I always loved the idea that a small island off the West coast of Ireland would have a Chinatown.
The Chinese are a great bunch of lads, Craggy Islands the place for them.
I like the idea that Rugged Island has a Japanese population.
The Chinese are everywhere
I love the name Seán Yin.
@Pyro not now there not
Ted pointing out the perfectly square piece of dirt on the window, just to set up the most unlikely misunderstanding in history.
Absolute genius writing. Wish they still made sitcoms like this. Although, I doubt any sitcom would get away with making an episode like this nowadays
@@matte4562 Oh hell no the episode wouldn't even get released nowadays people would lynch the writers and creators of the show. I personally am a big fan of older sitcoms this and only fools and horses are my favourite ones and goodnight sweetheart that's a good one also.
Dominik Doherty I’m not sure that’s true. There are still plenty of shows that contain controversial humour, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia being one such example. Sure, there will always be people that complain but if they want to take offence at jokes who cares...
TV was worth it back then unlike today's worthless pc bs.
Dominik Doherty watch love thy neighbor thank me later.
I've watched this episode many times and every time it just kills me. This has to be one of Ireland's greatest ever gifts to comedy, and God rest dear Dermot Morgan, taken far too young.
It's possibly sacrilegious, but I actually think the CZcams cut of the "I hear you're a racist now..." scene is funnier, because it makes it seem like word of Ted's racism has spread around Craggy Island in seconds.
Agreed.
No I agree with you 100%. But the whole episode is brilliant to me I find it hard to pick a superior scene 🤣
It is
Ive watched so mant reactions recently and havent watched the ep in years so i forgot it wasnt originally like that lol
Father ted is an absolute classic
Glad more people are becoming aware of it
Exactly. I introduced 2 young Indians to it 2 years ago.
@@TheDoran144 I think it's been known in America for a while now.
Shannon "ASMR Shanny" Sly, an American (from Michigan) who has a CZcams channel, is clearly a fan of the series - I have referenced Father Ted in a number of comments I've left on her videos, and she's hearted them.
should of been more aware of it years ago it should be made a crime not to know about this comedy
@@benconway9010 that's for sure. I was talking to someone in the UK recently, she said she never heard of it.
@@TheDoran144 sad bitch😁
"I hear you're a racist now, Father! How did you get into that type of thing? Will we all be racists now? Only, the farm takes up most of the day, and at night I just like a cup of tea. I mightn't be able to devote myself full time to the 'ole racism".
Probably the funniest line said anywhere, ever.
I'm convinced that the farmer would've been racist if he'd had the time to do it. One of the best episodes, that.
Agreed, remember watching this episode when first aired, we were all rolled up, exceptional writing!
"It's not the Greeks, it's the Chinese he's after"
"I don't care who he's after, as long as I get a go at the Greeks! They invented gayness!"
"I'm NOT after the Chinese!"
You would expect it to be the British after centuries of imperialism
@@notv_internetuser3789 You must be be fun at parties.
@@humann5682 I've met his sort before; real laugh a minute smilers they are.
The Chinese, a great bunch of lads.
But the British are better.
@@jameswonder7192 You just ruined the fucking joke
@Jamie LOL you're funny.
@@buzzytrombone4353 Nah mate, I made it better
@@jameswonder7192 Always one dopey twat, has to show the rest of us up.
I love the bit where the man found out he was a racist, he asks "How did you get into that type of thing?"......
As if it's a hobby 😂
05:08 "From what war... Vietnam War?"
The Irish are famously mad keen on Vietnam War memorabilia
@@miles-thesleeper-monroe8466 lost lots
Love this episode! I'm Chinese and find it hilarious
You're a great bunch of lads
@@adamphillip5305 hahaha

HOORAH!
Ankh Warrior lol fuck’s sake man
Someone had a 'The Chinese a great bunch of lads' banner at an Ireland football game was at. Respect
"The money was just resting in his account... "
It was resting for a long time Ted.
Bishop Brennan_ "You went to Las Vegas when that poor child was supposed to be in Lourdes!" 😂😂😂
BIZARRE IRREGULARITIES

DRINK! DRINK! DRINK!
Love the oriental version of the theme at the end. This is one of the best episodes! It just never gets old!
Over twenty years later, we are still laughing at this! Absolute genius!
I love when you go "Which war? WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korea?" it really puts into perspective just how many wars america gets into...
Lol very true. We just signed an agreement to end the War in Afghanistan today. It's been going on since 2001.
@@taffe316 well im sure youll be in another one within 3 years...
@Man Pig Wouldn't surprise me.
@@taffe316 Taliban taking over the country anyway another wasted 20 year war.
No one going comment he says lighten up when he has lampshade on his head
Speed 3 is another gem from this series. Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse is another classic.
speed 3 was the worst one, how can anyone like it
@@takethehighroad5027 No accounting for taste. Personally, I like the milkman character, makes me laugh.
