The trailer was full of small details you may have missed, and Naughty Dog has posted a ton of information on their website about the new game modes. This is actually a very good Directors Cut. I feel the ''remastered'' logo tainted peoples initial reaction. It is actually not to soon but rather perfect timing for a Directors Cut to release.
What does director cut mean does that. Mean a different story ????
but why not call it that? remastered implies your main selling point is a REMASTER... the visuals hardly warrant a 2nd purchase. people were already confused bc TLOU part 1, the REMASTER of a ps3 and ps4 game got content CUT (Factions) so they shoulda called it Directors Cut to really sell the added content... and also give us FACTIONS lmao
@@Nu_Merick It's a PS5 game now, it runs at a higher resolution, higher framerate and will likely have a lot of detail oriented graphical improvements. The Last of Us Part I trailer made a big deal about "breakables and chippables," these kinds of "barely there but add life" nuggets stacked over each other are going to be the only selling point games have to offer as the hardware approaches generic photorealism. And if you'll remember were largely the things gamers ripped Watch Dogs for faking.
It's crazy to act as if they're not being honest with people by calling it a "remaster."
It's kind of a "who can tell the difference between Blu Ray and 4K" argument - like if people think the side by side comparisons are laughable in the trailer, at least there is one, no one is forcing them to buy it anyway.
I honestly think people would then want a Part 1 Director’s Cut based solely on the name.

Spider man got a Directors Cut, Ghosts of tsushima got a Directors cut.
It was the same deal, a PS5 upgrade for $10 which gives you some additional content, a graphical upgrade, improved gameplay elements and adaptive trigger support. But these games never got any hate for it.
The fact that it is called a Remaster, mixed with the fact that Naughty Dog just released a full priced remake of TLOU1 part 1 without factions and weird advertising not too long ago has tainted peoples perception of this version.
I'm sure people figured it out but that lost level where Ellie is in the wooded area with Joel's jacket is likely her boar hunt where she can't bring herself to kill it because it's agony reminds her too much of Joel
Naughty Dog has stated many times that was gonna be a sequence in the game right before Tommy shows up to guilt trip her

I am happy about the lost levels! I hope they are playable and not just "walkaround places". I also love the idea of randomized enemies and actually wish they would add that option to the main game! It would remove completely the boredom of replaying the game multiple times!
Apparently they said they’re unfinished levels and they’re gonna be unfinished when you play them, they’re just mostly exploitable chapters that never got added. I think they’ll at least have dialogue and combat or whatever it just won’t be like a regular polished level
The Dinah level looks like a "walkaround" level. They probably cut them specifically because they weighed the game down, which is going to favor combat as much as necessary story beats. So I wouldn't really expect lost levels to be the pinnacle of exciting gameplay. Bet some of those environs are in "No Return" though, if it uses existing maps, and not just existing assets.
2:13 Is the part where Ellie and Dina fall into the pharmacy area in a store and clickers almost get them.
That was one of my initial thoughts, but when I watched it the closer, it still looks like it’s an opening shot for the new mode to me. Similar to the shot we see of Lev later in the trailer.
That scene @2:15 is from the opening mission with Ellie and Dina in the pharmacy/ convenience store
I think the graphical upgrades are more so surrounding details (trees, foliage, textures) that had to be downgraded to keep the character as great looking as possible
Pretty sure there are also separate models in the Ps4 version for the MCs between gameplay and cutscenes, and if there aren't I'm sure there are for other characters anyway. Perhaps now they can use the cutscene models for all interactions.

Last of I and II is a great game, it's has the great Potential, the story is immersive as it progress, the combat is amazing. Overall great game I hope more Games are made like this.
That "new" shot of Ellie was a location in the original game. It's the supermarket where Ellie and Dina have the first clicker encounter.
The devs simply broke the behind the shoulder camera, placed it in front of ellie, made her aim her pistol, and walked her forward.
The last of us part 1, was not the third remake of the first game. It is the first and only remake of the first game, while previously released is: 1 - the original ps3 version, and 2 - the remastered version of the first game to play on ps4 (much like this part 2 remaster, being more compatible with the ps5 features). I think these little details matter considering the misunderstanding of remasters and remakes.

