  • Welcome to our most recent deep dive video, in which we delve into the intriguing world of Nordic trucks and how they differ from the rest of Europe's commercial vehicle market. In this detailed analysis, we look at the differences between trucks from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland and their counterparts from the rest of Europe.
Our voyage begins with an in-depth examination of the hard Nordic climate - harsh weather conditions, rocky landscapes, and how these challenges have influenced the design and functionality of trucks from renowned manufacturers such as Scania and Volvo. We contrast these vehicles with those manufactured by other European behemoths such as MAN, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, DAF, and Renault, highlighting variations in design philosophy, climatic adaptability, and technical advancements.
We look at how legislative effects in Nordic countries, such as weight and length constraints, have resulted in the emergence of unique vehicle layouts. Learn how these restrictions and vehicle designs differ in nations such as France and Spain. The video compares the interiors of trucks from various parts of Europe to the modern cabin designs of Nordic trucks, emphasising their attention on driver comfort and ergonomics.
Our investigation revolves mostly around technology. We look at how Nordic manufacturers like Volvo are leading the way in autonomous and electric vehicle development, reacting to these countries' early adoption patterns for sustainable and smart transportation solutions. Consider the efforts of manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz and its eActros to show how the industry is evolving.
Another topic we discussed was the toughness of Nordic trucks. We investigate the materials and construction techniques used by these vehicles to withstand the harsh Nordic conditions, as well as how these choices compare to those made by manufacturers in Southern Europe. The visual appearance, powertrains, and emphasis on safety measures in Nordic trucks are thoroughly examined, providing a full overview of what distinguishes these vehicles.
Finally, we cover the flexibility, maintenance, and serviceability of Nordic trucks, as well as how these characteristics are matched to the demanding conditions under which they work. The video finishes by reflecting on the Nordic truck manufacturers' legacy and forward-thinking approach, and how their vehicles are more than just means for transportation, but also a tribute to resilience and creativity.
Join us on an exciting journey across the trucking business as we discover the unique qualities of Nordic trucks and their impact on the industry. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more insightful commercial vehicle information. Let us know what you think and any encounters you've had with these Nordic behemoths or their European counterparts in the comments section below.

Every trucker fears the harsh conditions in Denmark. Only the strongest survive over their steep mountains and areas that often are hit by avalanches. Polar Bears roam the streets, the scary silence of their deep forest.
Avoid Denmark at all costs! True wilderness!

Other manufacturers have the same safety features such as automatic braking and so on. It is probably already mandatory to have this in the latest generation of trucks.

I was about to say the same. Sure Scania and Volvo comes with 700+ hp engines while benz and man is 630 at the top I think but the rest is pretty much the same. We have Scanias and benzes in our company. I am big Scania entushiast but I drive benz now on iced steep mountain roads hauling 49 tons and benz is doing just fine. And I have all safety systems that you mentioned volvo has and it works fine. Sometimes when there is a lot of dirt on a road proximity sensor is disabled until you clean it but same thing happened to me on scania last winter so I see no difference here.
One thing about scania that I found that it was designed this way to suit nordic countries better and for those details I love scania - traction control switch is on the same knob as differential lock so you switch both those things almost at once which is very useful while surpriesd with snow on uphill while in benz there is a knob for diff and then a button in other section to turn off. Small detail but I think it was well thought in scania

does he realize he is showing a dutch combination here 1:55(thats a dutch license plates)... the LHV are also available in the Benelux(LZV), UK and some parts of Germany(Lange LKW)
the only combination thats not in service in those regions is 2 full trailers
DAF(from the Netherlands): is a company that implies new technology with mid level comfort, so they currently have the biggest cabin due to them having already implemented that with the new european regulations(Volvo and Scania still abide to those rules for the general market) with the XG+. I wonder if he knows about the existence of the Alps(part of which in Italy, where Iveco is from)
DAF had also one of the first all electric trucks(the electric LF) and only Volvo out of those 2 is heavily investing in electricity Scania not so much. Volvo does that because its looking at the future of the european truck market which also operates in cities and a lot of cities want to have no combustion engines
looks at the front grille of a DAF...
safety systems are ignored on any other truck. you heared it here first
just in nordics are the only people to build custom trucks....

I would delete this inaccurate video.
Do your homework properly, before putting up a video like this.
Mercedes, MAN, Iveco, DAF makes trucks with just as big engines, with chassis configurations that meets the nordic weight and lengt demands.
As for the cabins, those are just as spacey and living room ish as Volvo and Scanias are.
Naturally some prefer one make over another due to smalle differences.
One thing you got right is the difference in styling your truck, as shown in the video.
Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish trucks are in a league of their own. Their style are different than the rest of Europe.
Although trucks from the Nederlands are also extremely nice styled.

Yes I’m aware of that. It seems like Volvo and Scania are at a horsepower race. Naturally it’s a good thing when hauling really heavy loads.
But for the majority it’s more a “nice to have”. A normal truck/trailer/släpvagn on 6 axles total is in no need of 700+ hp. Nice to have, but not necessary. It’s more a thing of who has the biggest d..k.
Mercedes engine OM473 has 630 hp btw.
So my point is, that this video glorifies Scania and Volvo as the only trucks capable of driving in the harsh conditions of winter in Norway and Sweden. The other brands are absolutely also capable of doing so. I’ve been a co driving a couple of times from Denmark up to Bodø and Alta in a FH460 pusher in the winter. No problem. That is not the reason. The reason why they are almost always 3 or 4 axel is that you by law have to have two driving axels to pull a 60 or 74 ton load, that is the standard size in sweden (and 84 ton in finland) because front wheel drive dont really work they need at least 3 axels. I've never met anyone who would rather a Merc than a Scania or Volvo.I drive a Mercedes Actros and I hate it the auto box is rubbish and the build quality is nowhere near as good as the Nordic trucks and the in cab plastics and switches are just cheap.

And the fact that all trucks can be fitted with different equipment like a arm.