Love that episode the whole plan thing with the brick gets me everytime
Also the caravan one classics
@@takethehighroad5027 speed 3 from father ted lol
'Kung Fu Fighting' is the song you want played at an event celebrating cultural diversity.
"as long as I can have a go at the Greeks....... they invented gayness!" lmao
The Greeks invented sex... and the Romans started doing it with woman
Aaron A Aaronson I know the Romans did something for us
He hasn't got a problem with the Greeks Mary it's the Chinese hes after
Best Father Ted episode of them all.
Nah, Speed 3 or Christmassy Ted
*I agree, it's my favorite!*
I always liked Cigarettes and Alcohol and Rollerblading
Just watched this with my other half he enjoyed it greatly what a laugh we had . RIP Dermot Morgan what a legend. X
"What are the f***in' odds?!" pretty much sums up most of Craggy Island's happenings 😄
"They invented gayness!" is one of the funniest lines of TV there'll ever be and also, thank you Greeks.
Dermot Morgan R.I.P
Great actor, terrific comedy series
This was the first episode to air after the death of Dermot Morgan (who played the title character). He died from a heart attack just after the last episode was filmed.
Frank Kelly (who played Father Jack) died in 2016, exactly 18 years later.
Poor Ted, everyone loves a tragedy. Tragedies, ironically, invented by the "Feckin' Greeks", inbetween inventing all the "Gayness"
Probably in my top 5 of fave episodes of anything, ever
One more for the "would never be allowed on TV today" list.
Actually it would, and is.
"What are the fucking odds?!"
Father Ted in a nutshell
The Christmas episode is one of the best. I watch it every year and Christmas and it never gets old. "The largest lingerie store in all of Ireland"
Fucking.classic big man
The lingerie clip was actually filmed in Dunnes Stores, Ennis, Co Clare.
The scene from My lovely horse where they are throwing the beach ball to each other in the pool is actually the old swimming pool in Ennis. From years ago.
"that's what I heard any way"
is the swimming pool still open?
It's Ireland's largest lingerie section...as I understand it
The bit at the window kills me everytime hahaha
Never gets old, must be nearly 20 years since I first saw this and it still cracks me up.
If anything knowing what's coming cracks me up more.
"There's a Chinatown on Craggy Island?"
Me and mom love father ted. Nice to see you keeping it alive in this way!
One of the silliest comedies of all time . Got to love it
Tears in my eyes! This show was too funny. Good on you for keeping it alive!
Dermot Morgan was a great stand up comedian in Ireland before he became father ted it’s a shame that he never got regognition for his work while he was alive r.i.p
I wonder if he would have had the career that Graham Norton has had if he survived.
Just in case anyone is interested" the theme muxic is y The Divine Comedy- Songs Of Love
Casanova by The Divine Comedy is one of my favourite albums 🙂.
24:48 The term "Jack-in-the-box" just got a new meaning!
The best comedy ever, i never laughed so much in my life
I love Father Ted. Utter genius.
Have to say I enjoy how much you are enjoying this show all these years later.
The dad was lovely the whole way through. Nothing would annoy him. Another episode at Christmas! Hooray!
RIP Dermot Morgan. 🙌🏼
Yay A Very Christmassy Ted! Aired and watched and loved every year.
Peanuts!
The first bite might have given you Spider Man powers. Unfortunately the second bite cured it.
Brilliant.
The best comedy series ever made...Period.
I visited both Teds house and the pub were Ted went into today
Great episode man. Even though I knew it was coming, your reaction to all the Nazi stuff at Father Ted's house was priceless 😅
I always crack up at the little hamster on the bicycle, just when everyone is drinking in the Nazi decor.
You've got to do more father Ted in the future! Great stuff.
"What are the odds?"
When you're Father Ted Crilly, very high.
😂I love the "and how did you get interested in that type of thing" 😂😂😂
no matter how many times you watch these episodes there's always a new laugh - "aggro phobic" - fear of fighting!
The not a racist part of the slideshow gets me everytime lol
The first time I watched this back in the day, I cried laughing at Ming the Merciless.
Hi Noah, Father Ted was one of those shows guaranteed to brighten your day. They seem few & far between now, so you miss such shows even more. I was very lucky to grow up when we had a plethora of wonderful comedy talent in the u.k. in particular & also in your country. Really enjoyed your reaction, poor Ted had no luck except bad somehow. :)
The worse things get, the more we need comedy!
Brilliant, one of my favourite episodes. Glad you enjoyed it Noah 👍🏼
It never gets old seeing father ted 🥳😁🇮🇪
Brilliant! This episode and the Christmas episode are the two most famous episodes of Father Ted. I don't want to spoil the highlight scenario that everyone remembers about that episode incase you yourself don't know what it is, but to give you a little tease if you wish;
In this episode, Ted had to save his personal reputation on the island, in the Christmas episode...
...he has to save the entire priesthood from national scandal.
Most fun I've ever had watching a CZcams video. Well done indeed.