Idk why ppl are mad about this remaster being “too early”. The first game got remastered ONE YEAR LATER of its original release.
and that was way less effort, for $50, no upgrade path. Just a resolution and framerate bump from 720p to 1080p and 30-60fps basically.
Exactly!! I've been saying this for so long. I swear people having been glossing over this fact and want to hate on the game just because they were never fans of it in the first place.
I think the crispness partly comes from resolution since the og part 2 does not run at 4K but 1440p.
ngl i'm gonna play the game in 4k 30fps, moreso because I had no problem playing the game in 30fps in the ps4
@@Imagination2500 I played on ps5 so I didn't try 30 but it would probably suck when using gyro aiming which is what I did. Would look too choppy
Trailer disclaimer warns the footage is "a combination of realtime gameplay and cutscenes" which is weird because virtually all cutscenes in Part II are realtime cutscense anyway. When I thought of what might not have been, to save time and money, I immediately latched onto the intro sequence that replays some of Part I. So hilariously it seems like the OP's(?) main point of comparison might have been one of the few pre-rendered cutscenes that actually exist in the game.
@@futurestoryteller Nah I'm talking in general. I did get one shot for comparison of the exact same frame of a cutscene. Sure the textures are probably better but 4K does help with anti-aliasing and makes it loop sharper even at lower playback resolutions.
I doubt anything is pre-rendered, the disclaimer says gameplay and in-game cinematics.
@@ZenTunE- Not sure there's any reason to warn about in-game cinematics except in the case that they're pre-rendered.

My situation with the last of us is kind of unique! I am a blind gamer and heard about the incredible accessibility features it has, so I've only gotten into it over the past few months! The first game was amazing but I've looked into the second one quite a bit and while I'm not Thrilled about the story I think the gameplay will be really fun!
it's a 10 dollar update, tbh it's amazing even if i'm tired of having 0 new games
They're 100% only doing a remaster this early because its going to be released on PC. They are porting so many games over now with titles like spider man, TLOU1 and horizon forbidden west all coming to or already on PC. Im definitely excited to see how this game performs on PC
This was a great breakdown. I was surprised by the trailer; was very skeptical/annoyed upon hearing the rumours but some of those went away when I saw a whole new mode coming with it. And I didn't know much about it until you explained it. I think if the people who love this game watch this, they'll have no problem spending the $10. I just hope Naughty Dog will keep surprising us now they're done with remakes 😂

LOL that would be funny 😄 but hardly applicable as infected are incompatible with player's decisions (e.g. they are guided by instincts and not by rational decisions, they are blind while gamers would see the screen, etc.). So yeah... fun idea but impossible to realize.

There is a ton of potential.
My favorite game of all time. 10/ 10. Story and gameplay So compelling, so captivating and little things like blowing off body parts with guns is the realest I've ever seen in a game. With this remastered version just add a few new missions, and online co-op and Im elated.

Honestly I'm not even getting it for the graphics polishing, I'm getting it for the Dualsense features. The haptics of horse hooves, rain, etc., the adaptive triggers simulating trigger break and bow tension, all fuckin awesome features.
Small correction the last of us part 1 was the first remake not the third, and if you wanna count the ps4 remaster a remake then it would still be the second remake not third

What’s funny though, is that on additional playthroughs, I’ve come to appreciate the story so much more.

I have the last of us part 2 for ps 4 but i have ps5 so 10 bucks i great deal for a brand new game. I am not a big fan of remastereds, but that survaival mode is making me give that 10 bucks away.

Only bone I have to pick with is I’d rather play as Manny over Mel in the No Return mode, but otherwise I have no complaints! It’s gonna be awesome. Also Abby’s skin is Furiosa from Mad Max lol

Hoping for one-armed Yara. They make a big show of inclusion and it would be cool to see them put their money where their mouth is once again and implement a disabled character semi-realistically in such a brutal combat heavy game.
They did say each character would have unique play-styles after all.

10 to upgrade will probably tell you how much of an upgrade it is...its always looked top top top their anyway but the extra resolution might make a small difference

All i wanted from a remaster was a 4k/40 mode and a option to run 1440 with a unlocked framerate and the price is fine so all good im in :)

Not only do we get a new mode but for those of us who are blind we get audio description.
Oh and it's £10, I couldn't ask for anything more, well ok; a better nav assist but that will probably come in a later game but for now it works as it's meant to.

If the PC release for Part II remastered is around six months after the PS5 release like it was for Part I, it will come to PC around the four year anniversary of Part II’s initial release. I don’t think it’s too soon for a remaster at all given the fact that PS5 is a three year old console. We’re just now getting to a point to where they’re easily obtainable after the scalping fiasco.
They already had us over a barrel with releasing part one for an extremely high price and they’re going to do the same with this! It should be dlc for £10 or less. Kmt!

Idk everyone is comparing the cutscenes graphics, of course its gonna look the same. The cutscenes in tlou2 are arguably the best looking cutscenes in all of gaming. Im guessing the actual gameplay will look better than the original, not the cutscenes lol. Either way, solid remaster, makes sense. After playing pt 1 remake, its annoying to play tlou2 without haptics. Not to mention that no return and lost levels will be awesome

There is nothing to breakdown, the game is running in 1440p 60 fps right now on ps5 and it WILL run 1440p 60fps in this remaster, end of subject. THIEFS ! ....
