a wide range of filters that are probably way cheaper for their size then the ones for these purifiers and work for many of their purifiers.
    You can find the xiaomi ones on amazon.com but they sell them for double the price then Aliexpress and the french amazon.fr where you find them for half the price but probably don't ship to the US www.amazon.fr/Purificateur-bact%C3%A9ries-formald%C3%A9hyde-silencieusement-plusieurs/dp/B08QVD95VS/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=smartmi+purificateur&qid=1629150352&sr=8-6
    (this has for 100 dollars an oled touch screen, two sensors (laser p2.5; and the voc), a motion control, a filter (carbon, hepa, pre filter)
    If you want to pay so much for a purifier get one on the "airdog" site (part of xiaomi) they have purifiers with the same specs and the same pricing as the ones on this video but have reusable filters with TPA technology (think they are the only ones on earth with that tech, came out at CES), you pretty much take your filter and put it in the dishwasher and its good as new as many times as you want