I love this show and am currently working my way through them all again. I also liked the other Linnehan and Matthews stuff like Big Train, Black Books, IT Crowd etc but I always get a warm feeling from Ted...
Your reactions here and on the robot wars video are so great.
Such a sad loss but a brilliant epitaph to his talent
24:02 "NO!!! No No No No No !" 😆😆😆😆 Brilliant reaction 😆😆😆
Best UK/Irish sitcom of the last 25 years. Only Phoenix Nights came near.
I'm an Alan partridge fan myself.
@Hugh Jarce the last four pre date Ted. I detest Dad's Army BTW. It ain't half hot mum is far better
@Hugh Jarce I enjoyed Max and Paddy.
@Hugh Jarce I've seen some of them, some I have not. The ones I did see, some made me laugh. I don't get Ricky Gervais at all. I do have a sad admission. I watched My Hero. Why? Thankfully it's not been repeated as it was truly awful. The On the Buses of its time
@Hugh Jarce Well I don't watch as much telly as I once did,so I can't judge what I haven't seen. I'm of a certain era,so much of the more recent stuff passed me by. I do however adore Derry Girls. Absolutely superb. Brilliant writing and casting. I guess that can redress any quibbles.
Yank sitcoms: The Big Bang Theory
European sitcoms: Absolutely brilliant.
Step up your game, yanks.
they gave the world the simpsons, we gave it coupling
@@LeMerch Cheers is great.
My life growing up with father ted as late night comedy was great, the day i knew he died was a bad one
Some of the best comedy ever made.
Great bunch of lads !!!!!
20:41 when you make a new friend in the night club toilets .
Dermot Morgan could really be claimed to be the precursor to Father Ted, with Father Brian Trendy, his brand of humour opened up the field for those who followed, esp the creators of Father Ted, Dermot was one of the Gods of Irish comedy. Am so glad to see he is now universally acknowledged for his, well what do you call it? Brilliance!
A friend of mine got me into Father Ted. Brilliant show. Ted being racist was the funniest bit in this episode.
we had a priest years ago that used to like to play the piano . sounded like les dawson a british comedian . all the right notes but in the wrong order . he thought he great lol .
Great video. Thanks!
Somehow, even without actually showing it straight away, I could already guess what kind of war memorabilia was behind the door. Being a comedy, you just had to figure it out.😂🤣🤣👌🏼
'Allo 'allo was another amazing comedy. It often had a whole bunch of plots running side by side in an episode, that would all collide at the end. I never saw any ther comedy that did that so well.
Each to their own - I thought 'Allo, Allo' was absolutely bloody awful. Sorry.
I hear you're a racist now father. One of the best lines in British comedy
Irish.
One of the best episodes this. You need. To do Speed 3 next time you do a Father Ted vid.
Fantastic, I was really hoping you would do some more Father Ted reactions, really looking forward to A Christmassy Ted! I'd love it if you do some more, particularly the first episode of the second series called "Hell"
'Hell' is my favourite episode. I loved that when they did the retrospective anniversary programme, decades on, about the making of Father Ted, they visited all the location filming areas. Including the campsite where much of 'Hell' was filmed. They asked some of the campers there if they knew what the place was famous for, and even the kids knew! I'm looking forward to visiting Ireland, and seeing all these places - they get Father Ted fans visiting from all over the world...The Craggy Island Parochial House is even open for teas, sadly without Mrs Doyle.
Always those financial irregularities on his account....
(Father Ted) The money was only resting on my account lol
Oh, Pat was wondering if he could put his massive tool in my box...
Lee McDaid - Donegal 60fps “WHAT HOW DARE YOU”!!
It’s too big for the milk float...
One of my favourite Father Ted episodes!
really enjoyed that thanks
How do you get bit by a spider twice? 😆 🤣 😂
This was so funny and great reaction Noah. Definitely looking forward to more. And react to speed 3 of father Ted it extremely funny.
The film protest episode has to be next...
'Down with that sort of thing... '
(Awaits the obvious reply.... )
Careful now!
Such an amazing episode, seen it so many times still makes me cry with laughter 😂 😂 😂. Have you seen the speed one yet omg. 😂
Emperor Ming the Merciless 🤣
Another funny father ted episode has to be 'Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse' but they are all funny :)
I think this is where Michael MacIntyre got his head/hair bobbing idea from.
The shell shocked look on your face is priceless 🤣🤣🤣
This is my favourite episode
If you've not seen it yet you should really do reactions to fawlty towers. It's only 12 episodes long but every episode is hilarious.
Father ted!! Awesome comedy, the best comedy ever made in this pc world!!
"I got bit by a spider by the way" isn't something anyone in Great British Isles ever hears anyone ever say... 25:10 OUCH
Brilliant episode
This is a great episode. I hoper you do The Plague some day.
This was shown around the same time as Al Bundy came to our screens. Cynical comedy that wouldn't see the light of day now, but funny as hell anyway.
What a brilliantily funny show
